Taylor Swift Addresses Karlie Kloss 'Kissing' Photos With A Whole Lot Of Attitude

Did you hear about how Taylor Swift was totally spotted making out with Karlie Kloss at the 1975 show last week?

Of course you did, because a fan tweeted a photo that totally “#confirmed” it, right?

Well that blurry photo paired with reports the two were kissing basically amounted to fan fiction, according to Swift’s rep.

Now Swift herself has broke out all the sass to weigh in on the rumors as well, and we have to say we like it when she shows a little bit of attitude:

USSR 2.0 From Grozny to Moscow

When the darkness came on the night of December 4th, Islamist militants attacked the capital of Chechnya-Grozny. They seized a publishing house and later moved to an empty school. At least 10 policemen were killed, about 28 were injured during a long shootout.

Violence started Thursday morning, when gunmen in three cars attacked a police checkpoint. Caucasus Emirate (Imarat Kavkaz) claimed responsibility for the attack. According to an unknown man in the YouTube video, militants came to the city on a suicide mission, as a revenge for constant oppression on Muslim women in the Republic.

Heavy fighting for the same publishing house happened in December of 1994. Interesting stability is in the country.

Young people from Grozny stormed media and social networks, some of them claiming that most of the population was cheering for militants and posting locations of police and army in order to alarm everyone.

Same time unrest was happening in the heart of Moscow. Around 2 a.m. Putin’s cortege was seen heading towards Kremlin. Soon after, helicopters were taking off. Early morning, on December 4th, President was supposed to deliver his annual state-of-the-nation speech. Perfect timing to make Mr.Putin look really bad. As some might remember-one of the promises he made during his very first term was to end war in Chechnya and bring peace to the land. Look where we are at now.

For many people, myself included, watching/listening Putin talk was a painful experience. According to Mr.President, Crimea is very important to Russian not only because “our people” live there. It is a very important place because out there Prince Volodymyr The Great converted to Christianity.

The Black Sea region, Putin insisted, was as dear to Russians “as the Temple Mount in Jerusalem” is to Jews and Muslims.

He also didn’t forget to blame USA for everything. Starting with conflict in Ukraine, and the recent attack on Grozny as well. According to the President other countries are just jealous of the growth and potential of Russian Federation, and there would’ve been sanctions with or without the annexation of Crimean Peninsula.

Chris Pratt Gives Moving Speech About His Experience Having A Preemie

On Friday December 5, actor Chris Pratt spoke about his preemie son in an emotional speech at the March of Dimes Celebration of Babies.

“I’ve done all kinds of cool things as an actor: I’ve jumped out of helicopters and done some daring stunts and played baseball in a professional stadium, but none of it means anything compared to being somebody’s daddy,” Pratt said in the speech, according to Variety.

In August 2012, Pratt’s wife Anna Faris gave birth to their son Jack nine weeks early. Baby Jack weighed 3 pounds, 12 ounces. “That’s a decent-sized bass,” Pratt joked, adding. “Very small for a human.”

Jack’s time in the NICU was difficult for Pratt and Faris, but they remained hopeful. “I made promises in that moment about what kind of dad I wanted to be and I just prayed that he’d live long enough that I could keep them,” the actor said.

His hopes became a reality. After a month in the NICU, Pratt and Faris were able to bring their baby home. “Our Jack went from a small, helpless little squirt to a strong, smart, happy, funny, beautiful boy who loves monster trucks and Daniel Tiger, and, believe it or not, loves vegetables,” the dad said. “Broccoli and cherry tomatoes are his favorite foods.”

Chris Pratt was speaking at the March of Dimes luncheon to help raise awareness and funds for pre-term birth research. According to the CDC, 1 in 9 babies was born premature in the U.S. in 2012. That’s about 450,000 babies born too soon. Thirty-five percent of all infant deaths in 2010 resulted from preterm birth-related causes. While the preterm birth rate has fallen about 11 percent over the past seven years in the U.S., it remains higher than the rate in most developed nations, the March of Dimes website states.

In addition to his speech, Pratt also lent his voice to the organization as the narrator of a new March of Dimes informational video, the website states.

