Today’s Amazon deal of the day features over 1,000 discounted Kindle books that are meant to help students, but anyone who wants to pick up some new skills should take a look at the selection.
“She was part-good before—SHE’S ALL BAD NOW!” “From the moment they met it was Murder!” “Blood-red kisses! White-hot thrills!” No other style of cinema mastered sensational taglines better than film noir, and posters from the genre’s mid-century heyday are a goddamn dark delight.
A portable charger can save your butt on days when your smartphone never seems to leave your hand—but only if you remember to bring it with you. So not only has Elgato packed 6,000 mAh into its new Smart Power battery, but Bluetooth and an accompanying iOS app as well, so that it can peek at your iPhone’s calendar and automatically remind you to pack it on long, busy days.
A decade ago, you’d assume that the idiot on the highway in front of you weaving back and forth across the yellow lines was drunk. Today, there’s a pretty good chance that they’re just trying to navigate some particularly complicated emoji. GM wants to stop the madness, and it’s betting on eye-tracking to do so.
That camera breakdown above is reportedly Sony’s new ILCE-QX1 lens camera system. Originally leaked by the Xperia Blog, this lens is the next evolution in Sony’s determination to transform your smartphone lens into a more professional grade shooter.

Sonos has made a name for itself as a wireless home audio system. The problem is — up until today — that you still needed to plug something into the router (one of your speakers, or a “Bridge” device). What’s new today? Sonos has come good on its…
Uber banned across Germany

Unleash a tornado on your puny SimCities, because they’re nothing compared to YouTuber Peter Ritchie’s SimCity 4 region. Supposedly made without cheats or mods, Peter’s region is made of 81 large city tiles and has 107,658,254 Sims. And they’re all probably stuck in traffic.
The united cities of Peter also have 16,492mi of paved roads, 5,360mi of subway lines and produce 6,000,000MW of electricity. According to Motherboard, Peter “spent a couple of months planning things out before beginning construction in March”, and finally completed it last August. But all is not well with Peter’s otherwise flourishing land. Speaking with Motherboard, Peter said that traffic congestion is one of his region’s biggest problems: “The massive amount of subway lines and subway stations are still congested during all times of the day in all neighborhoods of each and every mega-city in the region. The roadways are clogged at all times, but people still persist in trying to use them.”
In response to the inevitable “get a life” troll comment, Peter had this to say: “This is what I would play for 30 minutes to an hour at night after the wife/kid went to sleep. Or on rainy days. I would say I game less than most people, but when I do, I do it right.” And by right he means making hundreds of millions of virtual people suffer, so yeah, uhm, burn!

The QX10 and QX100, for those unfamiliar… Read More
