Upcoming Super Smash Bros Roster Leaked (Rumor)

smashbros leakIf you are not the kind of person who would like to experience a leak of a particular game or movie before the official release date, then it would be good to stop reading this, and prevent yourself from taking a peek at the right image. As you can tell, this story will concern the possible roster from the upcoming Super Smash Bros for the Wii U and 3DS, where both of them are obviously Nintendo consoles.

An anonymous person (that is how it normally works where leaks and rumors are concerned online) put up what is touted to be leaked images of screenshots from the Nintendo 3DS version of Super Smash Bros., where one of the alleged screenshots happen to show off the game’s character select screen. From what we can tell, a fair number of them have not been announced on an official basis just yet by Nintendo.

Apparently, videos of the alleged game itself running on the Nintendo 3DS platform have also been published today (although they have since been taken down due to copyright issues), where Bowser Jr. and Shulk from Xenoblade, duke it out against one another. It does not take a genius to tell long time fans of the series that these two happen to be part of the unannounced characters which has appeared on the character select roster. Do you like what you see so far?

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Overheating Issues Could Be Solved

microsoft surface pro 3 42 640x426How do you view problems? Do you see it as an opportunity to be able to fix things, or are you one who runs away in the opposite direction? Well, there was word concerning the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 that ran on the Core i7 processor going through overheating issues, and it seems that there are some users who have stepped up to the plate and offered solutions of their own. Do bear in mind that Microsoft has not shared what could be the cause behind the overheating issues, so right now it is the community of users who are handling it.

User Step_001 shared over in the Microsoft Support forums that the issue can be attributed to the Windows Installer Module, as well as the Windows Installer Module Worker. These processes happen to kick off at random, where they will run in the background and eat up a huge chunk of CPU processing power and memory. Due to this, the Surface Pro 3 then overheats, or right before that, will “treat” our ears to fans that spin at extremely annoying levels.

Others who have killed these processes claim that both fan and overheating issues no longer plague them, and it remains to be seen whether this is the cure-all solution for Surface Pro 3 owners, or are there some other issues that need to be weeded out. Hopefully Microsoft steps forward with some concrete answers, soon.

FreedomPop Could Be Purchased

freedompop cell phoneIt is not strange to hear of companies being acquired by other companies from time to time, and this time around, it would be Sprint and FreedomPop that happened to have waded into the whole area of an acquisition by another major carrier. So far, there has been whispers making their rounds, especially after Sprint decided not to pick up T-Mobile earlier in August. FreedomPop CEO Stephen Stokols has also stepped forward to confirm that his company happens to be the target of a possible buyout, although the amount of information revealed has stopped right there.

Do you think that Sprint has an interest in FreedomPop as a company? After all, it is not as though the two of them have not dealt with one another in the past, but this certainly makes plenty of sense from a certain angle. When one looks as this situation from a different angle, however, things do seem a little bit different, as recently appointed Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure intends to have Sprint go up against the likes of Verizon and AT&T without the need for any kind of acquisition. Hence, it is really anybody’s guess right now, or perhaps even status quo for FreedomPop might remain – who knows?

Verizon Motorola Luge Is Rebranded DROID RAZR M

Moto Luge VerizonWord on the street had it that Verizon was working on the Motorola Luge, where this particular smartphone would continue to remain ahead of the curve by sporting LTE connectivity, while having its crosshairs targeted at Verizon’s range of prepaid customers. Well, it seems that a Verizon display card image for this particular device has been revealed, and for those who were licking your lips in anticipation of something new, you might be disappointed to see that the Motorola Luge is nothing more than a DROID RAZR M that has gone through a rebranding exercise.

As for the DROID RAZR M, which so happens to be a smartphone that was rolled out close to two years back, it is more or less what the Motorola Luge looks like, a device that is being prepared so that it can roll out later this coming 28th of August. While the software itself is closer to stock, everything else about the hardware more or less remains the same, including a 4.3” qHD display at 540 x 960 resolution, a Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 1.5GHz processor, 1GB RAM, an 8MP shooter at the back, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC connectivity; and a 2,000mAh non-removable battery.

The Luge does go one better on the DROID RAZR M with a 0.9MP front-facing camera though, so go figure.

8-Bit Baby Sends Newborns To Sleep With Video Game Lullabies

8bit babyFor those of you who grew up on a steady diet of video games, just how many of the tunes of the classic titles do you remember that you would love to impart to your next generation, so that they too, are able to continue the “good fight”, so to speak? Well, perhaps you can start them young with this particular album of lullabies, made possible courtesy of brothers Mark and Dan Polydoris who will allow those tunes to keep baby entertained, and who knows, ingrained with such classic tunes for video game enthusiasts so that they will be able to grow up to be the next generation of joystick warriors.

8-Bit Baby happens to be an eight-track album which will include instrumental lullabies of themes from the likes of Contra, Super Mario Bros. 2, and Metroid, among others. The whole idea for 8-Bit Baby came about as a creation when an uncle wanted to gift his nephew something at a baby shower.

The search for a cool lullaby album led to the realization that there were no such albums in the market that were based on classic video game music, and taking the situation by the horns, it made perfect sense to come up with a DIY version. Those who are interested can fork out $7.92 for the album over on iTunes.

Call Of Duty A Recruitment Front For Jihadists?

cod recruitAh, video games. This is one particular topic that will never run out of arguments, whether it is good or bad for the gamer. While it has been linked in a study between video games and depression, here we are with a British father of two radicalized fighters, citing that the video game Call of Duty was the medium of choice used to recruit Jihadists, and his sons fell to such a ploy.

57 year old Ahmed Muthana claims that two of his pride and joy, Nasser and Aseel, were recruited in order to fight for Islamic State after playing the violent game. Muthana cited that he did not want to purchase the first person shooter game for his children while they were still growing up in Cardiff, and he has strong reason to believe that the very same people who radicalized his sons could also have been the channel to pass them the game as part of the “preparation” process.

While titles like Call of Duty might be extremely realistic, they would prove inadequate to handle what goes on in the battlefield, as the real world is totally different altogether, and there is absolutely no chance to respawn after being killed. Do you think Muthana’s assessment of the situation is correct?

China Works On ‘Supersonic Submarine’

china subIt looks like China is not only content on coming up with their very own version of a desktop operating system, but the country is also looking to deliver what they call a ‘supersonic submarine’, where this mode of transportation will make use of an underwater bubble in order to travel a whole lot faster while it is under water. Just how much faster? Think supersonic speeds, and you have a general idea on the situation.

Apparently, such submarines in the future will work within a ‘bubble’ so that the total amount of drag can be reduced. In other words, this would enable it to achieve supersonic speeds, and if such a technique can be perfected to expand its area of application, then we could see the development of superfast swimsuits as well.

This new submarine will be based on Soviet technology that has been developed during the Cold War. Known as supercavitation, the idea would see a submerged vessel remain enveloped within an air bubble, hence doing away with the issue of water drag. In fact, a Soviet supercavitation torpedo known as Shakval managed to hit a speed of at least 370km/h, making it a whole lot faster than other conventional torpedoes. Theoretically speaking, a supercavitating vessel is able to hit speeds of 5,800km/h, meaning folks can travel from one continent to another in an hour, while a transpacific journey might be reduced to just 100 minutes, now how about that?

The 1 Minute Blog. Befriending the Enemy.

2014-08-26-cab4.jpgFoto and Ahmed were supposed to be enemies, soldiers at war when Ethiopia and Eritrea were embroiled in battle.

Destiny had other plans.

The Eritrean, Foto, who I’ve written about before, and the Ethiopian, Ahmed, each found their way to San Diego and a peaceful co-existence as fellow taxi drivers. They share a cab; Ahmed takes the day shift, Foto works at night.

Who would have guessed that Foto and Ahmed’s parallel paths would intersect at a Yellow Cab?

Foto, at 16, found the brutality of war intolerable. He set out solo, and crossed the desert into Sudan in seven long days. Six months later he went to Florida, and finally, San Diego.

Ahmed, at the same age, decided he didn’t want to kill people, particularly Eritreans in other villages who spoke the same language (Amharic) and ate the same Ethiopian food.

He plotted his escape, hiding in a truck to get through the border into Kenya. He later went to Calgary, Canada, then Seattle, Washington before landing in San Diego.

Both outsmarted war and fate by choosing peace.

I felt lucky to ride in their taxi when traveling to my mother’s birthday celebration. I rode with Foto on my way from the airport, and with Ahmed on the way back.

I’m grateful I chatted with both of them. Too often we miss intriguing stories because we’re preoccupied, either by talking on our cell phones or texting.

Their stories were compelling, and it made me realize how talking to cab drivers often can be a history lesson … a story of war and peace.
