Atari: Game Over is a documentary that’s part of a gaming series that’ll be coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360 this fall. We’d heard about it before – we’ve even seen photos of the digging up of the E.T. site in the desert. But now we get to see it up close and personal. This documentary will show “the … Continue reading

Facebook is often criticized over privacy concerns, but the social network just made a historic move in the name of security and anonymity. The social network just created a dedicated Tor link that ensures people who visit the site from the anonymous web browser won’t be mistaken for botnets. This is a big deal, mostly because it’s Facebook.
Want to know just how badass folks from the boomer generation were? Just watch this nice lady get jammed in the eyeballs with pieces of glass—all in the name of 20/20 vision. Fair warning: you’re going to want to keep a finger on the close tab button because ewwwwwwwwwww.
I was never a pillowcase kid. Fill the sheets that I put my head on with the goods, risking an errant Mr. Goodbar besmirching my sleeping quarters? No thanks. Besides, a pillowcase would need to go in the wash eventually. My plastic pumpkin was a dedicated trick-or-treating device. And somehow, it managed to stay candy scented year-round.
Love your morning coffee break, but hate having to wait in line amongst the masses? Well, Starbucks will allow you to skip the line entirely with its new app. Just place your order via that trusty smartphone, and you’ll be able to walk in and pick it…
Here’s some trivia for your next trip to the pub. Did you know that, in Virginia, you don’t have to tell the cops your phone’s unlock code, but you’re obliged to open it if you use a fingerprint based passcode? It’s a quirky piece of legal precedent…
Halloween is here, and tonight kids across the country (and more than a few adults) will be out trick-or-treating and partying. One of our favorite things around here each Halloween is looking at the cool pumpkins that people carve up, and we have already seen some cool pumpkins in 2014.
Check out our latest round of pumpkins for Halloween 2014. One of my favorite is the pumpkin with the Oculus Rift on its face and pumpkin guts puked all over the floor. There are also some very complex pumpkins; my favorite is the Predator head. I also really like the Minecraft pumpkin, it’s simple but really, really cool.
I also like the one the dude is holding in the air by the stem, it looks like a severed head. Which of these is your favorite pumpkin?

Remember back when the SyFy channel was the Sci-Fi Channel and they had all those awesome shows on Friday nights? Sci-Fi was the place to watch Stargate: SG1, Farscape, and my favorite, First Wave. There have been some hits from SyFy since it departed from its roots with Battlestar Galactica and some others, but mostly the shows have sucked.
SyFy is now promising to get back to its roots, and some of the new shows coming will definitely have me tuning in. Here’s a quick rundown of the show descriptions:
- Childhood’s End. Mini-series, 6 hours. Stars Charles Dance. Based on Arthur C. Clarke’s sci-fi classic, follows a breed of aliens called the “Overlords,” who manage to peacefully invade and rule Earth, and create a pseudo-utopia that comes at the price of human identity and culture. Premieres 2015.
- The Expanse. Series, 10 episodes. Based on the series of books by James S.A. Corey, a thriller set two hundred years in the future, The Expanse follows the case of a missing young woman who brings a hardened detective and a rogue ship’s captain together in a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history. No date.
- Hunters. Series, 13 episodes. Based on Whitley Strieber’s novel Alien Hunter, a Philadelphia cop searches for his missing wife leads and discovers a secret government unit that assembled to hunt a group of ruthless terrorists who may not be from this world. Premieres 2016.
I hope these shows turn out to be as cool as some of that old content. What do you think? Are you excited for these new shows?
