Nintendo has further detailed the changes in its new 3DS and 3DS XL, including how existing 3DS owners can upgrade to the improved consoles, along with some of the limitations of the new features. Current 3DS/3DS XL save data can be transferred across, though since the new version uses microSD not SD, Nintendo says the process could end up a … Continue reading
Heads up gamers, if you are in the market for a new handheld console, you might be interested to learn that Nintendo has officially announced their new Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL handheld gaming consoles. On the surface it might look like the console does not differ too greatly from the original 3DS, but it does.
For starters it seems that Nintendo has added a smaller analog stick to the control which you can see pictured above the action buttons. It’s smaller than the first analog stick although Nintendo has likened it to the GameCube’s C-stick secondary analog stick. Nintendo has also tossed in a new pair of shoulder buttons labeled ZL and ZR.
Nintendo has also made the screen of the new 3DS a little bit bigger. Previously the 3DS had a display that measured 3.5-inches, but with the new 3DS, Nintendo has bumped it to 3.88-inches. Unfortunately the same will not be applied to the new Nintendo 3DS XL which will retain its 4.88-inch display. The cartridge slots have also been moved to the front edge of the console as opposed to the rear.
The new handheld consoles have also been given a speed bump in terms of processors and will sport built-in NFC that will play nicely with Nintendo’s Amiibo interactive figurines. Other changes include the switch from SD to microSD and a replaceable battery. The new Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL will be priced at $154 and $181 respectively but unfortunately it seems that they will not be making their way stateside this year.

I am a big fan of Star Trek, and while I have never been a fan of the original show, I was very fond of all the movies with the original cast from the ’80s. I was however a huge fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I am very much a Picardian rather than a Kirkian.
At the recent Wizard World Chicago Comic Con much of the cast of TNG was on hand and naturally, selfie taking ensued. In this photo snapped by LeVar Burton, we get Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frankes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, Michael Dorn. At least Dorn’s cheek is in the image since he was mostly cut out. In the center of the selfie, you will also notice William Shatner crashing the image, though he’s looking a bit grumpy.
There is also a hapless dude that appears to just be hanging out behind the actors. All I know is that Dr. Crusher still looks good after all those years and Picard looks the same, must be all that Earl Gray tea.
Six packs go too quick. 12 packs? Still not enough. 24 packs? Still not enough. Get all of your beer for the month in one convenient pack with this pack of 99 cans of beer. Of course it comes from Texas, where bigger is always better.
Austin Beerworks created 20 of these huge 82 pound packs of beer, holding their pale blonde ale named “Peacemaker.” Naturally, the price is also $99. The package weighs 82 pounds. At least it helps you work off some of that beer belly when you buy one of these cases.
Get one while you can. And make sure you bring a friend to help you carry it. You’ll probably need a truck too.

The people at VR Coaster had a great idea: Create a 3D ride synchronized to a real world rollercoaster, put someone on the seat with an Oculus Rift headset, and let them freak the hell out as they fly through a fantastic landscape full of dragons and lava giants. Apparently, people say it’s an amazing experience.
Today’s Amazon Gold Box deal is a pair of popular Bose OE2 headphones for $80, or $30 off their usual selling price.
If your body is used to consuming alcohol every day, and you suddenly stop cold turkey, you’re going to experience withdrawal symptoms including tremors. They’re treatable with benzodiazepine drugs, but often times those can be abused by addicts who fake tremors in order to get a prescription. Spotting those fake tremors isn’t always easy, so researchers at the University of Toronto have created a smartphone app that’s incredibly hard to fool.
