The Greatest American Hero Reboot in the Works: Believe it or Not!

As a child of the ’80s, one of the earliest TV shows that I recall loving in grade school was called “The Greatest American Hero.” This was a comedy/action show about a teacher who saw an alien spacecraft and found a suit that gave him superhuman powers. The catch was that he lost the instructions and didn’t know how it worked. I loved that show something fierce growing up, and word is that FOX is getting set to reboot it.

Now before you get all upset about the idea, The reboot is expected to have Phil Lord and Chris Miller as executive producers. If those names are unfamiliar, you might recognize the films directed together- 21 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and The LEGO Movie. So they have a really solid track record. It sounds like the show will be written by Rodney Rothman, who worked with Lord and Miller on 22 Jump Street.

The original series was produced by Steven J. Cannell, and apparently his daughter Tawnia McKiernan is going to be working on the reboot. The only description of the show we have now is that it will follow an inner city teacher who discovers a suit that gives him superhuman powers. Basically, this is the same premise from the original. I’m totally going to watch.

I wonder who they’re going to cast as the hero.

Engineer Makes 3D-Printed Key To Open Any Lock

3D Printed bump key to open any lockSome German engineers have revealed designs for 3D printing a “bump key” that they say can be used to break into common tumbler style locks. According to the engineers, using nothing but a photo of the lock and some software called Photobump, a working key can be created.

Bump keys are not anything really new, but the ability to produce a lock-specific bump key through 3D printing from a picture of a lock, well that’s pretty new. A bump key basically uses some force and some jarring of the lock to move the small pins in the tumbler into the correct position so that the lock will turn.

Rumored Sony QX1 E-Mount Lens

Sony ILCE-QX1 E-Mount LensThe Xperia Blog has leaked some photos, including the one above, of the rumored Sony ILCE-QX1 E-mount camera lens system. The QX1′s intention is to turn give your smartphone the ability to take DLSR quality digital photos.

The idea with this lens system from Sony is to basically create a very portable, professional type lens with all of the picture-taking features packed inside. They then give it the ability to mount onto your smart device and communicate with it wirelessly through Wi-Fi. The QX1 will pretty much work by itself to take pictures, but the phone acts as a viewfinder and a way to review the photos.

No pricing or release date yet, but rumors include a built-in memory card and interchangeable lenses that will likely not come cheap.
