Nintendo America may show no signs of getting the new 3DS and 3DS XL, but US gamers do at least get a trio of new bundles, along with details on the first range of NFC-enabled amiibo figures. Two Wii U Deluxe bundles will be offered, as well as a Nintendo 2DS bundle offered in three different colors, all in time … Continue reading
NASA has given the green light to develop the Space Launch System (SLS), the most powerful rocket in history and the method by which the US space agency expects to take humans to Mars. Under development for the past three years, the SLS is the first exploration-class vehicle to make it to development stage since the Space Shuttle, with NASA … Continue reading
However good Google Maps might be, Samsung has decided that it can offer better. Teaming up with Nokia , a beta version of Here for Android is being made available exclusively for Samsung.
If you’ve ever sat back, stared into the sky and wonder would happen if WhatsApp was taken over by a singing telegram service, then boy, today is your lucky day. Film director and artist Miranda July has teamed up with Prada sub-brand Miu Miu (nope,…
Relations between Google and Samsung are already a little tense, but the Korean smartphone maker may just have elevated those frustrations a little further. Extending its existing deal to provide mapping data on Samsung’s Tizen wearables, Nokia (the…
Samsung has cut a deal with HERE, the Nokia navigation provider, to release HERE for Android, an alternative to Google Maps. We’d noted the HERE-powered turn-by-turn navigation on the Samsung Gear S yesterday, but at the time the significance of the software and services agreement wasn’t quite clear: this is Samsung doing its level best to oust Google, and affects … Continue reading
Nintendo has updated the 3DS and 3DS LL (aka the 3DS XL), the Japanese company’s glasses-free 3D gaming handhelds, with better 3D effects and improved controls. There are plenty of instant messengers out there for you to choose from, but if you wanted something a little more unique and interactive, then the Somebody app could for you. Basically instead of delivering messages to someone directly, the app will instead seek out someone near you to deliver the message instead.
Launched artist, author, and filmmaker Miranda July, it seems that the Somebody app is hoping that instead of burying our noses in our phones all the time, this app will help us get out of our phones and into the real world where we can potentially make a new friend by delivering a message to them.
How the app works is that you choose the person you want to send the message to. Then from there, the app will use GPS to determine who the closest person is to your recipient, and when you’ve chosen the person the message will be delivered to them instead. It will also attach a photo of your intended recipient so that the person knows who they are delivering the message to.
Of course this will depend on many people having the app installed on their phones, but overall it sounds like an interesting experiment. If you don’t mind taking it for a spin, the app can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store for free.

There are more 4K televisions starting to make their way into the market and there is a good chance that 4K could become the new standard in terms of display resolution. However we guess there are many who are still holding back on upgrading because not only are 4K devices expensive for the most part, but also because there isn’t a lot of 4K-optimized content available at the moment.
Now the good news is that if you’re a subscriber to Amazon Instant video, you might be pleased to learn that Amazon will begin streaming 4K video content starting from this October. This was a feature that had been announced earlier this year and we guess we now have a date to look forward to.
Samsung will also be the first hardware partner of Amazon where they will be including Amazon’s 4K service on their UHD television sets worldwide. Along with support for 4K Amazon Instant Video, Samsung is expected to expand the availability of Netflix’s 4K content across Europe.
We’re not sure if this will help the adoption of 4K TV sets, but in case you were one of those who was holding back due to the lack of content, hopefully the rollout of 4K Amazon Instant Video will change your mind. In the meantime who else is looking forward to streaming 4K content from Amazon this October?

One of the reasons why some people get motion sickness from playing video games or by using simulators such as the Oculus Rift is because there is a disconnect between what your eyes see and your inner ear. Basically your eyes see that your character on the screen is moving, but your inner ear doesn’t register that movement and that conflict can cause motion sickness in some.
Well if you were worried about motion sickness with the Oculus Rift, then perhaps taking the Oculus Rift for a ride on a rollercoaster should solve your problems! If that sounds a bit insane, that’s pretty much what a group of researchers from the Kaiserslautern University in Germany have done.
Teaming up with rollercoaster builder Mack Rides, they have created a handful of apps for the Oculus Rift which syncs with the rollercoaster’s motion by tracking their wheels. So not only do you get the thrill of riding a rollercoaster, but at the same time you could be transported to a whole different world, like riding a horse chariot, a submarine, a space shooter, and more.
We have to say that this is a pretty awesome idea, although we guess it will most probably not be for the faint of heart. In the meantime if you’d like to learn more, you can head on over to their website for the details, or you can check out the video above to see the Oculus Rift in action!
