Day after day, things keep getting worse for Sony . In the most recent leak, as well as extortion emails , there was a whole treasure trove of private information that’s now freely available online.

Exploding smartphones are always scary especially when you consider just how many of us have smartphones these days. While chances are it won’t happen to most of us, the idea that it could happen can be pretty terrifying. Well according to Hope Casserly, a fourth year computer science student at the University of Guelph, Canada, that’s exactly what happened to her.
According to Casserly, she claims she was sleeping one night when her Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 exploded, waking her up in the process. Due to the explosion, the battery caught fire and proceeded to burn her mattress and her bedding. Casserly claims that her phone was only a little over a year old when it exploded and that it was not charging at the time of the explosion.
Samsung has since responded to Casserly’s claims and has reportedly issued her with a brand new device, although they noted that during their investigation that Casserly was using an unauthorized battery. However Casserly claims that she had never switched out the battery, so it is unclear as to who might be telling the truth here.
While she did get a new phone in the process, Casserly claims she will not be using the replacement anytime soon. This is actually not the first time we have heard of phones exploding. We have heard horror stories in the past of how a Samsung Galaxy Note battery exploded so this is definitely not the first time that Samsung’s phones/batteries have come under the microscope, but what do you guys think?

In case you haven’t heard by now, Sony Pictures was hacked and it looks like the hackers are refusing to give up. The hackers had previously sent the employees at Sony Pictures threatening messages and in their latest demand, have warned Sony Pictures to pull The Interview, or else.
For those unfamiliar, The Interview is a movie starring Seth Rogen and James Franco and it’s about how the characters in the movie make their way into North Korea to assassinate Kim Jong-Un. Safe to say when the movie was first announced, North Korea was not too pleased about it and made threats of their own.
However when Sony Pictures was hacked, North Korea denied their involvement although at the same time they praised the hackers’ efforts. While there has been some evidence that the hack came from North Korea, it was recently revealed that at least one of the attacks came out of Bangkok, Thailand.
In a message sent to Sony Pictures by the hackers, it reads, “We are sending you our warning again. Do carry out our demand if you want to escape us. And, Stop immediately showing the movie of terrorism which can break the regional peace and cause the War!” What do you guys think? Will Sony give in to the hackers’ demands?

Typo2 For The iPhone 6 Announced
Posted in: Today's ChiliBack in 2013, a company called Typo unveiled the Typo keyboard for the iPhone. Basically it’s a keyboard case that adds a physical QWERTY keyboard to the iPhone. For those who hate typing on the onscreen keyboard, we guess the Typo is a good alternative. Well if you just got your hands on the new iPhone 6 and were looking for a keyboard, you’re in luck as Typo has recently announced the Typo2 for the iPhone 6.
We should point out that the iPhone 6 is a pretty big phone with a 4.7-inch display and by adding the Typo keyboard accessory, it will end up making your phone even bigger (or longer) than ever. If you don’t mind the added weight and size, then we guess it could be worth checking out. Other than that, the Typo2 is basically the same keyboard as from before, just designed for the new iPhone 6.
The company also has a Typo2 in the works for the iPhone 6 Plus with its 5.5-inch display. We can’t really imagine using the Typo2 on the iPhone 6 Plus, but hopefully the end result won’t be too bad. In case it wasn’t obvious, the Typo2 is also a departure in terms of design from the original Typo.
This is because the company was sued by BlackBerry for allegedly copying its keyboard design. In any case if you’d like to check out the Typo2 for the iPhone 6, you can do so by heading on over to its website for the details.

Heads up gamers, if you were looking forward to getting your hands on the latest Hearthstone expansion, you now can as Blizzard has recently announced that Goblins vs Gnomes is now live! Gamers can go ahead and download the latest expansion and if you hurry up and do so before the 19th of December, gamers will get 3 free Goblin vs Gnomes card packs.
The game was originally announced back in November during BlizzCon 2014. Unlike the Curse of Naxxramas expansion, Goblins vs Gnomes will be a much bigger expansion. The expansion will see the addition of more than 120 new cards to the game which will include new mechanics, minion types, gameplay modes, and so on.
The expansion will be free for download which is unsurprising given that Hearthstone is essentially free. However gamers who wish to get additional cards will have to pay for it by purchasing booster packs. Either that or they can farm for gold and/or craft the cards themselves by farming for materials.
The game is currently available on the PC, Mac, and the iPad. Android tablet support is expected to arrive by the end of the year, as mentioned previously by Blizzard. However support for the iPhone and Android smartphones will be coming in 2015.

While passwords and single logins are the default method to log into most websites, it isn’t exactly the most secure as anyone who has figured out your login credentials can easily log into your account. This is where two-step authentication comes into play where it requires an additional code, sometimes sent to your phone, to verify the user.
This is a feature Apple has recently introduced to iCloud and while it is no doubt a boon for those who are extremely concerned about their privacy and security, there is a downside. This comes in the form of a Recovery Key that is needed to retrieve your account in the event that it gets hacked or if someone tried to hack it, and apparently if you forget this Recovery Key, safe to say you’re doomed.
This was discovered by The Next Web’s Owen Williams when he discovered that someone had tried to hack his iCloud account. The account was then locked which sent Williams to iForgot, Apple’s account recovery service and it was there that he had to enter his Recovery Key password in order to get his account back.
As he did not remember the password he used for the Recovery Key, he was in trouble. Calling Apple Support and speaking to friends who work at Apple yielded no success as they all told him that Recovery Key was pretty much the only way he could get his account back, or he could create a new Apple ID instead.
Thankfully Williams managed to dig up his Recovery Key and got his account back, but if anything this serves as a good reminder to users out there who uses Apple’s two-step authentication system – remember your Recovery Key lest you want to lose your Apple ID!

