We’re sure there are many ways a politician can pass the time during a dull parliamentary meeting, but clearing a few levels in Candy Crush Saga probably wouldn’t rank high on that list. Nigel Mills, a Conservative MP for Amber Valley, was caught doi…

Sony just can’t seem to catch a break these days. It was a few years ago that Sony’s PSN got hacked and in the process, a lot of credit card information was stolen and Sony landed themselves into some hot water over it. Recently Sony Pictures has been hacked as well, and the bad news for PSN gamers is that if you weren’t around earlier, it looks like PSN got hacked yet again.
The good news is that services appear to have returned to normal, but for a few hours earlier PSN was unaccessible by gamers. During the downtime Sony acknowledged there were some issues although they did not specifically mention that they were hacked. The group behind the hack was the Lizard Squad who claimed responsibility for the downtime by posting a message on their Twitter account.
For those who are wondering why the name sounds so familiar, it is because that is the same group that claimed responsibility for bringing down Microsoft’s Xbox Live service for the Xbox 360 a few days ago. The group also promised back then that the attack was just a small dose of what was to come over the Christmas season, and given that many people will be off work and school during the holidays, hopefully Microsoft and Sony are taking these threats seriously and are bolstering their defenses.
In the meantime are you able to log into PSN or are you still have trouble connecting to the service?

There is still a few more weeks to go until Christmas and if you were thinking about getting your hands on the Microsoft Band either for yourself or for someone else, you will be pleased to learn that Microsoft has recently announced via Twitter that they have more units in stock of the Microsoft Band at their retail stores in the US.
It seems that the replenishment of stock is only applied to their brick and mortar stores, so if you were thinking about getting it online, perhaps going to a Microsoft store might be a better idea. This follows a recent announcement a couple of weeks ago in which Microsoft announced that stock for the Microsoft Band was low and remained sold out.
Microsoft suggested that customers try their luck at their retail stores but made no guarantees, but with the latest tweet, it looks like your luck at the Microsoft store will be substantially greater. Alternatively you could always call your local store to see if they have units in stock, lest you end up making a wasted trip.
The Microsoft Band has proven itself to be quite a hit and a surprising one. The device is priced at $199 and comes loaded with health features that can also be found on other fitness trackers. It also has the ability to track your heart rate and sports a sleek and simple design which we reckon helped with its appeal. So, will you be picking up one for yourself?

Alleged Lumia 1030 Photos Are Reportedly That Of The Cancelled Nokia McLaren
Posted in: Today's ChiliNot too long ago several photos made their way online which according to the rumors are that of the Lumia 1030, the alleged successor to the Lumia 1020. Additional rumors that followed hinted that the device could sport a whopping 50MP camera which safe to say is an exciting feature that we’re sure many are looking forward to.
Well unfortunately if you were hoping for such a device you could be disappointed. According to a tweet by The Verge’s Tom Warren, he revealed that the device pictured in the leaked photos is not the Lumia 1030, but rather the Nokia McLaren device. Given Warren’s history and reputation for leaks and reliable insider information, there is a good chance he could be right.
For those unfamiliar with the Nokia McLaren, this is a device that Nokia was reportedly working on that was later revealed to have been cancelled by Microsoft. The camera on the device is also not of the 50MP variety and is more like 20MP instead. To be fair when the rumors first hit the net, there was speculation that it could have been the Nokia McLaren, but we guess we now have additional confirmation that it is.
However what does this mean? Do we have any high-end Windows Phone handsets to look forward to? While we’re sure Microsoft has maybe one or two planned, we have yet to hear anything and the rumored Lumia 1030 was what many were looking forward to. Perhaps the Windows Phone version of the HTC “Hima” could be worth looking forward to for now then.

Microsoft’s Next Lock Screen For Android Gains More Functionality In Update
Posted in: Today's ChiliWhile Microsoft’s attention is naturally on Windows Phone, it doesn’t mean that they don’t want a slice of the Android pie. You might recall that back in October, Microsoft Garage released an Android lockscreen called Next Lock Screen. Well the good news is that if you are the user of the app and were hoping for more functionality, you’re in luck as Microsoft has recently released an update for it.
The update is a pretty big one. One of the new features that Microsoft is adding to the Next Lock Screen is the ability to view the weather at a glance. This adds more functionality to the lockscreen and will probably make it more appealing to other users who were a bit put off by the lack of features in the first iteration of the app.
Microsoft has also added more personalization features, such as the ability to use your home screen’s wallpaper as the lockscreen’s wallpaper, and also allowing users to hide the status bar if they find it a bit too ugly for their liking. Of course there is still more work to be done to the app, but if you’re looking to try something new, or maybe because you’re a fan of Microsoft, you can go ahead and grab the Next Lock Screen (and its update) from the Google Play Store.

