Google may be bringing self-driving cars to the public, but its “pod-car” trial is likely to remain small-scale sources claim amid ongoing tensions with traditional auto makers. Legal concerns insufficiently placated by Google’s own promises to take responsibility for self-driving accidents, along with accusations of arrogance on the part of the search giant have left negotiations cold. Talk of tensions … Continue reading
A wave of thefts has occurred with the game Sniper Elite 3, one that’s prompted Steam to revoke a whopping 7,050 game keys. Having been stolen earlier this year through an unnamed game distributor, Sniper Elite 3 was then sent off to multiple reputable gaming sales sites. Unbeknownst to thousands of purchasers therein, the game has had all access cut … Continue reading
Google Voice may be a solid way to be contactable across multiple phones, but woe-betide if you miss a call, with voicemail transcription that has so far tended toward the embarrassingly inept. Thankfully Google is aiming to change all that, with a new project aimed at improving accuracy via anonymous crowdsourcing. The Voice team will use real voicemail recordings to … Continue reading
There’s a new Windows 8 update coming your way this year which is said to bring a real return back to a more “classic” desktop environment. With Windows 8, the launch of the “Modern UI” was made ready for touch screens, appearing to many to ditch the original work environment. Microsoft has clearly seen the light and felt the complaints … Continue reading
You can’t hold it against Microsoft of getting the most it can out of the Halo franchise. Its extremely popular on the company’s gaming platforms and with new releases expected in the near future, some might think that there’s enough of Halo on Microsoft’s plate right now. But it seems like a new Halo game is in the pipeline, at least that’s the impression one gets from a new job posting by Microsoft for 343 Industries. Its a game developer that was established in 2007 by Microsoft to oversee the development of the Halo franchise.
The folks at Redmond are seeking a Publishing Senior Producer who will be tasked with taking care of a “new project line” in the Halo universe. It might mean that a new Halo game might come out of this.
The resource would be required to work with internal and external teams, so its possible that this project might be executed with help with an external developer, one or more. Though it is too soon to say at this point in time if it will be a first party or third party studio.
It will be expected of the resource to ensure that this game “hits the quality expected of a title within the Halo Franchise.” Consider this with the talk of a new project line and it does seem like a new Halo game might be on the cards.
For now though, look out for Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo 5: Guardians, they’ll keep you pretty busy until Microsoft has something new to show us.

Its not like iOS 7.1.x users haven’t waited for quite a long time for a jailbreak to be released. Even though multiple developers showed off their exploits none of them actually released it for the public. A relatively new jailbreak team from China called Pangu went ahead and released an iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak a couple of weeks back. Initially the tool was only available for Windows but today it the team has finally added support for Mac OS X. Mac users can now use Pangu to jailbreak their mobile devices on iOS 7.1 and iOS 7.1.1.
This untethered jailbreak will work on any supported device that’s running the aforementioned update. Recent devices like the iPad Air and the new iPhones are also compatible with this jailbreak.
Even though its an untethered jailbreak, it is nonetheless based on a software exploit. If Apple releases a software update in the coming days it is most likely going to plug this exploit. Therefore it would be in the best interest of everyone who pined after this jailbreak to not update their software should one be rolled out in the near future.
Initially there was a caveat with this jailbreak. It would automatically install a pirated app store when the jailbreak procedure was done. Now that option has been disabled by default for English users.
The Pangu iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak tool for Mac is now available for download from the team’s website.

Samsung is one of those manufacturers that have a habit of releasing multiple variants of their flagship smartphones. Apart from the initial flagship Samsung has already released two variants with another expected to hit shelves next month. We’re now hearing rumors about a Galaxy S5 model that’s not powered by Android, instead it would be powered by the company’s homegrown Tizen OS.
The company’s much awaited Tizen powered smartphone was unveiled earlier this month. Samsung Z has a 4.8-inch 720p HD AMOLED display with a 2.3GHz quadcore processor and 2GB of RAM. Its design isn’t similar to Samsung’s flagship lineup and really isn’t that impressive to be honest.
So it would make sense for the company to come up with a Tizen smartphone that scores good marks on design. Samsung Galaxy S5 has received much praise for its design even though the company still fashions it out of plastic as opposed to metal that everybody seems so interested in.
Import tracking website Zauba lists three units of “Samsung Galaxy S5 Tizen Test Phone” that have been shipped to India for testing purposes. This particular source has revealed details in the past as well about test devices that were sent down to India so its track record isn’t unreliable.
That said, it is not known for sure right now if and when Samsung plans on releasing the Tizen OS powered varaint of the Galaxy S5. It may only be used as a test platform for things to come in the future, or it may ultimately hit shelves at some point this year. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information.

