Apple iPhone 6 Event Confirmed For September 9th

apple iphone 6 event confirmed 640x543

The day we had all been waiting for is finally here. There has been no shortage of speculation about the day when Apple will unveil its brand new iPhones. Apple has stuck with the month of September for previous iPhone launches so it was expected that this time around the company will stick with its traditional release cycle once again. Indeed it has. Apple has just sent out press invitations for an iPhone 6 event on September 9th.

It is imperative to mention here that the September 9th date has already been floating around for the past few weeks. Initially it was only a rumor but ultimately it has turned out to be true. Apple CEO Tim Cook and top executives will take the stage on the aforementioned date to show the company’s new iPhones to the world.

This year the iPhones are expected to receive some of the biggest changes yet, including but not limited to significantly larger displays. It is believed that two new models will be shown off, one with a 4.7-inch display and the other with a 5.5-inch display. There have already been numerous rumors about the specifications of these new iPhones.

Just yesterday it was also reported that Apple’s much awaited wearable device will also be unveiled alongside the new iPhones on September 9th. As always the invite itself doesn’t offer too many hints about what’s actually going to be announced, so we’ll have to stay put until the day the announcement is due to find out for sure.

Microsoft OneDrive App For Android Updated With New Features

onedrive

Today Microsoft has released updates for its OneDrive cloud storage app on various platforms, with the Android app receiving the most significant update. OneDrive is Microsoft’s cloud storage service which was previously known as SkyDrive though the name had to be changed due to a lawsuit. One of the biggest features added to the app for Android is called OneDrive for Business Integration, which allows users to access both personal and work files on the device without having to switch accounts.

OneDrive app on Android will also allow users to upload files to business accounts. OneDrive for Business accounts are provided to customers which subscribe to Microsoft’s Office 365 suite, they receive a terabyte of storage.

While a OneDrive app for iOS has also been released it only allows users to access the business accounts for now. A spokeswoman for the company told PCWorld that Microsoft will be bringing the same unified experience to both iOS and Windows in the coming months. A PIN code can be set up on the Android app and OneDrive files can also be accessed through other applications.

OneDrive on iOS receives a new native search box and a new AllPhotos view. On Windows Phone 8.1 the app gets access to the recycle bin. The app is available now as a free download through Google Play and iTunes App Store as well as the Windows Phone Market.

Assassin’s Creed Unity Release Delayed

assassins creed unity

A lot of great titles will be released this October but unfortunately Assassin’s Creed Unity is not going to be one of them. Ubisoft confirmed today that the release of this title has been delayed by two weeks. The title will now be released alongside Assassin’s Creed Rouge which is only meant for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

Ubisoft has already said multiple times in the past that they have built this new Assassin’s Creed from the ground up. However in the final push to ship the game on its intended release days, lots of subtle details have added up to create hurdles and pitfalls that need to be addressed before the game can be shipped.

Vincent Pontbriand, senior product of Assassin’s Creed Unity, says that because this is a fully next-gen game, “it requires a lot of work, a lot of production, and a lot of learning.” He says that while Ubisoft might be close to the finish line, it “not quite there yet.”

The delay in this title’s release is to ensure that players get the user experience they expect from a AC title that has been developed from the ground up with particular focus on next-gen consoles.

Assassin’s Creed Unity will now be released in the U.S. on November 11th, and in EMEA regions on November 13th.

Doctor Loo: This TARDIS is a Bathroom

This TARDIS toilet installed by Warmley Waiting Room is an awesome lavatory. Take a magazine with you, just in case you expect to face a real Trial of a Time Lord. True fans will get that one. How did a Police box that is really a time machine, that is really a bathroom, end up by a cafe? Read on.

tardis loomagnify

The Bristol, UK cafe purchased a replica TARDIS because… it’s mandatory. If you get the opportunity, you buy one. So then they figured why not make it into something cool. So obviously they made it into a bathroom. Why wouldn’t you?

The inside has Victorian decor, and the light on the top is rigged to a motion sensor so that you know when it is in use. They even have a doorbell installed in the cafe that makes the whooshing TARDIS noise. The noise goes off when people are getting their photo taken with the TARDIS. Not when it flushes, which I think is a real missed opportunity. If you are in the area, stop inside, take a moment to regenerate… sit down and drop off some companions.

Best bathroom ever.

The Promise And Perils Of 3D Printer Popularity

3d-fatigue I’ve stopped writing about a few things recently, mostly because of fatigue. First, I’m not that interested in merchants accepting bitcoin – these little blips are primarily PR moves and little else and I just don’t get as wound up about mass adoption of BTC as the true believers. I’m also not interested in covering crowdfunded 3D printers. Same problem: fatigue… Read More

A Simple Trick to Protect Your PIN From Thieves With Thermal Cameras

Thermal cameras were once expensive and bulky hunks of equipment that very few people could get their hands on. No longer. With FLIR’s new iPhone case thermal imaging cameras are now both affordable and incredibly discreet, which means that evil-doers can use it to see the thermal signature your fingers leave on a keypad and steal your ATM PIN. Here’s a very simple way to thwart that.

How An App Helped Me (And 20,000 Other Women) Get Pregnant

How An App Helped Me (And 20,000 Other Women) Get Pregnant

Last summer I sat in the bathroom of an Irish pub, trying desperately to solve a math equation. I had abandoned my friends at the bar, where I’d been pretending to drink an IPA, to tend to this pressing arithmetic in private. If I solved correctly for ‘x,’ the answer would provide me with some crucial information—whether or not my pregnancy was going well.
