Yesterday, ASUS teased some sketches of their new smartwatch. At the time, all we had were those designer renders to go from in examining their entry into the wearables market. So far, there has been a fair amount of rumors going back and forth concerning the Nexus X as well as the Moto S, where it does look as though that the two are actually the same device, with some minor differences here and there in terms of both software and hardware. Apparently, there were were a couple of Moto S devices in testing which might also translate to the possibility of having two Nexus smartphones roll out under Google later this year.
Needless to say, all of these are just rumors, so one ought to take it with a pinch of salt and wait until there is an official announcement to be able to know whether the rumors will be vindicated or squashed. Apparently, there will be a 5.9” Moto S as well as a 5.2” Moto S that are both in testing, and depending on the model that will finally see the light of day, that would have to fall back on the masses’ response to the upcoming Moto X+1.
Who knows? Google could actually see some potential in the smaller 5.2” Moto S device as another Nexus smartphone, which would not be too odd after taking into consideration that Apple themselves will be rolling out a couple of iPhones in the very near future.

Pandora Released For Google Glass
Posted in: Today's ChiliEven though most major companies have released smartwatches as their wearable devices, Google has taken a completely different route. Google Glass is the company’s wearable device which has been around for over a year now. Only recently it became available for purchase to the public, previously an invite was required. Countless software updates and apps have been released for the device since it was launched, today it gets Pandora, a popular music streaming service.
Pandora is also widely used for its internet radio stations, users also have the ability to create their own stations, so there’s never a shortage of music choice when it comes to Pandora. According to the company’s head of business development, Ian Geller, the app has been released to gauge how well internet radio services and wearable devices work together.
Glass users will be able to pick stations through voice commands and even create a new one. The touchpad can be used to pause, stop and skip tracks.
The app came into being as a result of an internal hackathon project at Pandora. It can play music through the single earbud that’s included with every Glass unit, through a double-earbud accessory which can be purchased separately or using the built-in speaker as well as bone conduction.

Time Warner Cable Outage Resolved
Posted in: Today's ChiliIt looks like the outage experienced by Time Warner Cable earlier this morning has been resolved, and the world (or rather, folks over in the U.S.) will be able to resume their connected lives without feeling as though a part of them is ‘dead’ because they have lost their connection to the virtual world. It must be noted that the Internet outage has impacted over 11 million customers at Time Warner Cable, going to show just how reliant the economy is on a dependable broadband network.
In fact, Time Warner Cable saw more than 10,000 problem reports filed in a matter of just a few hours across cities such as Los Angeles; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Buffalo, New York. Close to 94% of the reported problems were actually related to Internet service. At least the service has since been restored, as Time Warner Cable tweeted, “TWC apologizes for Net outage that occurred early AM. We restored services at 6AM ET & customers can contact @TWC_Help anytime as needed.”
It must be noted that some users claimed otherwise on Twitter, saying that their services were restored only closer to 8am ET. If you were a Time Warner Cable subscriber or customer, how has this outage affected your day, and did it get restored in time for you to be productive?

We have been noticing a trend recently. Retailers and carriers have been slashing prices of the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. This doesn’t come as a surprise because we often see this happening whenever new iPhones are on the horizon. T-Mobile has now joined that list. It has reduced prices of unlocked iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C units sold through its website and retail stores.
The 16GB iPhone 5S previously cost $648 on T-Mobile, now it is available for $600. Similar reduction has been made in the 32GB and 64GB model prices, which are now being sold for $700 and $800 respectively. Since T-Mobile has shunned conventional contracts, these smartphones are sold off-contract.
Its not the high-end iPhone that gets all the love. T-Mobile has also reduced prices of iPhone 5C models. The 16GB model was previously sold for $550, it is now available for $500. The 32GB model gets a $48 price cut and is now available for $600.
The carrier has not confirmed whether this price cut is only valid for a certain time period or if its permanent. T-Mobile’s website calls it a “sale.” Its likely that this promotion has been run to reduce stock of Apple’s existing iPhones. The company is expected to introduce the iPhone 6 early next month. T-Mobile would certainly want to sell as many units of existing models as it can before rush for the new iPhone begins.

Even though Apple fans might be waiting for the next generation iPhones, they would certainly be interested in any news about the company’s next tablets. If the rumors are correct Apple will be unveiling its new tablets come October. We have already seen numerous parts and component leaks which are said to belong to the iPad Air 2. Today another such part has appeared online, it is claimed to be the rear shell of this tablet.
On the face of it the image doesn’t reveal anything groundbreaking. The iPad Air 2′s design seems to be similar to its predecessor, which adopted a lot of design cues from the iPad Mini.
The accompanying report claims that this image reveals the rear microphone will be moved from the center of the upper part to be placed alongside the image sensor. Volume control buttons may even be placed inside a cavity.
As far as the size is concerned it appears that this particular shell belongs to Apple’s next 9.7-inch tablet. A report from a reputable source yesterday claimed that the company is also preparing a 12.9-inch iPad which will presumably be released either by the end of 2014 by in the first quarter of next year.
Such leaks are a dime a dozen whenever new Apple products are on a horizon. Even if they do look like the real deal, they should always be taken with a grain of salt, since the company never comments on them so there’s no verification of claims made by sources.

We all know that Apple fans are anxiously waiting for the day when the company is finally going to unveil a wearable device. Many of its rivals are already leagues ahead with their smartwatches and while Apple has said that it plans on entering new product categories, it hasn’t confirmed if a smartwatch is going to be its first wearable device. A report published today claims that Apple’s wearable device is going to be announced next month alongside the two new iPhone 6 models.
Earlier this year a senior executive at Apple said that this year the company has its best product pipeline. As per rumors these include new MacBooks, iPhones with significantly larger displays as well as a wearable device which many know as the iWatch.
Re/code doesn’t say if Apple’s wearable device is indeed a smartwatch, but does claim that it will utilize Apple’s HealthKit and HomeKit frameworks for collecting health data and controlling connected objects, respectively. So if its a smartwatch, not only will it be able to collect health and fitness related data, users will also be able to control smart objects in their home straight from their wrist.
Previously this scribe reported that the wearable device will be released this October. It still doesn’t count out the possibility of a change before September 9th so nothing is set in stone. For all new know next month Apple might only unveil the new iPhone 6 models.
