Pacific Rim Gipsy Danger Action Figure Doesn’t Need Two Players

I have said it before; I was very surprised at how good Pacific Rim was. I think many people were just as impressed, and a second film in the franchise is in the works already. If you are a fan of Pacific Rim, you might want to pick up this 18-inch Gipsy Danger deluxe action figure. It’s not a pristine toy version of the giant robot, this one has battle damage.

It has a light-up head, chest, and Plasmacaster cannon for a hand, and a removable sword on the other. The toy has 14 points of articulation and power for the lights comes from five LR44 batteries.

The action figure has small parts so it’s not for children under three. It’s recommended for kids 14 or older. This will look good on the shelf with your other action figures; you can get one for $99.99(USD) at ThinkGeek now.

The Bruvelo makes coffee just how you like it

Bruvelo Coffee Maker

We seem to talk about coffee a lot, and the reason being is that it’s what keeps us upright and moving forward. There are just so many different ways to brew it and such variation between every cup that it’s easy to get excited about what method you can use next. Of course, with our busy schedules, it’s usually best to use some sort of automatic setup. However, that’s not always going to provide you with the most delicious coffee in the world.

If you want to take the guesswork out of making good coffee without having to use something made of plastic, then the Bruvelo might be an option to look into. If you remember the Arist from the other day, this is quite similar, but takes a different spin. While the Arist is aimed more towards those who have a bit of a sweet tooth, the Bruvelo takes more interest in making the perfect black cup of coffee. It has a coconut shell carbon block water filter that will give you some really tasty (or tasteless I should say) water. This system uses a standard 01 coffee filter, and will pre-rinse it before the brewing process begins.

There is a touchscreen console on the base that will let you choose what drink you’d like, or you can pick through the corresponding smartphone app. After picking your desired strength and temperature, you simply add in your beans until the Bruvelo tells you to stop, and it will grind them to your specifications. This will cost you $350, and has a small amount of daily maintenance. Seeing that the Arist is the same general idea with more customization and at a cheaper price, the Bruvelo may not get past the crowdfunding phase. Should it make it to the market, there’s a good chance it will be cheaper though.

Driveclub PS Plus Edition Release Postponed

driveclub white ps4
Evolution Studios’ Driveclub was supposed to be launched alongside the PlayStation 4 last year as a launch title but its release was delayed by well over a year. A couple of weeks back Driveclub was finally released but it immediately hit some bumps. Server issues frustrated many players who were trying to enjoy the title’s online gaming features, which is something that the developer takes pride in. Because of those issues it has been decided that Driveclub PS Plus edition release will be postponed.

This was announced in a post on the official Driveclub Facebook page by President of World Wide Studios at Sony, Shuhei Yoshida. He apologized that the issues have resulted in players not being able to enjoy everything that Driveclub was supposed to deliver.

Yoshida says that they can not provide an exact time frame right now in which the issues will be resolved, even though additional engineering resources have been deployed to fix the server troubles.

Since the release of Driveclub PS Plus edition will add more load to the servers, which are already incapable of supporting the load as it is, the release is being postponed until further notice.

Yoshida says that their first priority is to provide the best possible experience and they can not currently guarantee that this will be the case if PS Plus edition is released at this stage.

The PS Plus edition was meant as a demo of sorts for PlayStation Plus members which would help them make up their minds about whether or not they wanted to purchase the title. Folks who were holding out on that edition will now have to wait for unspecified amount of time.

T-Mobile May Release Galaxy Note Edge On November 14th

galaxy note edge t mobile 640x323
Last month Samsung unveiled another device alongside the Galaxy Note 4. It was the Galaxy Note Edge which was described by the company as a “limited edition concept device.” So one can understand that it wouldn’t be widely available like the Galaxy Note 4. However it looks like all four major U.S. carriers will offer this device at some point and particularly T-Mobile might release the Galaxy Note Edge on November 14th.

T-Mobile has already put up a pre-registration page for this device up on their website. Pre-registration doesn’t mean pre-order, its basically letting people sign up with their email to receive more information about the device as it becomes available.

The carrier is yet to officially announce when this device will be available for purchase. However a purported internal document from T-Mobile has been leaked online and it lists the Galaxy Note Edge release on November 14th. If this document is to be believed the release will take place merely two days after Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will be available for purchase on the carrier.

The Galaxy Note Edge is already out in select markets which include South Korea and Japan. It is expected that in the U.S. Verizon, AT&T and even Sprint will sell it at some point.

Skin Patch Could Pave The Way For Easier Blood Samples

skin patchMore often than now, a blood sample is required when it comes to diagnosing a slew of diseases, and I would like to think that this is a necessary evil. After all, being jabbed with a needle is not everyone’s cup of tea for sure, and children are not the only ones averse to this. In addition, obtaining blood samples would require the presence of trained staff in the vicinity, which can be a rare commodity in underdeveloped nations. A bunch of Australian researchers with Simon R. Corrie of the University of Queensland at the helm have come up with a skin patch which could soon open the doors to an easier and pain-free method of obtaining blood samples to diagnose a particular medical condition.

Patches in the past which penetrate the skin to pick up a unique biomarker have been around for some time, but they tend to see limited use without being able to offer a confirmed diagnosis. There is this new patch, however, that can test for a couple of protein biomarkers simultaneously, and in lab tests involving malarial mice, it could detect recombinant P. falciparum rPfHRP2 and total IgG, which are biomarkers for the disease. Apart form that, the microneedles in the patch will penetrate into the intradermal layer of the skin, and it carries antibodies for the target biomarkers which are attached to them.

