Aaron Joseph Purmort, Spider-Man, Dead At 35

A Minneapolis-area man recently lost a battle with cancer. But just before his death last week, he wrote an obituary where he revealed a startling secret to the world.

Aaron Joseph Purmort, 35, said he was none other than the Amazing Spider-Man:

Purmort, Aaron Joseph age 35, died peacefully at home on November 25 after complications from a radioactive spider bite that led to years of crime-fighting and a years long battle with a nefarious criminal named Cancer, who has plagued our society for far too long. Civilians will recognize him best as Spider-Man, and thank him for his many years of service protecting our city. His family knew him only as a kind and mild-mannered Art Director, a designer of websites and t-shirts, and concert posters who always had the right cardigan and the right thing to say (even if it was wildly inappropriate).

The touching obituary published in the Star-Tribune also notes that Purmort was once a member of a band called The Asparagus Children, “which reached critical acclaim in the northern suburbs” and that his son, Ralph, “will grow up to avenge his father’s untimely death.”

Purmort also joked that his first marriage had been to singer, actress and fashion designer Gwen Stefani. That led his “current” wife, Nora, to post on Twitter:

Nora wrote about the obit on her blog.

“Before purmort died, we had time to sit down and write his obituary,” she wrote. “I’ve never laughed and cried more in one sitting, but I’m so glad we got to do this. I love this man so damn much.”

Nora also penned a touching remembrance on the day he died.

“Before his first surgery, I stole a marking pen from the surgeon and drew a small heart on his hand. Not so much to reassure him, but to reassure myself,” Nora wrote. “Tonight, I found the same one deep in an old makeup case and at the urging of his mother, left the same small heart for him with the same stolen marker.”

I know what Aaron always knew: it might not be true right this second, but it’s going to be okay.”

Earlier this year, local station KARE profiled the couple when they were married. You can see that report above, and read more about them here.

Future Google Glass Could Be Powered By Intel [Rumor]

dvf google glass frames 640x426

While Google Glass has made its way to several Explorers, the mainstream consumer version has yet to be released. In fact a report from not too long ago seemed to suggest that Google could be losing interest in the device. However that might not necessarily be true because according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal (paywall; via The Verge), Google is actually working on a newer model.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Google is building an upgraded version of Glass that will turn to the use of Intel’s chipsets to power the wearable. This is said to help improve the battery life of the headset which is apparently one of the negative aspects of the device. Intel and Google will also reportedly collaborate on the wearable and will see them push it to the workplace.

For example it could see more use in hospitals. At this point it is unclear as to which of Intel’s chipsets could be used in the newer version of Glass. It has been speculated that there is a chance that the chipset used could be the same one used in the Intel MICA wearable which is expected to see a release in time for Christmas.

In any case neither Intel nor Google have confirmed that this is indeed the case, but what do you guys think? What kind of impact do you see the use of Intel’s chipsets having on Google Glass in the future?

Lumia 1030 Rumored To Sport 50MP Camera

lumia mclaren 1The Lumia 1020 was released back in 2013 which means that we should be able to expect a successor in the near future. Well thanks to a recently leaked photo, we caught a glimpse of the alleged device which has been given the Lumia 1030 moniker. Now given that the focus of the Lumia 1020 was its camera, we can only imagine the same will apply to its successor.

Thanks to a new report from Nokia Power User, additional details about the upcoming handset might have been revealed. This is according to one of their tipsters who has informed them that the upcoming Lumia 1030 will pack a massive 50MP camera in its body, effectively giving it a higher megapixel count than its predecessor.

Their source also revealed that the camera’s sensor will be manufactured by Toshiba and unlike the Lumia 1020, it will not sport a Xenon flash but will feature a 4th-gen short pulse LED flash instead. The mechanical shutter from the Lumia 1020 will not be present in the Lumia 1030 either.

In fact this seems to be more or less in line with the leaked image, but then again this is assuming the image is real to begin with. Now megapixels don’t always matter and don’t necessarily contribute to better photos, but we have to admit we are curious as to the improvements Microsoft will be making to the phone in general. Until we hear otherwise, be sure to take it with a grain of salt for now.

Pizza Hut’s Subconscious Menu Scans Your Eye Movements To Determine Your Order

pizza hut 640x0Imagine you’re at Pizza Hut and you’re trying to decide what pizza to order. Maybe you’re in the mood for pepperoni, or perhaps tonight going for a vegetarian option sounds good too, and basically you just can’t seem to decide what to get. Well how about letting Pizza Hut decide for you?

The pizza company is apparently working with Tobii Technology (the same company behind EyeX controllers) in developing a menu that will scan your eye movement to determine which particular topping you had your eye set on, even though it might have been a subconscious move on your part.

The menu is said to be laid out in a grid format with the 20 most common toppings presented to the user. The tablet will then scan your eye movement and within 2.5 seconds, it will be able to pick out the toppings it thinks you had your heart set on. So far they are claiming a 98% accuracy rating which is pretty impressive.

No word on when Pizza Hut plans on rolling out this new menu to its outlets, but they are considering it. It does sound pretty interesting actually but we’re not sure if this is a great idea or just a bit creepy. What do you guys think?
