Mid-Range LG F60 With 4G LTE Announced

lg f60 640x440While most high-end smartphones these days tend to support 4G LTE connectivity by default, the same cannot be said for low-mid range handsets. Well if you’re in the market for an affordable smartphone, LG has you covered. The Korean company has recently announced the LG F60, which judging from its specs will not be breaking the bank.

The handset will sport a 4.5-inch WVGA display and will be powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor. However the selling point here would be 4G LTE connectivity, so like we said if you’re after an affordable phone that will allow you to surf and download at fast speeds, then the LG F60 could be for you.

Other features of the handset include 1GB of RAM and will come with 4GB of storage, and will also sport a 2,100mAh battery. It will come with a 5MP rear-facing camera and a 1.3MP front-facing camera that will borrow some of the LG G3’s features, such as gesture shot that allows users to activate a timer.

The phone will also come with the Knock Code security feature and will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Pricing and availability remain unknown at this point in time, but presumably it will differ from market to market.

Online Music Videos In The UK To Trial Age Rating System

miley 640x369While it is inevitable that kids will someday stumble across an inappropriate music video or song, we guess parents will probably want to do everything they can to prevent that. Well it seems that over in the UK, parents will be getting their wish. According to a report from the BBC, come this Friday a trial will begin.

This trial will basically be a ratings system for online music video where certain videos will be closed off to certain age groups due to the content involved which might be deemed inappropriate. The results of the trial are expected to be announced at the end of the year and in the meantime, popular websites and services like YouTube and Vevo have agreed to take part in the trial.

Record labels such as Sony, Universal, and Warner Brothers are also expected to participate in the trial, so artists and bands under these labels will be affected, however as we mentioned this will only apply to the UK for now, but we guess if it is successful we don’t see why it won’t be brought to other markets.

This is a great idea but at the same time, it could encourage artists to be more outrageous. According to musician Ella On The Run, “I think giving an age rating might actually get people to make even more provocative videos than before as long as they get the proper rating for it.” So parents, what do you guys think?

LG Files For G Flex Frame, G Frame, F Frame Trademarks

lg g flex 06 640x427Trademark and patent filings are usually a good sign of what a company might have planned. Of course whether these filings actually materialize into an actual product is a different story, but it does get people talking. That being said, LG has recently filed for three product names via the USPTO.

The names in question are the LG G Flex Frame, the G Frame, and the F Frame. Unfortunately these names do not tell us what kind of products we might be able to expect, although the G Flex Frame does sound like LG’s curved display smartphone, the LG G Flex, so it is possible that the G Flex Frame could be its successor or some kind of variant.

We have heard the rumors that LG could be planning the LG G Flex 2 which is said to sport a smaller display, so it is possible that the G Flex Frame could be referring to that device. However apart from that, we can’t be sure as to what the G Frame or the F Frame are. They do sport the same “Frame” moniker across the board, so perhaps it could be a new family of smartphones.

In any case like we said, trademark and patent filings are a possible indicator of what’s to come, but it does not necessarily reflect what is actually coming, but we will keep our eyes peeled anyway. In the meantime anyone care to venture a guess as to what these phones could be?

Well the good news for those who are active on social media but want to share responsibly, Google has recently updated their Google+ social network and will now be able to let users choose the location and age of the people that can see their posts.

Now given that you have to enter your age and location when you sign up for Google+, the new feature will you choose the demographic you want to appeal to. For example if you want to share an article or a video that might be questionable, you can choose to allow those aged 18 or over, or 21 or over, to view it.

As you can see in the screenshot above, it can also allow you to select a filter to say that the content could be alcohol-related, thus not allowing those below a certain age to view the content that you are sharing. Jon Stewart Gives 'Schoolhouse Rock' A Modern Makeover On 'The Daily Show'

An entire generation learned how a bill becomes a law thanks to “Schoolhouse Rock,” but the old “I’m Just a Bill” video doesn’t fully capture how lawmaking works today.

So on Tuesday night’s “Daily Show,” Jon Stewart used the current inaction in Congress as the inspiration for a new version of the classic tune.

The new rendition is called “How a Bill Becomes an Ad,” and it perfectly captures how absolutely nothing ever gets done in Washington.

Japan Volcano: Death Toll From Mount Ontake Eruption Climbs To 48

OTAKI, Japan (AP) — A dozen more bodies were found Wednesday near the ash-covered summit of a Japanese volcano as searches resumed amid concern of toxic gasses and another eruption.

The death toll from last Saturday’s surprise eruption at Mount Ontake stands at 48 after Wednesday’s additions, Nagano prefectural police said. Prefectural and police officials said most bodies were found around the summit, where many climbers were resting or having lunch.

The Ground Self-Defense Forces helicopters brought more than a dozen bodies to the foot of the mountain Wednesday.

Relatives and friends of those who are feared missing in the mountain waited for news in a municipal hall in a nearby town of Kiso.

Medical experts who have examined some of the nearly 70 injured told Japanese media many of them had bruises, cuts and bone fractures on the back, an apparent sign they were hit by rocks flying out of the volcano. Some of them were badly coated with ash and had to be carefully washed to reach the skin surface.

The eruption caught hikers by surprise. Seismologists had detected signs of increased seismic activity at Mount Ontake, one of Japan’s 110 active volcanos, but nothing signaled a fatal eruption.

Nearly 1,000 Chickens Killed With A Golf Club At Foster Farms Plant In California

Someone recently broke into a California poultry plant and bashed nearly 1,000 chickens to death with a golf club, according to police.

At least one intruder broke into the chicken sheds at a Foster Farms facility in Caruthers, near Fresno, on the morning of Sept. 20, clubbing 920 birds to death and then leaving, according to the Fresno Country Sheriff’s Office.

A piece of a golf club was found at the scene, and police told local media they believe another weapon was also used.

“In law enforcement we see bad things all the time, but this is beyond comprehension, that people could take so much time to do this,” Deputy Chris Curtice of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department told Fox station KMPH. “This is sick. Whoever did this is a sick individual. This is psychopathic behavior.”

It’s crazy that someone would break into the chicken shed to kill them. It’s just crazy,” Foster Farms employee Antonio Puentes told local CBS station KPIX.

Foster Farms has been in the headlines in recent months due to numerous recalls linked to outbreaks of listeria and salmonella, and has faced accusations of unsanitary conditions at its plants.

After the attack at the Caruthers plant, the company issued a statement calling the killings an “unconscionable act of animal cruelty.”

This appears to be a random act of violence. It is the express policy of Foster Farms to treat its birds humanely and with compassion. Any intentional act to the contrary is unacceptable,” the statement said, according to Yourcentralvalley.com.

The company estimates the damage from the chicken attack at $5,000, and is offering a reward of the same amount for information leading to the perpetrator or perpetrators. Anyone with tips can contact the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department, or call the Ag Task Force detectives at (559) 600-8150.

“You can’t do that much damage to animals and not have blood on your clothing. We want to find out who they are and get them off the street,” Curtice told KPIX.
