Razer Nabu Will Be Making Its Way To China

razer nabu 640x359Earlier this year at CES 2014, Razer announced their first wearable which comes in the form of the Razer Nabu. The Nabu is not a smartwatch and appears to be more of a band, and perhaps to capitalize on China’s growing economy and the demand for wearables, Razer has recently announced that they will be bringing the Nabu over to China.

This will be a collaborative effort between Razer and a handful of companies, such as Tencent, Tencent Games, JD.com, Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, and FISE World. The Razer Nabu is expected to be made available in Q4 2014 this year, so if you’ve had your eye on the device, you can expect to get your hands on one later this year.

For those unfamiliar with the Nabu because you missed its announcement earlier this year, it is a smart band that can be worn around your wrist. It comes with a small display that will be able to show users information such as emails, calls, text messages, and notifications in general.

The Nabu for China is expected to come integrated with a couple of apps, such as WeChat where users can exchange contact information with another person wearing a Nabu just by “high fiving” them. Another app would be the Timi Run Everyday app, which is basically a fitness app that converts the amount of steps walked, calories burnt, and etc., into in-game rewards.

Pricing of the Razer Nabu has yet to be determined but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.

McDonald’s Could Be Getting Ready For NFC Enabled Mobile Payments

mcds nfcThere are a few ways that one can pay for their meals at McDonald’s. You can either pay by cash, or depending on which country you are in, you can pay using a debit/credit card just by tapping the terminal. That being said, it seems that in the future you could possibly use your mobile phone to make your payments at the fast food outlet.

This is according to an internal memo (pictured above) which shows that McDonald’s is getting ready to start training their staff on the new system, which as you can see in the image above will take advantage of NFC to facilitate these payments. The system is expected to roll out on the 15th of September which is why staff members are expected to be trained on it before then.

This seems to be in line with an earlier rumor this year from Business Insider. The report claimed that McDonald’s was getting ready to launch a new mobile app that would allow customers to place an order via their phones or tablets, and be able to pick up their order when they arrive at the store, and possibly make payments using their mobile devices as well.

It is unclear if the roll out of the new NFC system will be part of that, but we guess we will just have to wait and see. It also does not seem like this move by McDonald’s has anything to do with the iPhone 6 and the rumors that it will sport NFC technology that will facilitate Apple’s plans for a mobile payment service.

HTC Doubles Google Drive Storage For Some Customers

htc one review m8 labshot 04 640x359If you’ve bought one of HTC’s newer phones, you might be pleased to learn that HTC has recently announced that they will be doubling the cloud storage that is provided to their customers who might have bought some of their devices. Prior to this, HTC and Google had teamed up to provide cloud storage as part of the “HTC Advantage” program.

Back then only 50GB was provided, which is actually a lot if you’re just using it to store photos and documents, but the good news is that the number has since doubled to 100GB. Unfortunately not all of HTC’s devices will receive the upgrade. Instead those who are eligible for the upgrade includes owners of the HTC One M8, HTC One Max, HTC One Remix, HTC Desire 816, and the HTC Desire 610.

This offer is not permanent, however. It will last you a good two years, after which if you wish to continue using that amount of storage you will have to start paying Google for it. However if you think that it is worth the money, then the free two-years would be a boon. In order to collect on the offer, all you’d have to do is launch the Google Drive app on your phone and redeem the offer when it pops up.

New Motorola Droid Phones Could Be Headed For Verizon

droid vzw 640x304Motorola and Verizon have a special relationship in which Motorola would release devices exclusive to Verizon under the Droid branding. Now the DroidLanding Twitter account has been inactive for a while now, although a recent post has some speculating that we could be in for an announcement in the near future.

The most recent Motorola handset to grace Verizon would be the Motorola Luge, which is basically a rebranded Motorola Droid RAZR M so we guess technically it’s not exactly a new phone. There are rumors that the Moto X+1 could be making its way onto Verizon but unless Verizon rebrands the phone, there is a chance that this might not be the Droid we are looking for.

What this means is that there is a good chance that Motorola and Verizon could have new Droid handsets in the works that they have yet to announcement. Either way this all just speculation for now, but if you were a fan of Motorola’s Droid lineup on Verizon, then perhaps you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for more info, or just check back with us at a later date for the details.

In the meantime is anyone else excited to see potentially new Motorola Droid phones make their way back onto Verizon’s network?
