There are times when you can really let your geek flag fly and other times, well, not so much. If you work strategically you can still be in Nerdvana on the sly so that no one will know, unless you tell them — or give them a flash. The trek to this peace of mind starts with these cool Star Trek Boxer Briefs in the uniform colors of the original series.
“Inside the Actor’s Studio” is, I think we can all agree, a major snooze-fest—what with James Lipton’s monotonous droning and all. But if you want to get inside the minds of Hollywood’s elite comedians without falling asleep, look no further than the Nantucket Film Festival’s Comedy Roundtable.
What looks like a random steaming pile of trash is actually a clever piece of art that combines to create a stunning portrait. Made by artist Benard Pras, each item in the pile is strategically placed so that if you look at it from the right perspective, it looks like a painting. But if you see the junk pile from any other angle, you just see a pile of trash.
As a rule, serious 3D printers need equally serious design skills if you’re building objects from scratch. That’s no longer true for MakerBot’s Replicators, though; the company has just trotted out PrintShop, an iPad app that takes the hard work out…
SpaceX vs. Air Force: ULA prices weren’t checked for fairness, says complaint
Posted in: Today's ChiliSpaceX targeted the US Air Force earlier this year, accusing it of blocking competition and costing tax payers unnecessary fees when it awarded the United Launch Alliance joint venture various contracts. That issue has persisted, with the latest being an amended complaint. According to the amended complaint from SpaceX, evidence in favor of non-competitive accusations lies in the Air Force’s … Continue reading

During Google I/O, Google announced the Android One. For those unfamiliar with Android One, it is basically a hardware reference design by Google that will allow manufacturers to create affordable Android handsets for markets where high-end smartphones are pretty much out of reach for the masses.
Companies such as Micromax, Karbonn Mobile, and Spice Mobile are said to be getting in on the program where they will manufacture Android One devices for developing markets like India. That being said, how does Google plan on keeping prices low? Well according to a report from DigiTimes, they claim that their sources have informed them that MediaTek will be the company of choice for the chipsets used in the device.
Most high-end smartphones tend to use Qualcomm’s chipsets in their products. This isn’t to say that MediaTek or other brands aren’t that good, but for the most part MediaTek’s chipsets have typically found their way into budget offerings. During I/O, Google showed off a handset built by Micromax.
The device in question featured a 4.5-inch display and dual SIM functionality, and while they did not mention which processor it would use, DigiTimes’ sources claim that it was powered by a MediakTek chipset, the dual-core MT6575 processor to be exact. Their sources goes on to state that if this partnership proves successful, we could expect to see MediaTek’s chipsets make its way into future Google products as well.

Heads up World of Warcraft gamers! If you were looking forward to getting your hands on the upcoming expansion, Warlords of Draenor, or if you were thinking whether or not it would be worth your time and money to renew your subscription, Blizzard has officially announced on its blog that the beta for Warlords of Draenor has begun.
Prior to this, the game was still in its alpha stages so for gamers who have opted in for the beta via their Battle.net account, you could be eligible for the beta. If you have been selected, Blizzard would have sent you an email confirming it, but if you haven’t, then we guess you’re out of luck, but hopefully you will get in to future betas.
The beta will begin at the new starting zone, the Tanaan Jungle, and will allow players to explore areas like the Shadowmoon Valley for the Alliance, and Frostfire Ridge for the Horde. Blizzard also announced that the beta will not be under any NDA, so this means that we can look forward to gameplay footage and screenshots from gamers who are participating in the beta.
The expansion is expected to introduce new zones, raids, instances, battlegrounds, and visual updates. Warlords of Draenor has been pegged for a release by the end of the year, so hopefully Blizzard will conduct an open beta ahead of its release. So, did any of our readers get into the beta?

Back in 2013, we reported that famed author Neil Gaiman was working with the developers the Odd Gentlemen to create a game designed for the PC called Wayward Manor. The good news is that after being in development for a year, it looks like the game is about to be released. According to a post on The Odd Gentlemen’s Tumblr, they have announced that the game will be released on the 15th of July.
The game will be released on platforms such as Steam and the Humble Store where it has been priced at $10. In the case of the latter, 10% of the proceeds will be given to charity. For those unfamiliar with the game, it is basically where gamers will play as a ghost where they are trying to scare the occupants of the house, although given Neil Gaiman’s involvement, it should prove to be quite quirky too.
For those unfamiliar with Gaiman’s work, he has written stories such as American Gods, which is slated to be made into a television series; Coraline which was made into an animated movie, Stardust which was also made into a movie that featured Claire Danes and Robert De Niro; and he also wrote the graphic novel Sandman. So, anyone else looking forward to the game?

When you bite into a hamburger or steak, you already know the cost to the cow, but what about the wolves, coyotes, bears and other wildlife that were killed in getting that meat to your plate?
There are a lot of ways that meat production hurts wildlife, from habitat taken over by feed crops to rivers polluted by manure to climate change caused by methane emissions. But perhaps the most shocking is the number of wild animals, including endangered species and other non-target animals, killed by a secretive government agency for the livestock industry.
Last year Wildlife Services, an agency within the Department of Agriculture, killed more than 2 million native animals. While wolf-rancher conflicts are well known, the death toll provided by the agency also included 75,326 coyotes, 3,700 foxes and 419 black bears. Even prairie dogs aren’t safe: They’re considered pests, blamed for competing with livestock for feed and creating burrow systems that present hazards for grazing cattle. The agency killed 12,186 black-tailed prairie dogs and destroyed more than 30,000 of their dens.
The methods used to kill these animals are equally shocking: death by exploding poison caps, suffering in inhumane traps and gunned down by men in airplanes and helicopters.
How many of the 2 million native animals were killed to feed America’s meat habit? No one really knows. This is where the secrecy comes in: While we know that they frequently respond to requests from the agricultural community to deal with “nuisance animals,” Wildlife Services operates with few rules and little public oversight. That’s why the Center for Biological Diversity, where I work, has called on the Obama administration to reform this rogue agency to make it more transparent and more accountable. Despite the growing outcry from the public, scientists, non-governmental organizations and members of Congress, the federal agency shows no signs of slowing its killing streak.
There are two important ways that you can help rein in Wildlife Services. First, sign our online petition demanding that the Department of Agriculture create rules and public access to all of the agency’s activities. Second, start taking extinction off your plate. Our growing population will mean a growing demand for meat and for the agency’s deadly services, unless we take steps to reduce meat consumption across the country. By eating less or no meat, you can reduce your environmental footprint and help save wildlife.
