Like Benny, I can not shout SPACESHIP enough. Maybe it is because it was what I grew up with, but that classic space blue, grey and yellow just scream out awesome to me. Builder Damoncorso agrees and has given us this amazing Exo-suitesque mech suit in the classic space colors.
Were you one of those kids who saw Robert Zemeckis insist that hoverboards were real back in 1989? Then tonight’s episode of the ABC sitcom The Goldbergs is for you. In the episode Adam wants to come up with a cool explanation for how he broke his arm, so he decides that he’ll tell people he was riding a hoverboard. The only problem: They don’t exist yet.
Comcast just can’t catch a break. Opponents of the company’s $45 billion Time Warner Cable merger have gathered forces to create the “Stop Mega Comcast” coalition, just as the FCC has announced that it’s restarting its regulatory review of the deal. …

Technology can bring people together… and tear them apart, apparently. The Italian Association of Matrimonial Lawyers claims that WhatsApp chats are cited as evidence in 40 percent of Italian divorce cases where cheating is involved. Reportedly, a …
Table tennis is always fun and can get your blood pumping. It’s not super athletic unless you’re actually trying though (it is an Olympic sport after all). The competitive nature in people is what often gets them to move the most, but it can be frustrating if you’re not very good, and can’t seem to keep it on the table. These types of players, myself included, having to constantly retrieve the ball will make you more tired than actually playing.
If you want all the action of smashing a ball back and forth without having to play fetch, then Virtual Pong might peak your interest. This removes the classic ping pong ball, and replaces it with a “ball of light”. You and your opponent have an electronic “racquet” with which you smack the ball back and forth. Instead of being on the table, it trails on the walls and ceiling.
The racquets will need 2 AAA batteries a piece, and the light will need 3 AAA batteries. The first one to 11 will be considered victorious, but if you’re both getting a workout, doesn’t that mean everyone wins? While they do put “ages 6+” on there, that means anyone should be able to use this and still have fun. This will cost you $59.99, and if you can’t see yourself playing it, this would be a great way to tire out your relative’s kids around Christmas time.

The key to a sense of touch in VR might be sound, ironically – a team working out of the University of Bristol in the UK (via New Scientist) have worked out an improved version of haptic tech that can use high-frequency sound emitters to mimic the effect of touching a physical object, without any physical object present. Researcher Ben Long and his team at the university had already… Read More
Richard Stratton has lived a life fuller than most could imagine, from drug smuggler to inmate to High Times editor to author and TV executive. At 58, Stratton has also seen more ups and downs than most.
In his new book, Smuggler’s Blues: A True Story of the Hippie Mafia, Stratton details his life as a marijuana smuggler, including a run-in with arguably the most famous mobster in American history.
He shared some of the details during a HuffPost Live interview on Wednesday, explaining that he had an under-the-table agreement with workers at Boston’s Logan Airport to help smuggle the weed into the country, and the Italian mobsters in Boston wanted a cut:
The most dangerous situation that I was ever in was when the mafia in Boston put a contract out on me … Fortunately for me, there was another guy working in the airport that was connected to probably the most famous gangster in Boston at that time, a guy named Whitey Bulger, with the Irish mob. … I did ultimately go to Whitey, told him what was going on, he spoke to the Italians, and they killed the contract.
You might have heard Bulger’s name in the news, as the outlaw managed to survive 16 years on the run before being captured in 2011.

After a grand jury said it would not indict the police officer who put Eric Garner in a fatal chokehold in July, New York City residents took to the streets to protest the decision.
“I am Sean Bell. I am Amadou Diallo. I am Ramarley Graham. I am Michael Brown. I am every black man that has been lynched,” said Kevin Buford, a Staten Island resident who was protesting in Tompkinsville, the neighborhood where Garner died.
Kevin Buford, left, protested the death of Eric Garner.
Buford said he knew Garner and that he was a good person who “always lent a helping hand.”
Garner, 43, was being placed under arrest for selling loose cigarettes when he died July 17. On Wednesday, a protester stood near the spot where he died and waved cigarettes in the air.
The New York City Police Department anticipated demonstrations in response to the grand jury’s decision and has been preparing for days.

You’d think it would be a cakewalk to make friends with other parents. After all, you’re both parents! With children! Presumably at the same daycare or preschool! But no, you would not believe how difficult it is to find other people who both feel the same way you do about Cry it Out and also like the Pixies.