Uber Banned From Operating In New Delhi After Alleged Rape By Driver: Report
Posted in: Today's ChiliNEW DELHI, Dec 8 (Reuters) – Uber, the U.S. online ride-hailing service, has been banned from operating in the Indian capital with immediate effect after a young female passenger was allegedly raped by one if its drivers, the Hindustan Times reported.
The Delhi government has blacklisted Uber from providing transport services due to the behavior of its driver, the newspaper said, quoting a statement from the transport ministry.
The news could not be independently verified but was reported by other news outlets. Repeated calls to officials at the city’s transport department went unanswered.
Police said they were considering legal action against the online taxi service for failing to run background checks on the driver, who was arrested on Sunday and due to be brought before a court on Monday. (Writing by Andrew MacAskill; Editing by Douglas Busvine)
A commercial passenger aircraft almost collided with a drone near London Heathrow Airport over the summer, according to a new report.
While few details have been released, it was reported that the aircraft was an Airbus A320, which can carry up to 180 passengers, and the incident happened on July 22 at an altitude of 700 feet, according to the London Evening Standard.
The UK Airprox Board is expected to publish a report on the incident on Friday and give it the highest risk rating of “A,” the Guardian said. According to the agency’s website, the rating suggests “aircraft proximity in which serious risk of collision has existed.”
“The risk of a 10 kilogram object hitting a plane is a real one that pilots are very concerned about,” British Airline Pilots Association general secretary Jim McAuslan told the BBC, pointing to a 2009 incident in which US Airways Flight 1549 was forced to land in the Hudson River in New York after striking a bird.
“A small drone could be a risky distraction for a pilot coming into land and cause serious damage if they hit one,” McAuslan said.
Drone incidents around air traffic have been on the rise in recent years. In June, the Washington Post reported 15 close-call incidents between aircraft and drones in the U.S. over the past two years.
Current rules prohibit flying drones near American airports. However, last week the FAA said it planned to increase enforcement of the rules.
Toshiba TT301 Is A 24-inch Tablet Aimed At Enterprise Users
Posted in: UncategorizedTablets for the most part are relatively portable. Even the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 which offers a 12-inch display, making it a tad bigger than most tablets out there today. However if for whatever reason you think you might need a larger display, perhaps for collaboration amongst teammates, you might be interested to learn that Toshiba has recently launched the TT301.
The TT301 is the latest tablet from Toshiba and it features a whopping 24-inch Full HD display. Essentially you could compare this to a normal computer monitor, except that in this case it has touch capabilities and will have all of its innards baked under the hood. The tablet is clearly aimed at the enterprise market although pricing and availability has yet to be revealed.
As far as its specs are concerned, the Toshiba TT301 will feature a 1GHz dual-core processor under the hood with 1.5GB of RAM. There will be 16GB of storage accompanying the tablet and will also feature infrared remote control. There will also be HDMI and Miracast support so users can plug into their laptops or even their desktops if they need an additional or larger display.
The tablet will also come with two 2W integrated speakers so if you need to use it to make presentations, we reckon you could get some decent sound from it. Unfortunately on the software side, the tablet will come preloaded with Android 4.2.1 but hopefully it will be updated to newer versions of Android later. The Toshiba TT301 is also expected to launch in Japan first.

German Chancellor Speaks Out Against Net Neutrality, Offers Alternative Solution
Posted in: Today's ChiliNet neutrality, whether good or bad, is still up for debate, although for the most part it seems like many are leaning towards being pro net neutrality. In fact recently President Obama stepped forward to urge the FCC to protect net neutrality and that’s where we can see the divide as the FCC’s chairman stated that he could be considering heading in another direction.
Well it seems that over in Germany, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel appears to be against net neutrality. Speaking at the Digitising Europe conference in Berlin, Merkel has offered an alternative solution in the form of a two-tier internet system. One lane of the internet should be kept as it is, free and neutral like it is now for the most part. The other lane on the other hand will be reserved for special services that might require faster speeds.
However both internet services are expected to run over the same infrastructure. According to Merkel, “An innovation-friendly internet means that there is a guaranteed reliability for special services. These can only develop when predictable quality standards are available.” Exactly what such a system would work and be regulated is unclear, but reports have suggested that the German government is onboard with that plan.
It is also unclear and undefined at the moment as to what constitutes as a special service, although in her proposal, video-on-demand services would constitute as a service that would be eligible for the faster and dedicated internet channel. It’s an interesting idea but what do you guys think?
