Did you know that originally Mr. Potato Head was just a box full of random body parts that kids were supposed to jab into actual potatoes? It sounds like a crazy idea, but Mr. Potato Head went on to become an incredibly popular and iconic toy—and we can only assume the creators of these Open Toys parts that let kids turn fruits and vegetables into planes and race cars are hoping for the same level of success.
Last week we asked for your worst stories of accidentally hitting Reply All , those horrible moments when you realize that the thing you meant to send one person just went out to the whole office (or company, or family reunion thread, or other group of people containing at least one person who is going to be offended).
Most bands release a new album as MP3s, and on both CD and vinyl. If you caught any of OK Go’s music videos, you know they prefer to do things a little differently. In addition to the aforementioned formats, the band plans release its latest album…
When eBay Now first surfaced two years ago, it appeared in the guise of an iOS app that promised same-day delivery for products sold by local stores. The service managed to pick up some steam (or at least that’s what company execs led us to believe)…
Earlier today we reported that Sony had denied claims that PSN was hacked and if you thought that was the end of it, you’d be mistaken. While Sony PSN might not have been hacked, it looks like another division of Sony has – Sony Pictures. According to reports, Sony Picture employees were recently greeted with an image which you can see in the screenshot above.
The image shows a threatening message left behind by the hackers, followed by a handful of URLs which apparently is where the hackers might have uploaded sensitive information they might have stolen from Sony Pictures, although we highly suggest that you do not follow these URLs as they could just as easily contain malware that might infect your computer.
The hackers have made demands and are threatening to release even more documents if Sony does not give in to them. The files seem to be primarily financial records and password files, so if you were wondering if there might be any movie or trailer leaks, that doesn’t seem to be the case just yet.
Employees at Sony Pictures are unable to do any work as they are unable to send email, use their phones or their computers. In a statement issued by Sony, “We are investigating an IT matter.” However according to one employee who spoke to the folks at Deadline, they painted a slightly more grim picture by saying, “We are down, completely paralyzed.”

The joy of buying a phone from a retailer as opposed to a carrier is that you can skip all that carrier approval processes that usually comes with updates, and chances are you might see updates earlier than those who bought their phones from carriers. The downside is that you might have to pay more due to a lack of a subsidy.
That being said, the Moto X (2014) had recently begun to receive its Android 5.0 Lollipop update, and the good news is that if you’re a Moto X (2014) owner who bought their phone from Verizon, it has been confirmed that the Android 5.0 update for your particular Moto X (2014) variant will begin rolling out today.
Now some had speculated that the update was still in testing when the changelog was posted, but later reports from users have revealed that the update has made its way onto their handsets. We can only assume that just like previous updates, the Android 5.0 update for the phone will be a staggered release.
If you have yet to receive your Android 5.0 update, fret not as we expect it should arrive in the coming days/weeks. The update measures close to 700MB so you will want to connect to a WiFi network for this. If you’d like to try and manually pull the update, you can do so by heading to your phone’s Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates. So, have you received your update yet?

The Nexus 10 tablet from Google was launched 2 years ago with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The good news is that with it being a Nexus device, it was on the receiving end of the latest Android build – Android 5.0 Lollipop. Now if you have yet to update your tablet to the latest version of Android, it seems that you might want to consider holding off on doing so for now.
There seems to be a growing number of complaints on the Google Product Forums that the Nexus 10 tablet has inexplicitly lost its audio after users had updated to Android 5.0. This isn’t just a speaker problem as users who have tried to plug in headphones to the tablet are reporting that no audio is routed to their headphones either.
So far it seems that Google’s support staff has acknowledged the issue and are actively responding on the forums to try and provide solutions to customers, which unfortunately based on the feedback doesn’t appear to be working very well. Now there are some things you can try, such as rebooting the tablet.
Some users have had luck rebooting the tablet 5-6 times and having audio come back on. Other methods involving rebooting the tablet into safe mode to see if there might be a particular app that is causing the problem. Either way hopefully Google will be able to close in on the specific problem and issue an update for it, but in the meantime are any of our readers’ Nexus 10 tablets afflicted by this weird bug?

Get togethers with extended family members around the holidays usually involves a balancing act, as these gatherings are notoriously challenging given all of personalities and dynamics in play. Relatives love to poke and prod, especially if there is a newcomer in town. On one end of the table you can count on the sibling who peppers your date with 30 rapid fire questions.
Even if this barrage is cleanly navigated, they will surely have to encounter the grandparent or aunt who needs to review the list of every individual’s relationship status over the years whether they are present or not. Is anyone ever truly ready to face the familial bliss that comes with this invite package? Knowing that Thanksgiving is only the beginning of the holiday season, how does one know when the time is right to bring a date along?
• Define your relationship: Just because you bring someone to the Thanksgiving meal doesn’t necessarily mean that they are your significant other, or does it? Make sure the two of you discuss your status ahead of time. The last thing you want is to give off mixed signals when asked about your being a couple. Surely you can count on this question coming up.
• Know your audience: Does the person that you are bringing have certain preconceptions of what a holiday dinner should be? Are they expecting a Norman Rockwell-like scene complete with hand holding and words of praise and thanks? What if your family is more inclined towards the casual approach of a buffet style meal while screaming at the Dallas Cowboys on TV? At the very least your date needs to be debriefed as to what to expect.
• Judging character: Inserting a newbie into the mix is certainly a good way to see whether they sink or swim when put in the spotlight. Naturally all eyes will be on them. Will they be able to navigate and charm the room, or will the end result be your honey spending their evening huddled in a corner gnawing on an oversized drumstick? Relationships are not necessarily just the chemistry between the two of you. Ultimately how your mate interacts with your family at large is important, as they are an extension of who you are.
• Looking into the window: If you are the invited guest, welcome to the front row seat allowing you to see how your significant other gets along with their family. Is it a harmonious setting or a sea of dysfunction? Could this dinner be a bellwether sign as to the future couple that you will become? The family’s ways of communicating and problem solving may inevitably spill over into the dynamics of your relationship. Remember you can’t choose your relatives, you can only choose how you deal with them.
• Timing: The length of your relationship should not be the determining factor in bringing your mate to meet the family on Thanksgiving. Whether your courtship is a few weeks or a few months old, the answer lies in the quality of your connection. As long as you are comfortable with the foundation that the two of you have, including them should feel like a natural progression.
It is showtime! You can do the dance, say the three magical words and meet each other’s friends, but this is small potatoes compared with the meeting of all meetings…… mom, dad and the kinfolk. Unless otherwise stated that the two of you are platonic, inviting a date to Thanksgiving will inevitably be interpreted as a meaningful gesture. Be proactive and prep your family by sharing in advance any sensitive topics to avoid so as to smooth the road.
Ultimately in bringing someone special to the Thanksgiving dinner you are peeling back the layers and exposing a side of yourself to your significant other and taking some risk. If things go south, lesson learned. If all goes well, you’ve got yourself a keeper (or at least a date for New Year’s Eve).
