The air traffic control tower is the most important part of any airport, yet it’s also the most unacknowledged. Fliers seldom stop to admire their ethereal beauty and futuristic silhouettes. We’re missing out: These towers are fascinating architectural specimens.
The cup of joe you get from those pod-based instant coffee machines like the Keurig might not be the best you can find, but they sure are convenient. And while instant soup is a logical next step for pod-based dining, the makers of the Flatev have actually found a way to churn out fresh, warm tortillas from a machine on your counter. The future is delicious.

Not all watches are the same, but before the world goes absolutely crazy over smartwatches, the traditional timepiece still has a place in the overall hierarchy of things. Casio’s G-SHOCK range has been a favorite for many over the years, and it looks that this range of tough watches is about to get yet another new addition to the family. The latest G-LIDE collection will place an emphasis on superior functionality and performance, where it will come in a quartet of eye-catching colors which emphasize G-SHOCK’s distinct digital time-telling and surf data capabilities.
Specially designed with surfers and water sport enthusiasts in mind, the latest range of G-SHOCK G-LIDE watches is made up of the GLX5600 (C-1 / C-2) and the GWX8900 (C-3 / D-2). The GLX5600 edition will boast of 200M water and shock resistant technology, a trio of multi-function alarms and snooze function with flash alert, a countdown timer, 1/100 sec. stopwatch, World Time of 29 time zones (48 international cities) and operates in a 12 or 24 hr format. The full functions of the GLX5600 will be complemented by the highly coveted Tide & Moon graphs and Moon Age data chart which clearly anchors the face of the timepiece, hence enabling the most precise tide and surf swell recordings. In addition, there is the auto EL backlight on the GLX5600 models that deliver easy reading of the digital time-telling graphics.
As for the GLX5600C-1, it will come shielded by a black translucent resin case as well as band with contrasting neon green detailing, whereas the GLX5600C-2 will feature a blue translucent resin case and band with neon pink detailing. Regardless of which particular option you pick, both are guaranteed to provide undeniable style to the world’s top surfers and action sport enthusiasts who love nothing better than to spend time in the waves.
As for the GWX8900 models, they too would feature standard G-Shock features, apart from boasting tough solar power, Multi-Band 6 Atomic Timekeeping, and dual countdown interval timers, 4 daily alarms with 1 snooze, full auto super illuminator LED backlighting capability, and preset and user set sites which would make the GWX8900 models an excellent addition to the G-LIDE summer series, with users being able to choose from fluorescent green (GWX8900C-3) and royal blue (GWX8900D-2) shades.
The G-LIDE GLX5600 (C-1 / C-2) and the GWX8900 (C-3 / D-2) will cost $99 and $150, respectively.

Future EarPods Could Rely On Sensors For Ear Detection, Control Noise Cancellation
Posted in: Today's ChiliConsidering how Apple has spent a whopping $3 billion for the acquisition of Beats, what next for the company that changed the way the world used smartphones? Having said that, a couple of Apple patent filings that were published yesterday do point to an earbud design which is capable of detecting a user’s presence depending on the data that is derived from onboard sensors.
Smartphone manufacturers are certainly doing all in their power in order to increase the amount of battery life while simultaneously throwing in a slew of new features, with hardware engineers sweating it out in labs so that the hardware control systems can be optimized for maximum power efficiency.
It does look as though the most recent patent applications from Apple are headed in such a direction, as the earphones are touted to deactivate power-hungry features automatically whenever it no longer detects that the user is wearing them. Apple’s patent applications happen to be for “Ear Presence Detection in Noise Cancelling Earphones” and “Electronic Devices and Accessories with Media Streaming Control Features“, where both systems sport sensors that detect a user’s presence which will in turn, be able to opt to switch off select functions. We cannot wait to see whether these patents will be incorporated into actual products or not eventually.

New Mortal Kombat In 5 Days?
Posted in: Today's ChiliIt does look as though the upcoming Mortal Kombat title is slowly but surely inching itself into existence, or at least being confirmed. According to NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon, who also happens to be the very same person behind the Mortal Kombat franchise, he continues his gentle teasing on microblogging site Twitter. Initially there was a poster that leaked out earlier that depicted an x-ray of a broken spine that had a question asking, “Who’s Next?” with the famous iconic Mortal Kombat logo right there t o accompany it. This time around, Ed Boon teased, “I don’t suppose there’s anything I can do to make you think we still MIGHT be announcing Injustice 2 in #five days is there…..?”
Having said that, it would mean that the next Mortal Kombat to hit the market could happen in less than a week’s time. Do you think that this new version of Mortal Kombat will be able to roll back the years and introduce a sense of wonder that most of us experienced all those years ago when the first Mortal Kombat was introduced to the masses? Will there be a new kind of “-ity” to keep us entertained apart from the usual Fatalities, Babalities, and Animalities? How about hidden characters in the game? Only time will tell, so stay tuned.

Where do you think would be the fastest Internet connection be? Is it in your home, or at the office? I am quite sure that military bases would have pretty decent speeds, and so too, do universities and research centers. However, how about folks who happen to be on the moon? Yes sir, our earth’s very own natural satellite has seen scientists from NASA and MIT demonstrate such a connection, where it relies on Earthbound telescopes in order to beam infrared pulses to a satellite that orbits the Moon.
This particular set up is capable of delivering upload speeds from the moon all the way back to earth to be a fantastic 622Mbps, which is faster than just about most of the other broadband connections available at developing countries and in developed countries as well. When it comes to going the other way, however, download speeds in the opposite direction happen to be slower at 19.44Mbps. Nothing impressive here, but at least if you know that there is a way to relocate to the moon in the future, you won’t have to worry about Internet speeds in that particular part of our galaxy. The moon sure sounds much better to stay on than Mars!