The researchers have come to a conclusion that “such devices can be used to capture clinically relevant, circulating protein biomarkers of infectious disease via the skin, with potential applications as a minimally invasive and lab-free biomarker detection platform.”

Assassin’s Creed Unity Trailer Reveals Plot Twist

If you happen to follow developments in the world of gaming then you would be aware that a new Assassin’s Creed title is being launched in the near future. What many did not know until today is that Unity isn’t just limited to the period of the French Revolution. A trailer for the title released today shows a very surprising plot twist that folks looking out for this game might not have even expected.

The trailer shows that some time travel thing will happen that will transport the lead character, Arno, in the middle of World War II. Since its the 1940s, the equipment won’t be from the French Revolution era, there will be machine guns and everything.

What the trailer does not reveal is how this will be incorporated into the game. So it can not be said for sure right now whether this will be an out-of-the-box experience or a completely new level that is added at a later stage through DLC.

This obviously pumps up the hype machine for Assassin’s Creed Unity which has been built from the ground up for next-generation consoles and the PC. In North America, Unity will be available for purchase starting November 11th.

Are you excited about being able to explore another city in a different era in Unity?

OS31 Designs Restaurant On Frozen River

os31 river restaurantOS31, a British design firm, has managed to win the bid to construct a restaurant. However, what makes this hotly contested winning bid all the more interesting would be the location of this particular restaurant, since it is meant to be located in one of the coldest places worldwide. Those living in Manitoba, Canada, would know how it can be too cold to do anything outdoors during winter, but OS31 has been tasked to come up with a pop-up restaurant on a frozen river during winter. This is one of the most ambitious plans to date, and we would like to think that the success of setting up a proper building over a frozen river is an engineering feat worth applauding – and celebrated.

The whole idea for this pop-up restaurant on ice will be made reality thanks to the incorporation of scaffolding, which translates to easy setting up as well as removal. It will comprise of a couple of structures – one for the exterior, while there will be another for the interior, with one inside the other. The design from OS31 itself will chime in with the local landscape, where steel fixtures would make one think of a nearby bridge, not to mention a snow inspired interior. No idea on what will be offered on the menu when the restaurant opens this January, but do make a beeline for it before the ice melts.

Pangu iOS 8.1 Jailbreak With Cydia May Be Released Tomorrow

ios 8.1 main

The jailbreak community isn’t as active as it used to be back in the day nevertheless Pangu made some ripples last week with its release of an iOS 8.1 jailbreak. This Chinese team released the first jailbreak for iOS 8.1 even though it was meant for developers mostly and didn’t even include Cydia, which is considered as an alternate App Store for jailbroken devices. Today the Pangu team has said that they may release an updated version of their iOS 8.1 jailbreak tomorrow with Cydia baked in.

The Pangu team announced that they have received the Cydia package from Saurik and that they will now test it and subsequently integrate it. If all goes well and there are no hiccups then an updated version of the Pangu jailbreak tool for iOS 8.1 will be released tomorrow.

There’s one tiny issue though. The Pangu tool is only available for Windows right now and the updated version will not include support for Mac. The team has not said as yet if and when they will release an updated version which brings this tool over to the Mac as well.

Moreover the tool is in Chinese language but even if you can’t read the language, it would be pretty easy to get the deed done once you have the tool up and running.

Capsules Offer Direct Release Of Chemo To Brains

targeted chemo brainWhen it comes to the presence of intracranial neoplasms, those do happen to carry a negative reputation by the simple fact that they are extremely notorious to “kill”. One of the major issues would be the problem of delivering chemo drugs to the brain. At the moment, one of the most common methods would be to inject such compounds into the blood stream, and fingers crossed that the injected compounds would arrive at the targeted area to do its job – while minimizing the amount of damage to the body. The blood-brain barrier is another obstacle that prevents maximum effectiveness for chemotherapy to “attack” intracranial tumors, but all of this could be relegated to a thing of the past soon. Researchers from MIT, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Johns Hopkins University have come up with small, implantable capsules which are capable of releasing chemo agents straight into the brain.

This is said to be done in a more safe manner, not to mention with a greater therapeutic effect. So far, experiments have been performed on laboratory mice, and this saw the filling of tiny liquid crystal polymer capsules with approximately 1.5 milliliters of either temozolomide or doxorubicin, which happen to be common chemotherapy drugs. When implanted into mice with metastases in the brain, it was discovered to be extremely effective in what it does, and the next stage would be to usher such technology into clinical practice before clinical trials in human patients begin. Two Women Imitate Kim And Kanye's Looks Like It's Their JOB

It’s no secret that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are known for their style as a couple. But Kathleen Lee and Katie Burroughs, of San Francisco, may have outdone Kimye — by imitating Kimye.

On their genius Instagram and Tumblr, “What Would Yeezus Wear?,” the pair recreate the couple’s signature looks, as well as their poses and facial expressions.

Feast your eyes on some examples:

(Story continues below)

The duo even went for an apt Kanye-North collaboration.

And, apparently, according to E! News, Kim approves of the photos.

“Kim liked the ice cream cone pic,” Lee told E!, “But on my Instagram. At first I was like: ‘Wait, did I just see that notification?’ I assumed it was a fake account, but then all of a sudden my phone blew up with likes from all of her followers.”

We agree with Kim. After all, imitation is the sincerest kompliment, right?
