Nexus X To Roll Out This Halloween (Rumor)

google nexus logoThere were rumors of the upcoming Motorola Shamu being the Nexus 6, before some other later rumors claimed otherwise. Regardless, it looks like one thing is for sure – the Nexus X that is about to be announced soon? It will not be the same as the Nexus 6, or so this is where the latest rumor has led our noses to. The Nexus X is touted for a release somewhere around Halloween, without any huge fanfare or announcement to boot.

Do take into consideration that the name Nexus X has yet to be made official, although it is being touted internally by folks over at Motorola, citing that this device will carry the model number XT1100. Many other outlets have also been making use of the name Nexus 6 simply because it happens to be the sixth Nexus device in line, sporting a 5.9” display. Still, Google will most probably avoid such a name due to trademark issues.

As for the pricing details of the upcoming Nexus X, that too, is up in the air, and your guess is as good as ours. Do you think that the next generation of Nexus X device will be revolutionary as much as it will be evolutionary? Only time will tell, so stay tuned!

AMD Radeon R9 285 Announced

amd tonga gpu 970x0The folks over at AMD have just announced the AMD Radeon R9 285, where this particular graphics card will continue from where its predecessor, the Radeon R9 280, left off, and it will make use of the Tonga Pro GPU system. According to AMD, this particular card is able to outperform the Nvidia GTX 760, where it has been specially designed to enable gamers to enjoy recently released titles on the PC platform at maximum detail – which means that there will be no compromises at all when it comes to the graphical prowess department. Of course, it is not in the top of the line range, allowing the card to be positioned between the 2GB R9 270 / 270X series and the 3GB R9 280X card.

AMD touts the new R9 285 to be able to deliver up to 3.29 teraFLOPS of computing performance at a clock speed up to 918MHz. This particular stock card is able to make use of 2GB of GDDR5 memory that runs across a 256-bit interface, although there will be some third party manufacturers that will roll out a similar variant of this card – with 4GB of internal memory, of course.

Out later this September 2nd, the AMD Radeon R9 285 will boast of a full length display port, a pair of DVI outputs, as well as an HDMI port. AMD hopes to roll out the card for $249 a pop, which would clearly allow it to offer plenty of bang for your hard earned buck.

MIT Study: Humans Prefer Orders From Robots Than Own Boss

robot servesHow well do you take orders? Well, it seems that we humans are a strange lot, at least according to this particular research that hails from folks over at the MIT which confirms how within a two-human, one-robot team that are working together toward a common goal, it would be the humans who would prefer the robot be in charge. Orders from robots are preferred where handling a manufacturing task is concerned, and it looks as though with a robot in charge of the team, the entire enterprise might be more productive.

Could this be due to the possibility that no one wants to take responsibility just in case something goes wrong? Sure, efficiency is important to make sure that this world runs on time and in the best manner possible, but good luck having that order dispensing robot sympathize with you when your beloved pet dog dies, and you need to take some time off to grieve.

Strangely enough though, the workers in this study happened to say that they were more likely to mention that the robots “better understood them” and “improved the efficiency of the team.” Of course, this does not mean that robots will run the show from now on, as the robots still happen to use a human-generated algorithm to delegate, schedule, and coordinate tasks. All in all, would you prefer a robot or a human to be the one giving you orders?

Miley Cyrus Opts Out Of VMA Acceptance Speech To Advocate For Homeless Youth

Miley Cyrus won Video of the Year at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, but she didn’t accept the Moonman trophy herself. Instead, Cyrus sent a young man named Jesse to pick up the award and give a speech acknowledging the issue of youth homelessness in Los Angeles and America as a whole.

“I survived in shelters all over the city,” Jesse said. “I’ve cleaned hotel rooms been and been an extra in your movies and in your life.”

Jesse directed fans and viewers to Miley Cyrus’ Facebook page during the speech. There, Cyrus had her own note and video:

“Help me raise awareness and funds to end youth homelessness! This is just the beginning for me, but we’re going to get started now by focusing on My Friend’s Place, a homeless center for young people in Hollywood,” she wrote. More on the initiative can be found here.

Lorde's 2014 VMA Outfit Doesn't Even Make It To The Red Carpet

At this point last year, Lorde’s debut single “Royals” was just gaining steam. Now, a year later, the teenaged songstress is tearing up stages and red carpets with her impeccable unique style. This rang true for her appearance at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, where she skipped the red carpet and took her seat in a Chanel jumpsuit.

Not one to stray away from gothic glamour, we couldn’t get enough of Lorde’s long, flowing locks and her signature deep purple lipstick.

Take a peek at Lorde’s Insta-good look below.

Beyoncé's VMAs Performance Brought The Whole Carter Family Together

The Beygency can take tonight off. MTV’s VMAs honored Beyoncé with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, and she gave a 17-minute medley of her self-titled album. “Welcome to my world,” she told viewers.

She started with “Mine,” and moved into “Haunted,” before singing verses from songs including “Drunk In Love,” “Partition,” “Flawless” and “XO.”

Before the VMAs, rumors about her marriage to Jay Z dominated the tabloids. Reports said the two were getting a divorce and that Beyoncé was looking for a solo apartment (no one’s forgetting that billion-dollar elevator incident anytime soon either).

Beyonce didn’t formally address the rumors during the show, but she and Jay Z presented a united front. He brought Blue Ivy out on stage to help Beyoncé accept the Vanguard Award. Jay Z called her the “greatest living entertainer,” causing Bey to tear up and call him “my beloved.” Blue Ivy cheered on her mom. The internet wept.

Here are highlights from her performance:

A few hours before the show, a photo of her rumored set list leaked online, listing all 14 songs from “Beyoncé.”
