HTC One (M9) Gets Leaked…Yet Again

htc-m9-leakedYou know what they say – old habits die hard, and the famous leaker @evleaks is back – with several images of the upcoming HTC One (M9) that you can see above. The alleged render will look a whole lot more sleek and more refined than what has been seen to date, not to mention images of a couple of devices that do sport designs which are not too far from that of the HTC Desire EYE that sports an extremely prominent front-facing camera.

Of course, there are whispers going around that such a handset could very well be the larger sized version of the HTC One (M9), so would anyone want to warrant a guess as to what can be used as the suffix for the handset – Plus or Max? Still, it does look as though the leaked handsets are starting to shape up pretty nicely, and they ought to aid HTC in their road to continued recovery after experiencing some setbacks a few years back.

I would still take what has been leaked out with a pinch of salt – or maybe even more than that, taking into consideration how nothing should be deemed to be done and dusted with without any official confirmation.

HTC One (M8) Gets Android 5.0.1 Lollipop

htc-501If you happen to own one of the older flagships from HTC, which would be the HTC One (M8), then here is some bit of good news for you to celebrate the end of the first month of this year. I am referring to the arrival of the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update that must have been a long time in coming for owners of the HTC One (M8). It seems that this update has started to appear for the international model of the HTC One (M8), where the firmware would then be bumped up to the latest available version of Android, accompanied by HTC’s very own Sense UI.

Do bear in mind, however, that the HTC One (M8)’s latest Android 5.0.1 Lollipo update would weigh in at a rather hefty 780MB, which means it is best to ensure that you download the update via a Wi-Fi network, and to make sure that your handset has a battery which is at least half full.

Needless to say, any new update would mean that there will be new features that accompanies it, including a revamped notification drawer/quick toggle settings alongside the recent tasks switcher. Most of the other improvements happen to be under the hood, and anything that ends up more stable is always more than welcome.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Could Get Android 5.0 Lollipop – In Russia, At Least

galaxy-note-3-review-25Samsung has its fair share of phablets and smartphones available in the market, and the South Korean company does not look as though they are going to slow down anytime soon. Well, this is good news then for users of their devices, as it might translate to better support in the long run of things, which would mean there would be less need to upgrade your handset to a newer model. It seems that the Russian version of the Note 3 (SM -N900) will soon be able to get an update for Android 5.0 Lollipop, via KIES, of course. This particular build would mean the signature number would get bumped up to N900XXUEBOA6.

Apart from the standard goodies of that accompanies Android 5.0 Lollipop, including the likes of ART runtime and an improved performance, one will also be able enjoy a completely overhauled interface in selected areas of the user interface. This must have been looked forward to by many, since there was a beta version of the firmware that leaked out not too long back. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 owners will have to be a wee bit more patient though for their dose of Android 5.0 Lollipop.

New Steve Jobs Movie Cast Confirmed

steve-jobs-photo-first-iPhone-15-sized

The troubled Steve Jobs biopic has finally started filming. Over the past year we have seen several reports about the stars that could get the lead roles and when filming would begin. A few months back Sony Pictures unloaded the project to Universal which quickly wrapped up loose ends and moved into production. Universal has formally confirmed that filming has begun and it has also named the new Steve Jobs movie cast which I am sure many were anxious about.

As previously expected this biopic, penned by Aaron Sorkin and based on Walter Isaacson’s official biography of the Apple co-founder, will be set backstage at three “iconic” product launches ending with the 1998 announcement of the imac.

Michael Fassbender of X-Men: Days of Future Past fame will be playing Steve Jobs. Its his performance that will be judged most harshly by fans and critics alike, nobody wants a repeat of Ashton Kutcher’s portrayal of Jobs, so Fassbender has his work cut out for him. Seth Rogen, known for The Interview, is going to play Steve Wozniak, the second co-founder of Apple.

Former Apple CEO John Sculley will be played by Jeff Daniels. This film also touches on Jobs’ personal life and will include a performance by Katherine Waterston who plays Chrisann Brennan, the ex-girlfriend of Steve Jobs.

Danny Boyle, known for films like Slumdog Millionaire, is going to direct this film. Principal photography has now started in San Francisco. A release date hasn’t been confirmed by the studio yet.

PINK Team And Their Weather-BOT Could Deliver More Accurate Weather Predictions

weatherbotThere is always creativity waiting to be tapped – especially among the young, who are full of ideas and the ilk. Well, it seems as though a bunch of Brevard County students are working together with the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station as well as NASA in order to help them figure out various weather conditions during rocket launches.

After all, the presence of lightning will definitely be detrimental when it comes to a rocket launch, which is the reason why weather balloons are able to be released during rocket launches in order to determine should conditions be safe for liftoff.

In fact, it has already happened twice this past year where there were rocket launch attempts botched due to lightning that stopped the release of weather balloons. This collaboration by students from Rockledge, Cocoa Beach, Viera and Space Coast High Schools has ended up in the form of the Weather-BOT. Known as the PINK team, this robot will release a weather balloon on behalf of humans, doing so in dangerous weather conditions, too. This unique robot will be controlled using a PlayStation remote. It remains to be seen whether the Weather-BOT will be able to work in different kinds of conditions down the road.

Creadapt Is An Extremely Resilient Robot

creadaptIs there such a thing as an unstoppable robot? I suppose in the realm of science fiction, then the T-1000, that is made up of liquid metal, would certainly be top dog – except in the case of the movie, where an outdated T-800 would be able to change things. Here is a unique robot that is known as the Creadapt, which is definitely a breakthrough in the world of robotics, as it moves around on half a dozen adaptable wheels.

When it is on flat ground, the Creadapt robot will be able to make use of its wheels. Of course, upon the time when it meets up various other surfaces, including the likes of dirt, grass, rocks or rubble, then it can alter its gait to function in the most efficient manner. Unfortunately, it has yet to be able to figure out which is the most efficient way of getting around on a particular surface.

The Creadapt project intends to teach robots to be able to do what animals would do, including innovate, optimize, evolve, and adapt. To be able to figure out the next best course of action might lead to a new revolution in the world of artificial intelligence, this is for sure!

Tesla’s ‘Insane’ Button Makes The P85D Go Bonkers

Elon Musk’s all-electric car company Tesla unveiled the Model S P85D back in October last year. Its a high-end model that’s pricey but packed with tons of features but undoubtedly the car’s two electric motors pumping out 691 horsepower are the main attraction. This $120,000 electric car has an “Insane” button on the control panel which when pressed makes the P85D go bonkers.

Musk said that Tesla wanted to achieve the acceleration drivers would usually find on the world’s best supercars which rely on conventional fuels. People who think that electric cars are nothing more than glorified golf carts will be seriously impressed after looking at this video compilation posted online by a P85D owner named Brooks.

Brooks demonstrated just how serious Insane mode is in the Tesla Model S P85D by taking unsuspecting passengers, mainly his friends and family, for a ride. The car does 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds so one can only imagine what those unsuspecting passengers might have felt.

The reactions in the video are amusing to say the least. There’s a lot of swearing and one passenger even loses control of the smartphone in their hand because the acceleration is simply off the charts.

In case you’re wondering Sport is the other mode and it dials down things just enough to make them bearable. Tesla Model S P85D is intended as a high-performance vehicle after all so now there’s ample proof to show that it can really give conventional performance cars a run for their money.
