Donald Glover will be voicing the alternate-reality Spider-Man Miles Morales in an upcoming episode of the Disney-run television series coming up this Sunday. For those of you (what we must imagine the very few of you) that know Miles Morales from the comic book series, this should come as an awesome surprise. The original character was, after all, based in … Continue reading

Instagram was launched over four years ago and it is now one of the most widely used online services for sharing pictures around the world. The company was acquired by Facebook and even under the social network Instagram retains its independent brand. Instagram today announced the launch of Hyperlapse, an app that will enable users to create high quality time lapse videos even in motion, so there will be no need to hold the smartphone firm as the user films.
Hyperlapse has been developed keeping in mind Instagram’s priorities which includes creating simple and powerful tools that allow users to express creativity and capture moments, at least that’s what the company says. It claims that Hyperlapse has been developed to be “as simple as possible,” an account is not needed to use the new app.
When launched the app opens straight to the camera where users can tap once to start recording and tap again to stop. Playback speeds between 1x-12x can be chosen and tapping on the green check mark saves the final time lapse video to the camera roll, from where it can be shared to Instagram.
It features built-in stabilization technology which would reduce shakiness that is almost always evident in videos recorded using a smartphone. The Hyperlapse app is now available for iOS right now, Instagram has not revealed when it will be released for Android as well.

Now here is a super effective (pardon the reference) way of milking the Pokémon franchise even further – and that is through a release of a variant game that will draw its source material from the Pokémon universe. In fact, Pokkén Tournament is a fighting game that takes part in the world of Pokémon, and it was recently announced in Japan earlier this morning. This is radical, no longer do you use your imagination and text-based descriptions on how your Pokémon fares against its opponent, but rather, it offers a chance for typical weaker types of Pokémon to actually defeat its natural “predator”, so to speak, if you have enough skill to do so.
Pokkén Tournament is said to be a two-player arcade game and it is currently in the pipeline thanks to a collaboration with Bandai Namco. If that name is familiar, that is because Bandai Namco happens to be the publisher of the Tekken series. Of course, if you are all too excited about seeing Pokkén Tournament appear on a Nintendo console near you anytime this year before Christmas, be prepared to be disappointed, as this particular game is tipped to roll out only in 2015. As to whether it will be early, in the middle, or at the tail end of next year, that remains to be seen, so stay tuned! We do know that the Pokémon Company has already filed for a trademark for “Pokkén Fighters” last year.

It does not take too long for one to be able to figure out that in life, there will be curveballs thrown our way whether we like it or not. What is more important would be how we deal with such tricky situations that could end up as a banana peel disaster. Well, one of the latest negative news to have filtered down to the masses concerning the military would be a U.S. Army rocket that carried an experimental hypersonic weapon actually exploded not too long after it took off from a launch complex in Kodiak, Alaska.
It was not due to some long range enemy attack, or a malfunctioning anti-missile defense system going nuts, but rather, the Defense Department indicated that this unfortunate incident happened due to a flight anomaly, and officials are currently on the lookout for the reason behind such an anomaly. It was said that the explosion happened approximately 12 miles from the launch site, and thankfully, nobody was hurt and no lives were lost – just some wounded pride not to mention one experimental hypersonic weapon being destroyed just like that.
Hopefully the DoD would be able to figure out how to prevent something like this from ever happening again in the future, and that such an experimental weapon would be a success so that the U.S. would gain the capability of letting conventional weapons hit a target within an hour regardless of where it was fired. Now that is a scary thought, and Halloween isn’t even here yet.

Popular on demand ridesharing service Uber has been experimenting with a couple of new business ideas that might help the company grow. These include services such as Corner Store which delivers products from local stores to customers in selected localities right now. The company is now trying its hand at lunch delivers. Today Uber announced that its exploring lunch deliveries until next month in Santa Monica. Anyone in the area can order lunch through the Uber app.
This experiment starts off on August 26th and runs through September 5th. Lunch orders will be accepted between 11:30am and 2:30pm. Uber has put together a prix fixe menu of “west-side favorites” for every day of the week. It won’t be possible to order lunch from your favorite restaurant or deli though.
The uberFRESH lunch delivery option will be available in the app itself, orders will not be taken on weekends. Delivery location must be within the Santa Monica coverage area and since the delivery will be kerbside, users will have to meet the driver outside to pick up their lunch. Drivers will not climb up to an office building or walk up to a door.
Payments will be processed through the Uber account so no cash will be involved. As is the case with Uber’s services, no tipping is expected. If the company gets satisfied by this experiment perhaps it will open up the lunch delivery service to more cities for a greater time, but it makes no promises of that right now.

