Why do you need a tiny climate sensor? Who knows, but Clime is making them. These tiny sensors – shaped like little candies – can transmit the current temperature wirelessly to phones and other devices and will soon able to offer far more interesting data with the help of a tiny chip-based sensor array. Android Wear is finally shipping to early adopters which can mean only one thing: a slew of third-party apps and hacks. Now, the first are here.
Recent debate about network neutrality has largely focused on how to make sure broadband providers don’t manipulate their customers’ Internet connections (or as John Oliver put it, how to prevent “cable company f*ckery”). But in today’s world of smartphones and tablets people are spending less of their time on the Internet typing at a computer and more of it swiping on a smartphone. This is why it’s critically important for net neutrality principles to apply to mobile broadband too.
It seems like most things come in threes: celebrity deaths, game console makers and, well, apparently privatized space-faring companies too. On that note, FireFly Space Systems (which includes former SpaceX and Virgin Galactic employees) has recently…
Ford has recalled 100,610 of its vehicles spread across six different recalls, all of which were revealed yesterday. No accidents are known to have resulted from the issues, fortunately. Most of the recalled vehicles span model years 2012 through 2014. The recalls primarily concern the Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS, Police Interceptor, Flex, Lincoln MKT, Edge, and Lincoln MKX. All vehicles … Continue reading
The LG G Watch has certainly garnered its fair share of attention in recent times, and we do realize that it also ranks pretty high on the repairability scale according to the folks over at iFixit. Well, what other kinds of news can the LG G Watch muster this time around? It has already received the first customer Android Wear ROM, and boy did it not take too long for something like this to happen. As the bootloader happens to be unlockable, while the LG G Watch makes use of fastboot, developer jakeday managed to come up with the Gohma ROM rather than use his time to figure out a way to unlock the LG G Watch and gain access to the system.
So far, there has been no source code released for the custom Android Wear ROM, but we do keep our fingers crossed that it will be based off the stock firmware. According to the developer, this custom Android Wear ROM will be able to offer improved battery life as well as performance, although that remains to be seen by the other LG G Watch owners who are willing to give it a go. Would you muddle around with Android Wear when it comes to custom ROMs?

When it comes to a piece of hardware, it certainly pays dividends for the manufacturer to ensure that timely updates are introduced in order to make sure that the device itself remains competitive in the market for as long as possible, eking out every single iota of performance before a next generation model arrives. As for the Samsung Galaxy Note PRO 12.2, Verizon Wireless has pushed out a new update that is touted to squash any other bugs that caused minor issues while tweaking the firmware with several updates, leaving the operating system to remain at Android 4.4.2 KitKat without making any further progress for its version number.
In this particular update, a bug fix is introduced for the default Calendar app, where one will also enjoy better stability when it comes to the Science and Technology sections of the Magazine UX, while there is also another option to do away with local content from the lockscreen where all security methods are concerned. Apps including the likes of Kindle and VZ Navigator, too, will be updated, alongside the introduction of new widgets for the WatchON and Hancom Office apps.
Expect this update to be known by its build number KOT49H.P905VVRUANE4, where it is currently arriving via Over The Air, so it ought to arrive within the coming few days on your Galaxy Note PRO 12.2 if it hasn’t yet done so already.

As many of you guys are aware, Nokia has a lineup of Android devices that falls under the Nokia X family. These are hardly the most powerful Android devices around and presumably they were created to help Microsoft gain some market share in developing markets where low-end devices are high in demand due to their affordability.
Now if you were still on the fence regarding the Nokia X series of handsets, you might be pleased to learn that Nokia and Gameloft have teamed up to offer Nokia X owners €40 worth of games to download for free from now until the 31st of August. So as long as you own the Nokia X, the Nokia X+, and/or the Nokia XL, you will be eligible to download games for free.
Oddly enough Nokia has decided not to include the Nokia X2 although we can’t be sure why. In any case some of the games that Nokia and Gameloft will be giving away includes Real Football 2014, Asphalt 8: Airborne, and Dungeon Hunter 4. To download these games, head on over to the Nokia Store from your phone’s menu, go to “Exclusive Free Offer” from the Collections section of the app store, and tap the game that you want to download and just follow the instructions on the screen to install it.

There has been a lot of talk regarding Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6. The device has been rumored for an announcement later this year, with some claiming October while others claim late September. That being said, one of the rumored sizes of the iPhone 6 is a 5.5-inch model and that the device could be known as the iPhone Air.
According to a recent post on Spigen’s Google+ account, it seems that the company is preparing its customers for the upcoming launch, and in the process “confirming” both the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch model, while not-so subtly hinting at the iPhone Air moniker. As you can see in the image above, the tagline reads, “There’s something in the air”, which presumably alludes to the iPhone Air name.
In any case Spigen has put their products up on Amazon where they are up for pre-order. According to Spigen, it seems that they expect their iPhone 6 cases to be available on the 30th of September, which coincidentally enough is shortly after one of the rumored launch dates of the iPhone 6.
Of course it is entirely possible that Spigen is speculating about the size and availability of the iPhone 6. Case manufacturers tend to do that since getting products out of the door ahead or at launch would be ideal as it would cater to customers who are looking for something to protect their brand new purchases, so until we hear from Apple officially, try not to get your hopes up just yet.

Dog’s are such versatile creatures, not only as pets, but as working companions with the long arm of the law. Sniffer dogs that are highly trained are able to pinpoint contraband and illegal items and substances, drugs included, in the luggage of would be traffickers. Not only that, a dog’s nose is so sensitive, some of them have even been trained to sniff out cancer cells, now how about that? In one of the more recent news involving sniffer dogs, a suspect was arrested after he was discovered to be carrying a USB memory stick that had child sexual abuse images inside.
Rhode Island police’s latest pride and joy, Thoreau, completed a whopping 22 weeks of training that included sniffing out gadgets – in return for food as a reward, of course. There is one other US gadget-sniffing dog that is currently stationed in Connecticut, and does this particular bust justify the long and intense training that a dog has to go through? Perhaps, especially when you consider how such evidence garnered in the arrest might help the authorities locate and crack down on such child sexual abuse rings in the future.
According to Thoreau’s handler, Det Adam Houston, “If it has a memory card, he’ll sniff it out.” It remains to be seen if Thoreau is able to tell the difference between a memory stick and other electrical equipment such as a remote control, computer, or radio.
