Surface Pro 3 Sells Well In The UK

microsoft surface pro 3 42 640x426The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 has certainly gone through quite a bit of adventure on the news front recently, especially when one takes into consideration the alleged overheating issues that Microsoft has already promised a fix for it. Still, the business class tablet has been released in another 25 more markets recently, and word has it that the Surface Pro 3 is doing pretty well for itself over in the U.K.

In fact, it does look as though just about every store location in the United Kingdom has run out of their current Surface Pro 3 stock. Is this due to extremely high demand, or basically there is very little stock sent out in the first place by the folks over at Microsoft to test out the new markets?

It seems like stores such as Currys and Argos are more or less sold out of every single configuration of the Surface Pro 3 imaginable, and perhaps Currys’ move of putting up a £100 discount when it comes to laptops and similar devices made the Surface Pro 3 all the more appealing. Hopefully Microsoft will move swift enough to solve this problem, which is a good problem to have in the first place. Are you willing to give the Surface Pro 3 a go yourself?

Gionee Elife S5.1 Be Thinnest Smartphone When It Arrives

gionee 5mm thin 640x448When it comes to the world of smartphones, these particular devices too, would want to be thinner and thinner – after all, it follows the general trend where consumer electronics are concerned. Gionee of China already holds the distinction of having the world’s thinnest production smartphone in the form of the Gionee Elife S5.5, and this time around, it looks set to wow the masses with their upcoming device that will be even thinner than the 5.5mm slim predecessor mentioned earlier – thanks to the introduction of the Gionee Elife S5.1.

Touted to roll out in China later this month, the Gionee Elife S5.1 already carries a “coming soon” listing on a retail website that shows just how impossibly thin the handset will be at 5.15mm, running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. We do wonder how come it does not have Android 4.4 KitKat in tow, as that does seem to be the norm when it comes to modern day devices.

The Gionee Elife S5.1 is more or less as thin as a regular pencil, and it will feature a 4.8” display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor underneath the hood which will be accompanied by a 2,100mAh battery and 1GB RAM. No idea on pricing details, but I’d dread putting this in the back of my jean’s pocket.

HTC Y5 Is A Mid-Range Phablet (Rumor)

HTC and tablets do not really make for a good marriage as what had transpired in the past did not prove inspirational for the Taiwanese company, although they look set to strain ahead and move forward with the rumored Nexus 9 from Google, where HTC is touted to be the hardware manufacturer for this device. Well, how about phablets? HTC has had better luck in this particular department, and in the latest rumor that hails from the serial leakster over at @upleaks, it would be the HTC Y5 that would come under scrutiny this time around.

The HTC Y5 is said to be a mid-range phablet that will be powered by the YellowStone mobile operating system, and it is headed towards the CMCC. As for its hardware specifications, it does look as though the HTC Y5 will be close to the HTC Desire 816.

Just to refresh our memories on what the HTC Desire 816 offers and to get a better idea on what the HTC Y5 might bring with it in the end, we are most probably looking at a 5.5″ display at 720p resolution, 8GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, a Snapdragon 400 chipset, a 13MP shooter at the back with a 5MP shooter in front, and perhaps even a BoomSound loudspeaker. Are you stoked yet?

Cortana Does Worldwide Time And Currency Conversions

cortana conversionWindows Phone’s Cortana is slowly but surely growing in stature, as the users start to discover all of the little details that this digital personal assistant is capable of. In fact, some of the features have been a so-called staple on Siri and Google Now, but this does not mean that Cortana users will have to lag behind. No sir, with Cortana, you too, are able to get a grasp of the worldwide time, and this feature comes in especially handy if you are about to make a long distance call across different time zones, but have not quite mastered the nuances of addition and subtraction just yet.

Apart from being able to tell the different time zones in the world, Cortana is also able to handle currency conversion – pretty useful if you are in a spot and need to find out just how much something overseas cost before you perform a conversion yourself here. Both of these features are old hat to Siri and Google Now, but for Cortana users, it is always nice to know that at least this digital personal assistant is on par with its far more famous mobile operating system rivals.

What are the other things about Cortana that you love over Siri and Google Now?

Alcatel OneTouch Flash To Go Up Against Galaxy Note

Samsung’s Galaxy Note series of phablets have proven themselves to be exceedingly popular over the years, and for good reason, too – the larger-than-normal display when it first hit the market which opened up a whole new world of visual treats to the masses, not to mention making the phablet category of devices more acceptable. Does it have competitors in this segment? Sure, and the latest model would be the Alcatel OneTouch Flash, also known by its model number 6042D. This particular handset was promoted to go up against the Samsung Galaxy Note as you can see in the rather cute video above.

The Alcatel OneTouch Flash comes across as a device that has been personified as an Android robot, where it goes up against a “Note” that obviously looks as though it is up to no good. Needless to say, the OneTouch Flash saves the day in the end, prevailing after their fight, thanks to its features. Of course, Alcatel has put up the OneTouch Flash against the Galaxy Note 3 Neo instead of the flagship Galaxy Note 3 – so do not be misled into thinking otherwise.

As for the hardware specifications of the Alcatel OneTouch Flash, it will run on Android 4.4 KitKat, has a 5.5” IPS display at 720 x 1280 pixels resolution, an octa-core 1.4GHz MediaTek processor, 1GB RAM, and 8GB of internal memory, alongside a 13MP camera that is located on the back, and a front-facing 5MP shooter.

Drone Checks Out Upcoming Apple Campus

Early last month, we brought you word on new Apple Campus 2 photos that depicted some concrete foundation work that went on, and this time around, there is something far more interesting that you might want to take note of – a drone which has been outfitted with a camera managed to take to the skies to capture a drone’s eye view of the upcoming Apple Campus.

Of course, there is a sense of excitement about it, as I am quite sure that many of us would be able to remember how when Apple first introduced plans for their upcoming new campus, most folks did say something about it being a “mothership” of sorts, or something in that vein. This particular project has been going on for quite some time already, and progress has been made – although it is still one year behind the original schedule, not to mention seeing its costs balloon by more than a couple of billion. Still, that is chump change to Apple considering the value of the company today.

Twitter user @jmcminn hooked up a GoPro camera to his DJI Phantom 2 drone before navigating it over the new Apple Campus’ construction site, and there is just an overwhelming sense of awe when one takes into consideration the overall size of Apple’s upcoming campus. Hopefully it will be on track to meet the 2016 opening date.

nexus 9 keyboard folio leakWe did talk about how there are more Nexus 9 details leaked over the weekend, where this particular device would be manufactured by the folks over at HTC. The magnets also double up in functionality to lock and unlock the tablet, which is reminiscent of Apple’s Smart Cover.

Expect it to rely on NFC to connect to the tablet, where it will run off a 450mAh battery that remains onboard the case itself. The leather version will arrive in Natural and Black shades, while the TPU version is tipped to come in Coral Amethyst, Mint Indigo, Lime Stone and Indigo Black.
