Firefly Jayne Dress-up Magnets are Like Paper Dolls for Geeks

My daughter had a birthday recently, and one of the things she received was a notebook of those paper punch-out dolls that you can put clothing on. They are all over the place and it seems I am constantly picking up little paper underwear from the floor. Here’s something similar, only much geekier.

Firefly Jayne Dress-up Magnets have debuted and they are pretty cool, assuming you can get past a magnetic dude in his undies on your fridge. The officially-licensed Firefly collectible comes with the clothing he wears on the show, weapons, and some words you can put around him.

Yes, the set does include his weird goggle hat too. You can pick up your set of magnetic Jayne dress up dolls at ThinkGeek for $7.99(USD). This would be the perfect Christmas gift for a friend who likes science fiction, while staying under the $10 budget most friends are worth at Christmas.

NVIDIA Shield LTE Receives Android 5.0 Update

shield lollipop

NVIDIA became probably the first Android tablet manufacturer to roll out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update as quickly as it did. The roll out of this update was announced on November 13th. By November 18th Lollipop had landed on the Shield tablet. However this was limited to the Wi-Fi variant. Those who had the LTE variant had to wait, until today.

Starting today the Android 5.0 Lollipop update is rolling out for the NVIDIA Shield LTE. It didn’t come at the same time as the Wi-Fi only variant because NVIDIA was waiting for carrier approval at that time.

That’s a drawback when it comes to software update on LTE tablets, carriers have to approve the update before it can be rolled out to the devices. This is why Shield LTE owners have had to wait for an extra week just to get Lollipop on their tablets.

The 8-inch NVIDIA Shield tablet has the company’s own Tegra K1 processor, a full HD display and stereo speakers. Its meant to be more of a gaming tablet really as it has been developed with that purpose in mind.

Those who have a Shield LTE tablet can now check their devices to see if the update has landed, NVIDIA is pushing it out over-the-air.