Pratt also commented on the technological advancements for preemies and the amazing work of the March of Dimes. “None of what we went through would be as easy even 10 years ago,” he said, adding that in the NICU, life or death hangs in the balance — “a balance that’s tipping towards life by cutting-edge medicines, much of which is a direct result of this wonderful organization, the March of Dimes.”

Why People Are Drinking Bone Broth, And What You Should Know About It

It’s an an ancient tradition, but over the past few months, boiling animal bones has become a health craze.

Devotees and nutrition experts say that bone broth’s benefits may include shinier hair, improved digestion, and reduced joint pain and inflammation, according to Yahoo! Health.

And it seems everyone wants to try it. New York City chef Marco Canora opened a takeout window called Brodo in November that serves grass-fed bone broth in coffee cups, and nutrition expert Sally Fallon Morrell released a book on its benefits called “Nourishing Broth: An Old-Fashioned Remedy For The Modern World” in September.

So what is bone broth, anyway? It’s exactly what it sounds like: broth made by boiling poultry, beef or fish bones until they break down. They can be boiled for as little as four hours or as long as 48, personal chef and nutritionist told Ariane Resnick told Refinery 29, and you can make it yourself in a soup pot or slow cooker. And when the bones are boiled long enough, they start to disintegrate and release nutrients and proteins — like calcium phosphate and collagen — in higher quantities than what’s found in regular broths.

Dawn Jackson Blatner, a registered dietician and author of The Flexitarian Diet, agrees that bone broth has a number of benefits, but she’s not exactly calling it the next superfood.

“It’s not a miracle cure like some outlets talk about, but still a good-for-you food,” she told The Huffington Post. “It is hydrating, contains veggie and herb anti-inflammatories and the bones provide collagen, a protein which may help with our own bone, joint and skin health.”

Nutritionist and New York University adjunct professor Dr. Lisa Young said that while the reported benefits are good ones — almost no actual clinical research has been conducted on bone broth, according to Refinery29 — she’s not sure bone broth has as much staying power as other health trends such as kale.

“The advantage of kale is that you can have it in so many ways — a salad, sauteed, as a drink,” she explained to HuffPost. “Bone broth is also not an exciting name. Nonetheless, it is a trend right now. It’s certainly good as a soup for winter in cold climates.”

We doubt we’ll see Beyonce sporting a “Bone Broth” sweatshirt anytime soon, so kale wins for now. But bone broth could certainly be worth a try.

NYC Clergy Join Black And Latino City Council Caucus 'Die In' To Protest Eric Garner Killing

When a coalition of clergy arrived at the New York City Hall to stage a “die in” prayer protest on Monday Dec. 8, they were met with a welcome surprise.

Members of the Black and Latino Caucus had planned an action concurrently and were already assembled when the group of 75 faith leaders arrived at the city hall doorsteps Monday afternoon. The two groups came together to hold a “die in” for several minutes and read names of more than 100 victims of police violence from the last year.

“We came here today to New York City Hall and wonderfully found New York City council members were on the same page,” Linda Sarsour, executive director of the Arab American Association of New York, told HuffPost from the protest.

Chanting “God can’t breathe” and singing spirituals, the clergy were out Monday to protest the grand jury decision not to indict police officer Daniel Pantaleo for the death of Eric Garner.

“It’s extremely important to me as a Muslim when I see that some of God’s children in New York are not being valued,” Sarsour said. “It’s important for clergy to be part of bringing back the moral compass on how [law enforcement] treat all New Yorkers with dignity because that’s what God wants us to do.”

Rev. Donna Schaper wrote to The Huffington Post that she “had to stand up for what is right and decent and enough is enough. I love my country too much to let the police remain un-policed”

The coalition also delivered a letter signed by more than 100 clergy members calling for the appointment of a Special Prosecutor to oversee police misconduct and criminal justice reform in New York City and across the nation.

“Eric Garner couldn’t breath. And as a pastor and man of faith, I know that my faith can’t breath until we transform our sadness into a faith-rooted movement for real police reform, working for the restoration of a broken criminal justice system,” Rev. Peter Goodwin Heltzel, Associate Professor of Theology and Director of the Micah Institute, said in a press release.

