Ukraine rallies the Twitter troops as Russia invades

Strange as it may seem, wars aren’t just fought with bullets and bombs anymore. Tweets and shares can at times be equally potent, and that’s probably why Ukraine mounted a social offensive yesterday after Russian troops began engaging with domestic…

The Blacklist On Netflix Possibly Confirmed

Netflix is a very popular online video streaming service that offers thousands of movies, TV shows and documentaries for on-demand streaming. It regularly adds new titles to its lineup usually without much fanfare. However when a show is a major network’s poster child, and one that fans would certainly want on Netflix, the hype machine starts up. A report published today confirms possible launch of The Blacklist on Netflix.

NBC’s The Blacklist saw immediate success when its first season aired last year. The network reportedly pulled in a staggering 12 million viewers per episode. The second season will start airing late September. For now its not available on any online streaming service, be it Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Instant Video.

Deadline is reporting today that a deal has been struck between Netflix and NBC which will give the former exclusive online streaming rights to The Blacklist. Apparently Netflix will be paying $2 million per episode for these rights to Sony Pictures TV which produces the show and happens to be its distributor.

No doubt that this is the highest that Netflix, or any other online streaming service for that matter, has paid for streaming rights. But having exclusive rights to one of the most popular network shows may definitely be worth the expenditure.

iPhone 6 Price Increase Rumored

iphone 6 1

Earlier today Apple finally confirmed when it will be unveiling the new iPhones. Invites were sent out today by the company for an event that will take place on September 9th. This date had already been rumored quite a few times before Apple sent out the invites. The possibility that this year the company might increase the price of its smartphone has been debated upon a lot over the past few weeks. Sources within a Spanish carrier claim that the iPhone 6 price will certainly be more than its predecessor.

This report comes from MovilZone which claims to have sources inside major Spanish carrier Telefonica. Apparently the carrier is still hammering out the details of a pricing plan with Apple but it expects the company to charge more for both iPhone models.

Apple is expected to unveil two new iPhone models this year, the major difference between the two is believed to be the display size, 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch to be precise. It is reported that the former will cost €750 and the latter €950, that translates to roughly $980 and $1,250 respectively. However that’s not indicative of what the price might in the U.S.

As far as the U.S. pricing is concerned previous rumors have claimed that there will be a $100 increase in the price for both models. Surveys have also showed that customers are willing to absorb the price raise provided that both new iPhones bring larger displays.

Apple hasn’t confirmed iPhone 6 prices at this point in time so obviously we will have to wait until September 9th to find out for sure. A new report yesterday claimed that the new iPhones will start shipping from September 19th.

Not only does this cabinet have a cute joystick and two tiny buttons, it also has coin slots, a coin collector tray and a “circuit board.” But the best part of this scale model is that it has interchangeable cartridges… which are also the displays. Clever!

Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Clothing Will Protect Cyclists From Road Rash

Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Clothing Will Protect Cyclists From Road Rash

Donning a full suit of motorcycle leathers for your morning bike ride to work is probably overkill, but cyclists can still be subjected to road rash should they fall while wearing less-than-protective gear. So athletic gear manufacturer Scott is developing shorts and jerseys strategically reinforced in key areas using both carbon fiber and ceramics, so the garments hold up if the rider ends up sliding across pavement.
