Nissan Intends To Increase Number Of Quick Chargers

chademoThe advent of electric cars has changed the world of automobiles, although there is no revolution going on just yet. Nissan’s LEAF is a decent ride where electric vehicles are concerned, but it seems that there is a whole lot more work that can be done on the existing infrastructure in order to ensure that electric vehicles would be convenient enough to drive around in. Quick chargers, for instance, would be useful to have around – and Nissan has plans to expand the number of its quick chargers throughout the US. In fact, there are around 800 quick chargers that comply with the CHAdeMO standard that are installed in the US, and by April 1, 2016 (no, this is no April Fool’s joke), the number of quick chargers is expected to hit 1,700 thereabouts.

As for some of the cities out there, they would include the likes of Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles and San Francisco where quick-charger availability is concerned. This would definitely go some way in encouraging the sales of the Nissan LEAF ride, and in the previous summer, we saw Nissan roll out its “No Charge to Charge” program which enabled new Leaf buyers to enjoy free charging at participating public charging stations – for up to two years, now how about that?

NFL Video Highlights To Arrive On YouTube And Google

madden-25-amazon-nfl-sunday-ticket-directvSurely there was no general, all round good feeling when ironed out a deal with the NFL that allowed the social network to play video clips before YouTube, but it seems that the folks over at Google have not actually given up in any way. In fact, Google has also announced that they too, have come to an agreement with the NFL in time for one of the biggest sporting events in the US each year – the Super Bowl. This means there is an NFL YouTube channel just meant for official highlights, where Google will also deliver the likes of video, scores, broadcast times and other information within its search results.

Need an example? Let us say that you type in “New England Patriots”, it will deliver the score as well as a recap of the team’s AFC championship game against the Colts. In addition, one will also be able to enjoy a video preview for the Super Bowl. It seems that there is a “price” attached to this – Google will be splitting the ad revenue with the league, which is a pretty fair exchange in itself. YouTube is touted to deliver clips only, and not the full game so that there will be no competition with other NFL broadcasters. Makes plenty of sense!

Panasonic Toughbook 31 Goes For 18 Hours Now

toughbook31-refreshYou know for sure that a computer will need juice – or electricity to run, and even more so when it comes to laptops. Now, with the advent of Ultrabooks, laptops do happen to run for a few hours on end before requiring a recharge. The thing is, can your laptop actually last for a good 18 hours at a stretch? The refreshed Panasonic Toughbook 31 certainly can, and if you were to throw in the optional second battery, we are looking at a battery life of up to 27 hours, now how about that for long lasting?

Certainly ideal to bring with you on your trips to faraway places where a power outlet is far and few in between. The Toughbook 31 will also be updated with the fifth generation Intel Core i5 processor that delivers enhanced performance in extreme environments, where it boasts of a fully sealed design which is capable of delivering durability in order to meet MIL-STD-810G and IP65 specifications. In other words, the Toughbook 31 is able to handle a six-foot drop without missing a beat, making it the gold standard for emergency service professionals, utility workers and others who need to remain connected and productive – even if they happen to be in the most extreme environments.

Planetside 2 Sets A New World Record

planetside2-recordWe do know that records are meant to be broken, and if you happen to hold a world record, that is definitely an achievement which is worth trumpeting about, as well as drool over. Planetside 2 has done just that – achieving a brand new world record by having the most players ever to participate in a first-person shooter title at any one time. Just how many gamers are we talking about here? How does a whopping 1,158 players in a single battle sound to you?

According to the PlanetsideBattles Twitch channel that broadcast the run at the mark last night, this is one record which has yet to be made official, as the current certified world record by the Guinness World Records happens to be for 999 players three years back for Man vs. Machine, which is a browser-based FPS.

Should this phenomenal number of players be part of the world record, you can be sure that the gold standard has been set – really, really high too, where future FPS battles are concerned. Can you imagine the amount of mayhem that occurs in such a setting? I do wonder how the servers are able to handle that many players at one go – pity the person who is playing with a slow connection.

Snapdragon 810 Issues Push OnePlus 2 Release To Q3

oneplus-01

OnePlus is a new smartphone company that emerged on the scene last year with the OnePlus One. This smartphone was dubbed by the company as the “flagship killer,” even though purchasing one required jumping through a lot of hoops, OnePlus has managed to create a lot of hype for its next product. OnePlus 2 was first expected to be released in Q2, 2015 but a new report suggests that this smartphone might not be out until the third quarter.

The reason cited for this delay has already been heard before. Multiple reports claim that Qualcomm is facing overheating issues with the Snapdragon 810 which could also cause delays for high-end devices like Galaxy S6 and the LG G4. Qualcomm did deny once that the issues won’t have any effect on release timelines.

If rumored OnePlus 2 specifications are to be believed this smartphone is going to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, along with 4GB RAM and a 5.5-inch Quad HD display.

These specifications would put it right up there with other high-end devices but if today’s report is any indication this device won’t be out until the third quarter of this year.

OnePlus has already said that its next smartphone is going to “surprise people,” without elaborating exactly why its claiming that. The company hasn’t also said whether customers would have to go through the invite process once again just to purchase a unit or whether OnePlus is finally going to improve its ordering system.

Tiny Drone Crashes On White House Grounds

drone-whitehouseThe FAA has already mentioned that they would want to have drone operators own a pilot’s license before flying these machines, where a number of good reasons have been cited. Perhaps it would be cases like these – where a small drone actually crashed onto the grounds of the White House, that would support the need for such regulations. Do take note that it was in 2012 that the FAA was ordered by Congress to come up with rules concerning commercial drones, and these will range from machines that weigh just a few ounces to as large as an airliner, in order to share the skies with other passenger aircraft by the time September 2015 rolls around. While commercial drones have been by and large prohibited, the FAA has already granted 16 permits out of 295 applications for various purposes including movie-making and smokestack inspections.

Not only that, the FAA obviously prohibits aircraft from flying over the White House – and this would include drones. The White House is not the only building to be covered by such a regulation, since congressional buildings too, are part of the “deal” for obvious security reasons, among others, concerning national welfare. This incident of the drone gatecrashing the White House’s carefully manicured lawn is most probably an isolated incident, without any malice or ill intention in the first place.

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Will Soon Be Available In Canada

Samsung-galaxy-Note-4-edge-03

In September last year Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note Edge. This smartphone was announced alongside the Galaxy Note 4 and what that smartphone has had a wide release Samsung had said from the start that the Galaxy Note Edge will only be released in select markets. It is already available for purchase in the U.S. and now our neighbours will soon be able to pick one up as well. The Galaxy Note Edge is soon going to be available for purchase in Canada.

Retailer Best Buy has already started to take pre-orders for Canadian customers looking to pick up this device. Those who want to purchase directly from a carrier would find the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge at carriers like Bell and Rogers.

Customers who purchase the smartphone through Best Buy will be able to buy accessories for it at a discount of 20 percent when the device is available.

So far neither the retailer nor the carriers have confirmed pricing and availability but that information shouldn’t be that far off. In the U.S. this smartphone costs $850 so that should given them an idea of what to expect.

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge’s display is curved at the right corner, this “Edge Screen” can essentially be used as a secondary display for media controls and notifications. It is powered by a 2.7GHz processor with 3GB RAM and has a AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution.