Signed by clergy from Christian, Jewish and Muslim traditions, including president of Union Theological Seminary Rev. Dr. Serene Jones, the Islamic Centers’ Imam Khalid Latif and Middle Collegiate Church’s senior minister Rev. Jacqueline J. Lewis, the letter appealed to New York Mayor de Blasio and other city leaders “to stand on the side of what is moral, just, and right.”

We fear not, but walk on to bear prophetic witness to a world of peace and justice, where we all can live together in love. As faith leaders, we stand united in affirming that all people are “made in the image of God” (Genesis 1:27), and will continue to put our bodies and the bodies of our parishioners on the line until our city is safe for our children, especially children of color.

The clergy also called the lack of accountability within the police department “a spiritual problem,” citing the work of faith leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, Dorothy Day, Ana Karim, Fannie Lou Hamer, Malcolm X, and The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr who preached nonviolence.

“In contrast to militarized violence, our faith traditions call us to nonviolent love,” the letter stated. “We are empowered to serve others, not to abuse our human power in destructive ways, including taking a fellow human’s life.”

Four New York rabbis engaged in similar demonstration on Thursday were arrested after reciting the kaddish, a Jewish mourning prayer, and reading the names of more than 20 black individuals who had been killed by New York police, followed by the statement, “I am responsible.”

“Rabbis and all Jews need to stand up and say that every single person is a creation in the divine image — that black lives matter,” Rabbi Jill Jacobs told HuffPost after the Thursday protest. “We put our bodies on the line to show how crucial it is that the systems meant to protect us do protect all of us.”

Santa's Got A Side Job In Hawaii And It's Just As Merry

Turns out, Santa’s got a side job.

Good ol’ Saint Nick has long been the symbol for the jolly Christmas spirit and childhood dreams fulfilled, but holy matrimony?

Thanks to Phil Worwa, a Hawaii resident who owns and operates Santa In Paradise, Santa is available all year long to appear at special events and weddings.

Starting at $250, Worwa will officiate your wedding in full Santa garb and sneak little flourishes into his performance. “In the vows,” he told The Huffington Post, “I’ll have them say, ‘I promise to be good to you every day, because Santa’s watching.’”

To date, Worwa has married eight couples on the Hawaiian island of Kauai and relishes the eccentricity of it all. He boasts that the red outfit looks good with Hawaii’s greenery, and he’s married couples at Kipu Ranch, where they filmed scenes from Jurassic Park. “It’s an aloha Santa marrying you in Jurassic Park,” he said excitedly.

Worwa has really committed to the Santa lifestyle. His sleigh is a red Jeep Wrangler with Santa printed on the doors; he has a Santa face tattooed on his left calf; and he tells incredulous children that, “Mrs. Claus and I have an agreement that I can come down to Kauai every year while she stays at home at the North Pole.”

But he also recognizes the inherent romance of marrying in Hawaii.

“It’s kind of strange, the mystery and mysticism of Hawaii,” he said. “In my ceremony, one of my phrases is, ‘Feel the stirring wind. Those are your absent loved ones and ancestors embracing you for this special moment.’ And wherever it is, at all my marriages and vow renewals, a breeze and a wind will blow through. People will stop and look at me thinking, where’s the button that he pushes to get the air to do that? It makes me feel wonderful, because all of the sudden there’s this unique bond that everybody has.”

In a state where holding your wedding is clearly not an original idea, Santa Phil definitely mixes it up.

Pong for Pedestrians Now a Real Device: Why Did the Chicken Not Cross the Street?

Back in 2012 we found out about StreetPong, a concept for a fun way to encourage pedestrians to wait for the Walk sign to go off before crossing a street. Sandro Engel, Amelie Künzler and Holger Michel came up with the idea. Now Sandro and Amelie have set up their own company, Urban Invention, to develop the safety device, which they now call ActiWait.

Last November, Urban Invention installed a working prototype of ActiWait in Hildesheim, Germany. The company is currently raising funds on Indiegogo to further develop ActiWait. The company thinks of adding other distractions for pedestrians, such as news feeds, a navigation helper, traffic rules for children, surveys and even a speed dating service. Here’s the prototype in action:
