Flow Programmable Shortcut Helps Make Life Easier

ycombinatoWe are all about efficiency these days. Take a look at the number of personal devices that we carry around, and see the kind of efficiency that flows through them, bringing a phone, camera, media player, and organizer all under a single roof. Well, in order to ease your computing life as well, the Flow happens to be a programmable shortcut that provides flexible shortcuts and perfect control in a fast, precise, intuitive and fun manner.

In other words, Flow is a freely programmable wireless controller, where it has been specially made to interact with your hand, combining a trio of technologies in a manner where it suits the needs of those who work as professional designers and the ilk. Flow will be able to recognize hand gestures, where the combination of sensitive touch and precise haptics would make it the ideal tool to work, play and create in the digital world.

With dozens of controls available right out of the box, offering virtually unlimited access to a variety of commands, you will see additional controls being added for applications each week, going to show how Flow evolves over time. It does not look as though Flow is going to end up as a bona fide gaming controller though.

Mighty Watch Brands Clamping Down On Virtual Watchfaces

moto360 6 640x479

With conventional watches you’re limited to just one watchface but that’s not the case with smartwatches. These wearable devices allow users to download and install as many virtual watchfaces as they like so users can decide between available options depending on their mood. Just don’t expect a virtual watchface replica of any major watch brand to land on your wearable device, a new report reveals and some of the biggest watch brands in the business are now going after people replicating their watchfaces for smartwatches.

Some of the biggest brands in the business, including but not limited to IWC, Panerai, Omega, Fossil, Armani, Michael Kors, Tissot, Certina, Mondaine, Swatch and Flik Flak, are shooting off cease and desist notices to websites and individuals hosting or offering replica watchfaces for download.

TorrentFreak claims to have seen notices sent by Richemont, a company which owns big brands like Cartier, IWC and Panerai, claim that digital watchfaces replicating its designs are a breach of its trademark rights. Websites and individuals offering them up for download are given 24 hours to take the watchfaces down or risk legal action.

FaceRepo is a website that offers watchfaces and it confirms receiving takedown notices from major watch makers. It is now using a keyword based filtering system where user uploaded content is immediately screened and stopped from being visible on the website immediately if its face name, description and tags contain brand names of some of these big watch makers.

Blood Sport Bleeds You When You Lose

blood sport1If you think that playing games is all fun, then you certainly have not tried competitive and professional gaming. That is a totally different level that requires a whole lot more concentration and the ilk, but with Blood Sport, the ante gets upped even further. The name of the game itself more or less shares the meaning behind it – you actually lose some blood when you fail to emerge as the victor in the virtual world. This concept will rely on modified game controllers that drain your body whenever your character takes damage, where the Arduino-based technology will interpret the gamepad’s rumble signals (which is more often than not, an indicator that you have been hit) as commands to collect blood – your blood.

Thankfully, Blood Sport will limit transfers based on one’s age, medical conditions and weight, hence you need not worry about passing out after getting a beating from your brother or friend. I sure as heck hope that the proper sanitation steps have been taken to ensure that there is no risk of being infected by blood-borne diseases.

One thing is for sure, this is one of the weirdest game controllers that we have ever come across. Do you think that this Kickstarter campaign will be able to achieve its goals?

Material Design Apps May Not Run Smoothly On Samsung Devices

galaxy note 4 review 12 640x426

Back when Google was unveiling Android 5.0 Lollipop for the first time, referred to as Android L initially, it showed off a new design language for the system as well as the applications called Material Design. Its a complete visual overhaul of the Android operating system on mobile devices and it really does look good. Some apps have already been updated with Material Design elements but it turns out Samsung devices which have as yet not been updated to Lollipop might have trouble running this Android applications.

Samsung hasn’t updated any of its devices to Android 5.0 Lollipop yet but it is expected to roll out the update soon for its flagship devices. Material Design applications, such as those Google apps that have been updated, are already available for download.

Devices that are powered by older versions of Android are capable of running apps updated with Material Design’s bright colors and three-dimensional user interface, but according to well known Android developer Koushik Dutta, these apps are likely to often crash on Samsung’s smartphones and tablets.

Samsung’s devices may face this issue because in the framework or class path they run older versions of android support library. The company does have in its power to fix this problem, updating devices to Lollipop will also put an end to this, but users can themselves fix app crashes by renaming internal classes using ProGuard which is a program used to optimized Android apps.

Redbox Set To Increase Prices This December

11 RedboxWhen it comes to pricing, Redbox has always played the part of the aggressor. For instance, if you were to walk home with a DVD or Blu-ray from one of Redbox’s rental kiosks, it would definitely be a whole lot more affordable compared to watching the very same movie over on iTunes or Amazon. However, price hikes, which is as inevitable in this life as taxes and death, is set to fall upon Redbox, where their 24-hour rentals is touted to increase by a minimum of 25% from December 2nd onward.

At the moment, the 24-hour rentals are priced at $1.20, which means DVD rentals will see an increase to $1.50, while current $1.50 Blu-ray discs will be bumped up to $2.00, which is translated to a 33% increase. Still, despite the higher prices, this is still a more affordable option compared to taking the digital route, where a new release tends to cost somewhere in the region of $4.99, be it for downloading or streaming in high definition.

The reason behind the more expensive rentals? It is part of the company’s strategy to keep up with the times and remain competitive, without turning too low a profit. Do you think that the Redbox model will go the way of the dodo one of these days?

Goat Simulator MMO Pays Tribute To Diablo 3’s Cow Level With Easter Egg

Who would have thought that a game like Goat Simulator would end up being successful enough, that it has been warranted to deserve its very own MMO? Well, for those who have had their fair share of fun with the latest Goat Simulator MMO, you might have missed out on this particular tribute – an Easter Egg that pays homage to the famous Cow Level found in Diablo 2.

This particular Easter Egg will require the gamer to make use of a catapult in order to fling himself into “Twistram.” Diablo fans will no doubt be familiar with that play on the village in the Diablo series, where Twistram will feature gloomy lighting and accompanying music which will roll back the years. From there, you would need to make a mess out of the Cathedral so that you can uncover the subterranean passage which will send you to the “Not So Secret Cow Farm.”

In there, the anthropomorphic cow herd would be enraged with the presence of a goat, where they will then target you with laser beams from their eyes. Of course, you can kill them, but the sheer number of cows there make it an impossible task to complete even if you have all eternity to do so.

Samsung Could Have New Smartphone Model In The Pipeline

new samsungYou must have heard of this before – that insanity has been described as doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Samsung has managed to make a name for themselves in the past few years as a smartphone powerhouse, rolling out device after device with unerring reliability, seemingly targeting the entire gamut of possible phone users out there, ranging from the entry level to the mid-range before making its way to the high end side of things. Well, Samsung has gotten themselves into a rather rocky patch at the moment, which is why they intend to do things slightly different next year. Word has it that there is a new Samsung SM-E500F in the pipeline that ought to reduce the number of new smartphones released in a single year.

The Samsung SM-E500F was spotted on the Zauba import tracking site, where it is being shipped to India for testing purposes. This also marks the very first time that a Samsung device has adopted the letter “E” in its model name, which could very well be the strongest hint yet that this is the first of a potentially new family of smartphones. This looks set to be an entry level offering with its import price of INR9,378, that is converted to approximately $151.
