T-Mobile Open To A Sale At $35 Per Share

t mobile logo 2 640x480

It was first rumored earlier this year that Sprint is interested in acquiring T-Mobile. Softbank, which owns Sprint, had even arranged for financing of the deal, it was reported at one point. But recently reports claiming that the deal was dead surfaced. Since then T-Mobile received an offer from a French telecom company but that was rejected. It looks like T-Mobile still might be open for sale provided someone comes with an offer of $35 per share.

Deutsche Telekom owns the majority stake in T-Mobile U.S. and today Bloomberg reports that it is willing to accept an offer of $35 per share or more. The scribe cites a “person with knowledge of the matter,” who asked not to be identified as these internal deliberations at Deutsche Telekom are confidential.

Iliad, the aforementioned French telecom company, had presented a $33 per share bid to T-Mobile’s owners which they had rejected. The Iliad brass is yet to come up with a revised offer and there might be a chance of the offer being accepted as DT has signaled in the past as well that it would accept a proposal if the price is right.

Its possible that federal regulators may not have major concerns over such a takeover. Sprint and T-Mobile merging together would have created consolidation in the U.S. market which regulators were reportedly opposed to. This way T-Mobile would remain an independent carrier with different ownership. But it remains to be seen if some suitor comes up with an offer that T-Mobile can’t refuse.

IBM Transforms U.S. Open Tennis Data Into Music

ibm sessionsWho would have thought that sport could actually be transformed into something that is like an art form? This is exactly what the folks over at IBM did – by using tennis data collected over at the U.S. Open, where a ‘Sessions’ app will then make music out the collection of tennis matches there thanks to analytics.

One might think that there is some sort of soothing rhythm to a long rally, and you might be correct in thinking that way after all. IBM has come up with this particular project to show off the power of analytics as well as cloud technology, and the company decided to roll out an online campaign that they call “Sessions” over at the U.S. Open.

Users are able to listen to the various “compositions” made by players as matches at the U.S. Open website go on. The creation of the app was not that simple, but neither was it all that complicated. IBM worked alongside electronic musician James Murphy, and agency partner Ogilvy & Mather New York.

Ann Rubin, VP-branded content and global creative at IBM, said, “For every match that is played, users can listen to music generated from the match in real time. It allows you to engage with our brand in a unique way. Analytics and cloud technology are hard things to explain, so it’s good for us to show these technologies in action, in ways people can understand.”

T-Mobile Has It Will Offer HTC One (M8) For Windows

htconem8 windowsIt looks like the folks over at T-Mobile have something to offer the masses – something that Verizon Wireless already did not too long ago, and that would be the Windows Phone-powered version of the HTC One (M8), which will be called (are you ready for a mouthful?) the HTC One (M8) for Windows.

This is set to happen some time soon, and although no particular concrete release date was set by T-Mobile, it is said that it ought to be up for purchase by the time the holiday season rolls around. Apart from that, pricing details too, have yet to be determined, but if history were to be any indicator, it would be quite out of character of T-Mobile to actually slap a higher price point on the HTC One (M8) for Windows will be higher than that of the Android-powered version, where the latter was available since March this year.

In terms of hardware, the HTC One (M8) for Windows would be similar to that of the Android-powered version, including a full-metal chassis, a 5” display with 1080 x 1920 pixels, HTC’s trademark BoomSound speakers, a quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB of internal memory, and a 2600 mAh battery. Are you stoked to pick this up if you are a T-Mobile subscriber? [Press Release]

Sprint International Wi-Fi Calling Update Released

sprint

Several of Sprint’s devices have already received the Wi-Fi calling update. It allows the device to make voice calls over a Wi-Fi network. The feature is great for when a user is stuck in someplace where there is no or little cell reception. Sprint is now expanding the scope of this feature today by rolling out the international Wi-Fi calling update.

The first device which is going to receive this international Wi-Fi calling update is the Samsung Galaxy S4 with Sprint Spark. It does pretty much what the name suggests. Users will be able to call back to the U.S., U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico wherever they might be in the world at no additional cost, all they will need is a Wi-Fi connection.

Users will be able to access voice and messaging services over existing Wi-Fi networks with this latest update. It will be rolled out free of charge to customers with compatible Android smartphones. As previously mentioned Galaxy S4 with Sprint Spark is the first device that’s getting the update. Additional devices will be added throughout 2014.

At a time when messaging apps that offer free voice calling are a dime a dozen this probably won’t be a feature that is going to bring new subscribers over to Sprint. But for this carrier’s subscribers it eliminates the need to install any such app.

The Compact Folding Bow is modern version of a traditional bow

Compact Folding Bow

We’re relatively safe in day-to-day activities, but there’s always the fear that our current state of life is going to change drastically. Civilization as we know it could come crashing down, and we would hardly know how to feed ourselves let alone keep safe from others who are up to no good. It’s in everyone’s best interest to learn some form of self-defense even when you don’t face daily threats, but if hand-to-hand combat is not your style, why not carry a bow and arrows around with you?

Ok, ok, that won’t really work for you in the modern world, but if you’ve always been interested in archery and have a fear of the apocalypse, then the Go Primal Bow would be a perfect addition to your preparedness gear. This is traditional in the sense that it is a long bow, but it is far different from its ancestors. This is made from aircraft-grade aluminum and fiberglass, and not only does it close to 23 inches, making it easy to carry around, but it also has a built-in arrow shelf.

When completely open, this is 59 inches in length, and can shoot at an average speed of 181 feet per second. It can be adjusted easily for right or left-handed users, and draws at 47-55 pounds. It only weighs 2.25 pounds, which means it wouldn’t add too much extra weight to a backpack. If you’re not looking to use this for post-apocalyptic purposes, then this would be great for hunters who are looking for a compact back-up weapon.
