Apple Issues New EFI Update For Mid-2011 MacBook Airs

macbook air 2013 3 800x270 640x216A little over a week ago, Apple issued an EFI update to their mid-2011 MacBook Air models. The update was meant to fix certain issues about the laptop, such as it taking a long time to wake up after going to sleep, and also how the fans of the laptop would suddenly kick into high gear which could end up draining the battery.

However the update itself was flawed and in some cases, caused certain models to experience system crashes, after which the laptop had to be taken back to the Apple store to get it fixed and rolled back to the previous update. Well the good news is that Apple seems to have addressed the issue and has since rolled out a new EFI update.

As expected the new EFI update will still address the problems we mentioned above, but hopefully this time round, the updates will be a lot smoother than the previous update and not cause any problems for its users. According to reports so far, most users have had no problems installing the update.

It has been suggested that the previous problems caused by the earlier update could be due to a bad install file, as opposed to there being a bug in the update itself. In any case if you have been holding back on updating, we guess now’s a good time to go ahead and check it out.

Vin Diesel is really into music, that we know. But while promoting his new movie “Guardians of the Galaxy,” the baritone actor took on quite the challenge: Capital FM asked him to sing Sam Smith’s sweet summer jam, “Stay with Me,” and boy, did he try:

As for Smith? He’s pretty happy:

LG G Vista Now Available From Verizon

As we had reported yesterday, it looks like the rumors were true because Verizon has since officially announced the availability of the LG G Vista. The handset will be priced at $99.99 with a new two-year contract, but for those who are unwilling to commit themselves to Verizon for the next two years, the handset will be available off-contract for a more expensive $399.99.

The rumors were also right about the handset’s specs. Verizon has listed the device as sporting a 5.7-inch 720p qHD display. This is compared to the LG G3 who shares the same design, but has a smaller display of 5.5-inches with a QHD display, making it a lot sharper than the LG G Vista. We’re not sure if this will bother some users, but if you’re shopping on a budget then we guess you can’t really complain.

The LG G Vista will also be powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor and will feature 1.5GB of RAM, a 3,200mAh battery, 8GB of onboard storage expandable via microSD, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, and will come with Android 4.4.2 KitKat preinstalled. If you’re interested in picking one up for yourself, then head on over to Verizon’s website for the details.

Judy Greer Is An Eternal 'Co-Star', But Her Style Takes The Lead

Even if you don’t know Judy Greer by name, you know her well, we promise.

She’s been in most of your favorite romantic comedies, starred on one of our favorite TV shows ever and is perfectly aware that you probably don’t even know who she is. After all, the title of her upcoming book is “I Don’t Know What You Know Me From: Confessions of a Co-Star.”

But there’s something else you should know about this familiar face: she’s got some serious style. From her funky use of color to having hair that looks good just about any way it’s styled, the 39-year-old is the star of the show as far as we’re concerned… at least when it comes to fashion sense.

Here’s why Judy Greer is our underrated style star of the week:

HTC J Butterfly Announced In Japan

htc j butterflyIt seems that over in Japan, Japanese carrier KDDI has announced a new HTC smartphone that they will be adding to their portfolio in the form of the HTC J Butterfly. The handset will feature specs similar to that of the HTC One M8, but with a couple of differences which guess could be good or bad depending on how you look at it.

Most obvious would be the fact that the HTC J Butterfly will sport a plastic build, versus the metal build from on the HTC One M8. However at the same time, the HTC J Butterfly will offer up IPX7 protection, meaning that it will be able to withstand immersions underwater, a feature that is lacking on the current HTC One M8.

Apart from that, interestingly enough the design of the HTC J Butterfly appears to be a lot sleeker and smoother, which we’re guessing is thanks to its plastic build. While HTC has kept the dual camera setup, the rear-facing camera is of the 13MP variety instead of the UltraPixel technology that HTC touts with the HTC One M8.

We should also point out that the HTC J Butterfly has front-facing stereo speakers but they are not of the BoomSound system. We can’t tell if there will be any different in audio quality since we haven’t tested it ourselves, but hopefully it won’t be that huge a deal. It is unlikely that the HTC J Butterfly will be making its way stateside, but if you’re in Japan perhaps it could be a phone worth checking out.
