This Maglev Gearbox Doesn't Need Teeth

The most inefficient part of a gearing system is also its most vital: the teeth. While they allow the systems to, y’know, work, they also introduce vast quantities of frictional losses and, in turn, mechanical wear—so this new system uses magnetic levitation to do away with them.

Sony PlayStation 4 20th Anniversary Edition Announced

We’re not sure how many of you guys remember the Sony PlayStation 1 from back in the day, but if you do, you might recall that it definitely does not look as sleek or as sexy as the later iterations of the PlayStation consoles, like the PlayStation 3 or the PlayStation 4. However if you’re feeling a little nostalgic, then perhaps the 20th anniversary PlayStation 4 might be worth your consideration.

This was recently announced by Sony where they revealed that they were creating a limited edition version of the PS4. This is to celebrate the PlayStation brand which was first started back in 1994 with the original PlayStation console. To celebrate the 20th anniversary, Sony has created a PS4 that has been given an “Original Grey” finish, which as you can see in the video above is reminiscent of the colors of the PlayStation 1.

According to Sony, there will only be 12,300 units produced and while pricing in the US has yet to be revealed, in Europe it has been priced at 499 EUR. The console will also unfortunately not be available at retail, so how will consumers get their hands on it? Well Sony has mentioned that they will reveal this at the PlayStation Experience this weekend.

We have to admit we do like the retro look of the PS4 but what do you guys think? Any of you planning on picking up one for themselves once the details about its availability have been revealed?
