Narwhal Heated Slippers look way too cute

narwhal-heated-slippersAh, for those of us who happen to live in the northern hemisphere, we do know that we should start making preparations for winter as that season will soon be upon us in due time. You might want to wrap yourself up with layer upon layer of warm clothes in order to make sure that you do not end up with a chill, but how about ditching all those three pairs of socks that cover your feet by walking around the home in the £24.99 Narwhal Heated Slippers? These are far cuter than other heated footwear that we have seen in the past.

After all, narwhals are well known for being able to swim about right at home in freezing temperatures, thanks to their layer of blubber that keep them warm. Sure, this is not made up of actual narwhal skin and blubber, but rather, it offers a soft and luxurious plush feel, complete with non-slip soles. The Narwhal Heated Slippers will be powered via a USB connection, allowing your toes to remain warm and toasty even when it is freezing on the outside. The detachable USB cords that come with each pair of the Narwhal Heated Slippers will measure 144cm in length, allowing you to stretch your legs.

Notion Tells You What’s Going on at Home from Afar

If you are away from home a lot and want to keep an eye on your house, you might get a security alarm installed. The problem with those alarms is all they do is alarm when a window breaks or a door opens, they are far from smart. A new product has hit Kickstarter called Notion that makes homes intelligent.

This isn’t a system that turns on lights and such, it simply alerts you to conditions using seven different sensors inside each stick-on Notion puck. Each device has an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, temperature sensor, piezoelectric transducer, proximity sensor, and water leak probes. Data collected by the pucks is sent to a Notion base station, which connects to your Wi-Fi network.

What’s that mean for you? You can tell when a door opens using the accelerometer and proximity sensors. That will let you know a child comes home. The temperature sensor will help you keep an eye on energy use from afar. The water leak probes can alert you if a leak develops. If you like to grill out, the piezoelectric transducer will measure how much propane you have left in the tank.

Notion was seeking $50,000 to fund its project, and has already raised more than six times that amount. A pledge of $129(USD) or more will get you the hub and a single sensor. Packages are available with 3, 5 or 10 sensors as well.
