Thailand Built an Electronic Tongue to Police Thai Food Worldwide

The government of Thailand does not approve of your town’s crappy Thai restaurant. In fact, it’s so upset about the global scourge of tasteless Tom Yum soup and dank drunken noodles that’s spending $1 million to combat it. Stella Solar Powered Vehicle Can Seat Four

stella carMost of the time, when it comes to solar powered cars, those are not exactly the kind of rides that you would want to take across the country as you can never quite tell just when you are going to run out of juice, especially when you have driven straight into an area where the sun has been blotted out by the clouds. Not only that, solar powered rides normally do not have the kind of power to pull you along, but here we are with Stella, deemed to be the first ever family sized road vehicle which will be solar powered.

In fact, Stella recently managed to occupy the top spot on the podium where the World Solar Challenge is concerned, and also picked up the Michelin Cruiser Class as it successfully completed a 3,000 kilometer journey all the way from Darwin to Adelaide in Australia in the previous fall.

What makes Stella all the more interesting is the fact that this particular ride was specially developed for road travel, as there is a large solar panel which sits atop the roof, allowing it to power the vehicle for up to 500 miles on a single charge. Not only that, it is capable of seating four at once, which goes to show just how powerful the ride can be just by harnessing the power of the sun via its solar panels.

Robots Could Help Taste Food In The Future

robot thai foodNot too long ago, we brought you word on how nanoscience could help to the development of a robot that can taste wine better than the trained and expert human tongue. However, what about food – can the same standards and solutions be applied? The Thailand government is set to reveal their project that will standardize the art of Thai food with the assistance from a robot, now how about that? This particular robot is said to be able to scientifically evaluate Thai cuisine, enabling it to figure out the differences and nuances in a pot of green curry, making sure that it comes with the correct mix of Thai basil, curry paste and fresh coconut cream.

This particular robot will not exhibit all that much movement, simply because there is no need to be agile, but what this boxy contraption carries would be a slew of sensors alongside microchips. Known as the e-delicious machine, it will be able to scan through various food samples in order to come up with a chemical signature, where in turn it will perform a measurement against a standard that is touted to be the real deal.

The Thai Delicious Committee, which is financed by the government, has overlooked the e-delicious machine’s development, having described it to be as “an intelligent robot that measures smell and taste in food ingredients through sensor technology in order to measure taste like a food critic.” Will future Thai restaurants that want to draw in customers feature an e-delicious robot stamp of approval?

Microsoft Lumia 830 To Launch In China This October 13

lumia830 chinaWhile we did bring you news that Microsoft has released its Xbox One console over in China earlier this morning, and that is not the only thing or device that Microsoft has up their sleeves for the China market. Apparently, they are also lining up the Nokia Lumia 830 for a release this coming October 13th. Touted by Microsoft to be the first ‘affordable flagship’ smartphone, it will retail for 2,399 CNY (which is converted to $390 thereabouts), arriving in all four color options, namely black, white, orange and green as it becomes available in that part of the world that has no Instagram access.

A little bit of background information for those who are interested in the Lumia 830 – this smartphone happened to be unveiled earlier this month with the Nokia Lumia 730 and 735 ‘selfie phones’, and it will arrive with the most recent Lumia Denim firmware, featuring support for the localized Chinese version of Cortana.

Some of the hardware specifications include a 5” HD (1280x720px) ClearBlack IPS LCD display with Gorilla Glass 3, a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purpose, a 10MP PureView camera with ZEISS optics and LED flash, a 0.9MP wide-angle front-facing camera, and NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. I am curious to know how it will do against the likes of Xiaomi and Oppo.

Sony Xperia Z3 And Xperia Z3 Compact Rooted

z3 z3 compact rootedIf you happen to own either one of these smartphones from Sony – the Xperia Z3 or the Xperia Z3 Compact, then you might be pleased to hear that developer DooMLoRD ought to be the one to thank when you root your respective smartphones. Not only that, the Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact will now allow you to enjoy custom recovery that ought to cater for all your flashing needs.

In order to enjoy what DoomLoRD has in store, you would need a model of either one of the two mentioned handsets that come with an unlocked bootloader (stock firmware or ROMs that are based on it), before you perform a flash of a custom kernel. When done, you can then access ClockWorkMod custom recovery (v6.0.4.7). It is from there that you can make the decision as to whether you would like to see the Xperia Z3 or the Xperia Z3 Compact rooted, as you download SuperSU and have it saved onto an SD card while flashing it via CWM.

It is recommended that one downloads BusyBox immediately after the rooting process, before performing an installation in /system/xbin. The list of known issues happen to be rather short at the moment though, which is a good thing – and one that DooMLoRD will fix in due time.