Supreme Court Rules In Hobby Lobby Case, Delivering Blow To Birth Control Coverage
Posted in: Today's ChiliA divided Supreme Court ruled 5-4 on Monday that closely held corporations cannot be required to provide contraception coverage for their employees.
In an opinion authored by Justice Samuel Alito, the court ruled in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores and Conestoga Wood Specialties v. Burwell that the Obama administration has failed to show that the contraception mandate contained in the Affordable Care Act is the “least restrictive means of advancing its interest” in providing birth control at no cost to women.
The opinion was written narrowly so as only to apply to the contraception mandate, not to religious employers who object to other medical services, like blood transfusions or vaccines.
The Affordable Care Act contains a provision requiring most employers to cover the full range of contraception in their health care plans at no cost to their female employees. The Obama administration had granted an exemption for churches and accommodations for religious hospitals, schools and nonprofits, but for-profit companies were required to comply with the coverage rule or pay fines.
Hobby Lobby, a Christian-owned craft supply chain store, and Conestoga Wood Specialties Store, a Pennsylvania wood manufacturer owned by a family of Mennonites, challenged the contraception mandate on the grounds that it violates their religious freedom by requiring them to pay for methods of contraception they find morally objectionable. The owners of those companies believe some forms of birth control — emergency contraception and intrauterine devices — are forms of abortion because they could prevent a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus.
At oral arguments in March, the women Supreme Court justices grilled Hobby Lobby’s lawyer, former Solicitor General Paul D. Clement, about whether a for-profit company can be considered a religious organization, exempt from certain federal laws, if a majority of its employees hold different beliefs than the company’s owners. Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan asked whether companies like Hobby Lobby should be allowed to refuse to cover procedures like blood transfusions and vaccines, or to ask for exemptions to things like anti-discrimination and minimum wage laws, if they had religious objections to those policies.
“Everything would be piecemeal, nothing would be uniform,” Kagan warned.
Some of the court’s conservative-leaning justices asked why the Obama administration had granted religious accommodations to any organizations if the contraception mandate was so critical to public health. “It must have been because the health care coverage was not that important,” said Justice Anthony Kennedy, who was generally considered to be the swing vote.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
With age — and success, as it turns out — comes wisdom.
Having achieved great success in their respective industries, four of Oprah’s “Super Soul Sunday” guests recently shared the sage advice they wish they had known when they were young. From the co-founder of Whole Foods to a parenting expert, the innovators say these lessons would have all the difference in navigating their earlier years.
John Mackey, Co-founder of Whole Foods
“I would probably tell my younger self to talk less and listen more.”
Sue Monk Kidd, Author of The Invention of Wings
“Don’t be so afraid. It’s going to be all right. There’s a quote by Julian of Norwich that I love… She said, ‘All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.’ You could read that as superficial, but she had something else in mind. She was talking about something very profound and, I think, mystical, that at the core of us, all is well. No matter what. No matter what.”
Arianna Huffington, Founder of The Huffington Post
“I would say, ‘Stop worrying.’ I would say, ‘The blessings already are…’ There is so much unnecessary worry. So many unnecessary self-judgments. So many negative fantasies about the future. One of my other favorite quotes is by Montaigne, the French philosopher. He said, ‘There are many terrible things in my life, but most of them never happened.'”
Dr. Shefali Tsabary, Author of The Conscious Parent
“‘You will find your manifestation. Don’t be so restless. It’s going to come to you.’ I used to be so restless. I knew I had a message and I just didn’t know where it would come forth. If only I had trusted it more. I began trusting it much later, but in my early years, I was full of angst and chaos to get it out there. If only I had trusted the universe and that it would come to me. That I would manifest it.”
“Super Soul Sunday” airs Sundays at 11 a.m. ET on OWN.
