Gangnam Style Broke YouTube's View Counter

Gangnam Style fell out of the public eye a while ago (thank god) but people haven’t stopped watching it. It’s been seen so many times that it actually broke YouTube’s view counter, in the nerdiest possible way by busting the code behind the scenes.

Next Version of Bluetooth Will Directly Connect to the Internet

Next Version of Bluetooth Will Directly Connect to the Internet

Bluetooth is kind of like Wi-Fi’s smart but misunderstood cousin. The word “Bluetooth” conjures images of finance bros yelling into those obnoxious little earpieces more than what the technology actually does, which is connect devices together over short distances. Well, Bluetooth’s upcoming 4.2 spec may prove too useful to ignore: This revamped version of the technology will directly connect to the internet.

Google's Clever Plan to Make CAPTCHAs Way Less Annoying

CAPTCHAs are an unfortunate side effect of the internet. They’re those irritating collection of numbers and letters morphed into some Surrealist dreck that leaves us guessing, and guessing, and guessing. Google wants to improve all of that with updates to reCAPTCHA, a one-click solution for telling websites that you are, in fact, a human being.

ASUS X002 Spotted

asus x002When we talk about the world of smartphones, the name ASUS does not really register on most peoples’ minds, since this particular brand name is more often than not associated with computers and laptops, not to mention some peripherals such as routers and the ilk. However, it must be noted that ASUS has had made the foray into smartphones in the form of its relatively successful Zenfone range, while a latest model might just have made its way through TENAA and GFXBench. This particular model is known as the ASUS X002, where it will sport a 5″ 720p display while being powered by a quad-core 64-bit processor.

The ASUS X002 will be powered by Android 4.4.4 KitKat, where it will be based on a MediaTek MT6732 chipset that features a quartet of Cortex-A53 cores at 1.5GHz and Mali-T760 GPU keeping it company. GFXBench claims that the X002 has 2GB RAM, while TENAA mentioned just half the amount – perhaps this has something to do with it arriving as a regional variant.

We do know, however, that the ASUS X002 happens to be a single-SIM device while featuring LTE connectivity, an 8MP shooter that is located at the back, a 5MP selfie camera, 8GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot, all of it packed into a chassis that measures 9.9mm thin while tipping the scales at 140 grams.

Samsung Spends Plenty On R&D

samsung logo 5 640x337When you are a conglomerate like Samsung of South Korea, you can be sure that you would have to invest plenty of money in research and development in order to remain ahead of the game. Well, it seems that a recent research has pointed out that Samsung has spent a whopping $13.4 billion for the research and development of new technologies in 2014 alone – which is a whole lot more than some of its major rivals.

Among all of the IT-oriented companies studied, Samsung was the biggest spender, holding the second spot in the midst of global companies, with Volkswagen being right up there at the very top. The Strategy & Analyst company was the one behind the study, and this would mean that Samsung has occupied second place for the second year running. Intel, who happens to be one of the larger chipset manufacturers around, pulls up at third, courtesy of the $10.6 billion spent on R&D in 2014. Interestingly enough, Apple is not even spotted on the R&D spenders’ list, now how about that?

Granted, Samsung does a whole lot more than just smartphones and tablets – have you seen the various portfolios of the company that it holds in South Korea? After all, there is money to be made in different departments, too.

BlackBerry Passport Red And White Gallery

passport red 1The BlackBerry Passport has been talked about much, where we do know that it will arrive in both red and white colors. Depending on which particular shade you like, either one would work just fine for those who prefer something functional and has an enterprise feel to it, and yet exudes a rather trendy image. The more uncommon white and Limited Edition red variants of the BlackBerry Passport are now available for your visual perusal in the photo gallery right after the jump.

At least both of these colors are a whole lot more interesting than the dull looking, standard black version of the Passport. Do bear in mind that at this point in time, the black and white models happen to be the only ones that are in stock over at BlackBerry’s eStore, while the Limited Edition red model is having its pre-orders taken, and for the rather alluring shade, it will also cost you an additional Benjamin on top of the standard price, bringing the total financial damage to your bank account at $799. Shipping for the Limited Edition red model is said to commence this coming December 7th. Either way, both shades of red and white certainly usher in a Christmas feeling – which leads me to say that we’re missing a green color.