Recently it was reported that Microsoft is readying the technology preview of Windows 9 which the company is expected to release next month. Over the past few weeks certain details about the upcoming iteration of Windows have leaked online, but its imperative to note that there has been no confirmation from Redmond, so its possible that last minute changes might be made. A new report published today claims that interactive Live Tiles are also on the cards for Windows 9 aka Threshold.
This isn’t the first time that interactive Live Tiles have come into the picture. Microsoft has worked on this feature in the past as part of a research effort but it never made it to Windows. According to WinBeta, this feature will be included in Windows 9. A notification center is also claimed to be onboard.
The scribe does not that both of these features won’t be included in the technology preview that is expected to be released next month. However they’re both said to be locked in for the final version of Windows 9, which might be released in April 2015.
Word on the street is that Microsoft will update the Windows 9 technology preview once or twice a month to add new features so we might get a clearer picture of the next Windows iteration as the time progresses. Some of the other features that it is expected to bring include virtual desktops, revamped Charms bar, mini Start Menu and even integration of Cortana.

When you talk about a web browser on the Android platform, most of the time we would be looking at the stock browser that arrives with any version of Android, while many others have already decided to jump aboard the Chrome Browser bandwagon. Well, we do know for sure now that out of the 19,000 different Android devices (as in types, not the total figure – for instance, there might be 5 million units of a particular type that are in the market) that are being used globally at the moment, there are approximately 100 million active Android users who are rocking to an Opera Browser on their particular device.
This is a huge figure by any means, and definitely not one to be sneezed at. In fact, Opera Software made this particular announcement and are pleased as punch that this figure is double that of what they had just one year ago, going to show how it has grown by leaps and bounds in the past 12 months.
As for the countries that have the highest number of Opera users on Android, it would be India at the top of the list, followed by China, Indonesia, Russia and Mexico. Notice how all of these countries have extremely high population levels? What next for the Opera Browser? [Press Release]

It cannot be said enough – the iPhone 6, or whatever it is going to be called when it is finally unveiled to the masses in its sapphire display infused glory, will definitely be a hit, although just how huge of a hit will it be remains to be seen. However, there is a general sense of optimism that is going through the tech community, especially when high trade-in volume for the iPhone has triggered speculation that sales of the iPhone 6 will be nothing short of tremendous.
Jeff Trachsel, chief marketing officer at NextWorth, shared his sentiment, “There’s tremendous pent-up demand for a larger-screen iPhone. We’ve seen a lift of about 350% from the baseline this week. That’s up from a lift of 182% last year, or almost two times the acceleration.”
Are people that sick of the previous generation iPhone that they simply cannot wait to get hold of the new one? It does make me wonder when will Apple introduce dust and waterproof capabilities to their flagship handset as a standard feature, as some of its Android-powered rivals have already done so. Perhaps that is not so much an issue among iPhone users? Just how well do you think the next generation iPhone will do when it is finally made available to the open market? The two screen strategy has surely worked its magic in raising plenty of interest.

In such economically trying times, it makes perfect sense to ensure that consumers would be able to get the best bang for their hard earned buck. The thing is, searching for value can be a pretty difficult thing to do these days, but thankfully some companies come right off the bat to tout that as the best selling “feature” of a particular product. If you are looking for a new decent smartphone that does not break the bank, perhaps you can look in the direction of the ZTE Warp Sync that has arrived on Boost Mobile, where it will cost just $179.99 a pop.
As its name suggests, the ZTE Warp Sync is the fourth iteration of the extremely popular Warp handsets that have seen ZTE being “boosted” (pardon the pun, for the lack of a better word) to be the second largest handset manufacturer in the no-contract market. In fact, for under a couple of Benjamins, the ZTE Warp Sync is hands down the winner when it comes to the kind of features offered.
We are talking about Android 4.4.2 KitKat as the operating system of choice, accompanied by 5” HD, scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass display, has a Li-ion 2300mAh battery, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz processor, an 8MP LED flash rear-camera and a 1.6 MP front-camera, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Dolby Digital Plus Audio, 8GB of internal memory and 2GB RAM.