Back in 2013, Microsoft announced Xbox Fitness. This was a feature that was included in the Xbox One console and was available for free for Xbox Live Gold members. The original announcement back in September was that the service would remain free for Xbox Live Gold members until the end of December 2014.
As per the FAQ, “An Xbox Fitness Pass gives you unlimited access to the world’s best workouts for free with your Xbox Live Gold membership through December 2014, only on Xbox One.” Well the good news is that if you’ve enjoyed using the program and would like to continue using it for free, you’re in luck.
Microsoft has recently confirmed to the folks at Windows Central that Xbox Fitness is expected to remain free even until 2015. It is unclear if this free access will continue indefinitely or if it will come to an end at a specific date, but in Microsoft’s statement to Windows Central, no expiration dates were mentioned.
“While some of the content available will change in January, Xbox Fitness will continue to offer free and unlimited access to a wide fitness video catalog with your Xbox Live Gold membership, as well as the option to purchase additional full programs with Gold and Silver memberships.” So if you have yet to subscribe to Xbox Live Gold, perhaps now might be a good time to consider it, especially if the Xbox Fitness service is something you’re really interested in.

BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) — Hundreds of people marched through Berkeley for a third night a row, blocking a major highway and stopping a train as activists in this ultra-liberal bastion protest grand jury decisions not to indict white police officers in the deaths of two unarmed black men.
Protesters blocked traffic on both sides of Interstate 80 in Berkeley, while another group stood on and sat on train tracks, forcing an Amtrak train to stop Monday night.
A large group of people began peacefully marching earlier Monday through downtown Berkeley. The first stop for demonstrators shouting, “Who do you protect? Peaceful protest” was the Berkeley Police Department. A line of officers in riot gear blocked them from getting close to the building. The group then headed to a Bay Area Rapid Transit train station and sat outside, prompting authorities to briefly shut down the station.
But as the night went on, the protesters divided into smaller groups that disrupted traffic and train passengers.
The California Highway Patrol said in a tweet that some in the crowd tore down fencing to enter the freeway.
Merchants in downtown Berkeley on Monday cleaned up broken glass and took stock of the previous night’s looting after a protest turned that turned violent Sunday night.
Although many activists in other parts of the country have gone home, protests in Berkeley and Oakland are still active, reflecting the area’s long history of protest dating to the 1960s.
The crowds that came out to protest in Berkeley numbered only a few hundred, but some are not college students or residents so much as full-time demonstrators who protest anything — war, prison conditions and economic inequality — and sometimes use demonstrations as a pretext for violence and vandalism, just as they did during the Occupy Wall Street movement.
Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates said a tiny fraction of protesters are obscuring the wider message calling for reform of policing policies nationwide.
“The people in the Bay Area are sensitive to worldwide issues,” Bates said. “Unfortunately, there is a small element that uses violence at times to make their point.”
Bates called the violent elements of the demonstration “cowards and thugs who need to take off their masks.”
It was not immediately known if protesters were arrested Monday night. Five people were arrested Sunday, police said.
Stuart Geiger, 27, a University of California, Berkeley, doctoral student, attended the protest and recorded video of peaceful demonstrators attempting to stop the looting of a Radio Shack.
“There was a pretty vocal sentiment there about keep this a peaceful protest and stay on message,” Geiger said.
Another peaceful protester was struck by a hammer and slightly injured when he tried to stop looting.
In keeping with the city’s protest history, Berkeley leaders have put limits on their police. Officers cannot have search dogs, stun guns or helicopters and are restricted in the type of gear they can wear, said Berkeley police union President Sgt. Chris Stines.
“All of us are out there wearing what we wear on patrol, and as a result, we are getting pretty banged up,” he said, explaining that shin and chest guards and padded vests would help prevent injuries. At least three officers suffered minor injuries.
The protests started after a Nov. 24 decision by the grand jury not to indict officer Darren Wilson in the killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. A New York grand jury on Dec. 3 declined to prosecute a police officer captured on video applying a fatal chokehold on Eric Garner. That decision set off another series of demonstrations nationwide.
Oakland police have arrested about 200 people since the protests started.

With just two years left in office, President Barack Obama might be starting to think about what he’s going to do in the next phase of his career. On Monday night, he got to try out one potential gig: host of a fake conservative news show.
Obama visited “The Colbert Report,” and before sitting down for an interview, he booted Stephen Colbert from the anchor chair and took control of a nightly monologue usually called “The Word.”
“Let’s make this a little more presidential,” Obama said, changing it to “The Decree.”
Then, he proceeded to deliver a Colbert-esque rant against himself.
“Nation, as you know, I — Stephen Colbert — have never cared for our president,” Obama said. “The guy is so arrogant, I’ll bet he talks about himself in the third person.”
In the spirit of the “Word” segment, phrases popped up alongside the president as he spoke.
When Obama said he wanted to talk about things people from both parties like about Obamacare, the phrase “Everything but the ‘Obama'” appeared on the screen.
Obama also wondered how the president could reach young people to get them to sign up for healthcare.
“Young people don’t watch real news shows like this one,” he said.
“Or fake ones like Fox” the message in the sidebar read.
“They watch comedy shows, and I just don’t see the president going on one of those,” Obama said. “They’re beneath his dignity.”
“But above his approval ratings” the sidebar snarked back.
Once “The Decree” was over, however, Obama sat down for an interview in the more traditional format, speaking with Colbert about the Keystone XL pipeline, young voters, the economy and more.
See their discussion of immigration, above. And check back later as this post will be updated with more video clips when they become available.
