A few hours ago, Nikon officially unveiled their latest high-end camera in the form of the Nikon D810 which is the successor to Nikon’s other cameras like the D800 and D800E. Now if you liked what you saw and heard about the camera, you might be interested to learn that several online retailers have begun taking pre-orders for the camera.
Retailers such as B&H, Amazon, and Adorama have announced that they will begin taking pre-orders for the camera. Just in case you were thinking and hoping that the retailers might be selling it cheaper, you’d be mistaken as all the retailers have priced it at $3,300 which is pretty much the price that Nikon announced earlier. The retailers have also pegged it for shipment on the 17th of July, so if you’re interested in getting your hands on the D810, you might want to place your pre-order today.
Just in case you missed the announcement earlier, the Nikon D810 is a new full frame DSLR camera from Nikon. It will feature a 36.3 megapixel sensor and will be powered by Nikon’s EXPEED 4 image processing engine. While it does not feature an optical low pass filter, it will allow users to shoot photos up to ISO 51,200 when in Hi-2 mode.
The D810 is also aimed at videographers, thanks to the ability to display zebra stripes while filming to help the filmmaker know if the shot is being exposed properly. There will be two microphones in the front that allows for stereo audio capture, and a flat video profile that will allow for coloring of the footage to be a much simpler task.

Back in 2013, Google announced Google Play Edition handsets which we guess could be thought of as the precursor to the rumored Android Silver program. At that time only two devices were part of it, and one of them was the Samsung Galaxy S4. The hardware of the phone remained the same but instead of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, it just used a stock version of Android instead.
Now we’re sure that there are users out there who wouldn’t mind a stock version Galaxy S5 and thanks to an image spotted on the official Android website, there is a chance that Google/Samsung could be giving the Galaxy S5 the Google Play Edition treatment as well. As you can see in the screenshot above, the Galaxy S5 is pictured amongst Google’s other Google Play and Nexus devices.
Now there has been no official word from Google or Samsung, and Google certainly did not mention anything at Google I/O yesterday morning, so we’re not sure if the image is simply a placeholder or if it is an announcement that Google has yet to make. However like we said, we don’t think it’s that huge of a stretch of the imagination to think that wouldn’t be Galaxy S5 Google Play Edition.
Either way we’ll try not to speculate too much for now, but check back with us in the future to see if there are any announcements to be had.

According to the earlier rumors, the Moto X+1 was pegged for a possible appearance at Google I/O. However given that the keynote has come and gone, safe to say that there was no Moto X+1 announced. However according to the folks at TK Tech News, they claim to have gotten their hands on a photo which allegedly shows off the Moto X+1 being held next to the Moto 360, as you can see in the image above.
Based on what we can see, it certainly seems to resemble the photo we saw yesterday, which for those who might have missed the news, featured a white backplate as well. Also we’re not sure if it’s just the angle, but the handset pictured in the photo certainly looks a lot thinner than the original Moto X.
Of course there’s no way of verifying the authenticity of this photo, so do take it with a grain of salt for now. Unfortunately since Google/Motorola did not make any announcements regarding the Moto X+1, there’s no telling if and when they will officially announce the handset. As it stands Motorola Mobility still belongs to Google until the sale to Lenovo has gone through, so we’re not sure if the Moto X+1 will launch as Google device or as a Lenovo handset.
However what we do know about the handset so far is that it will pack a Full HD display and will be slightly larger than its predecessor, and will come in a variety of customization options that might include the use of the leather material as one of the options, in addition to the wooden backplates.

Abu Qatada Acquitted Of Conspiracy Charges By Jordanian State Security Court
Posted in: Today's ChiliAMMAN, June 26 (Reuters) – Jordan’s state security court on Thursday acquitted radical Muslim cleric Abu Qatada, who was extradited from Britain last year, of charges of conspiring to commit acts of terrorism.
But the cleric will continue to be held because of separate charges related to a plot to attack tourists during Jordan’s New Year celebrations in 2000.
The Islamist preacher had previously been sentenced in absentia by a Jordanian court to life imprisonment for conspiracy to carry out al Qaeda-style attacks against U.S. and other targets inside U.S. ally Jordan.
Thursday’s session was a retrial in which the prosecution had argued he was a mentor to jihadist cells in Jordan while he was in Britain, providing spiritual and material support to a campaign of violence during the late 1990s.
But the court quashed the conspiracy charges on Thursday due to a lack of sufficient evidence. It postponed another hearing on the New Year plot charges until Sept 7.
In December Abu Qatada’s lawyer called for his client’s release, saying his rights had been violated by the presence of the military judge in court and reliance on evidence that was extracted under torture from other defendants.
Linked by a Spanish judge to the late al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, Abu Qatada was in and out of jail in Britain since first being arrested in 2001. He was extradited to Jordan in July last year.
Jordanian security officials and experts on Islamist radical groups say Abu Qatada’s ideological writings have influenced many youths involved with al Qaeda. (Reporting by Suleiman al-Khalidi, Writing by Sylvia Westall, Editing by Dominic Evans and Janet Lawrence)
Two longtime incumbents won heated primary elections this week, and both of them — Reps. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) and Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) — have the same group of voters to thank: African-Americans.
Did these lawmakers deserve to win?
On Wednesday night’s “Daily Show,” Jon Stewart played a clip of Rangel showing that “like most old men, Charlie Rangel is racist.” And black Democrats hit the polls for Cochran not because he’s so progressive, but because his opponent, Chris McDaniel, spoke at a Neo-Confederate event and retweeted a white supremacist.
What really stands out about these two pols is not what they did individually; it’s what they represent together. Watch the clip above for some facts and figures about Charlie Rangel and Thad Cochran — a.k.a. Tharley Cochangel — that will blow your mind.
