Kim Kardashian And Kanye West Rock Matching Outfits To The 2015 BET Honors

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have made it clear they love to dress alike, whether they’re on the streets of Brooklyn in the same casual attire or front row at a fashion show in matching cleavage-baring ensembles. The couple took its matchy-matchy tendencies to the 2015 BET Honors on Saturday, where the two wore all-black Balmain outfits. Kardashian opted for a demure gown with small cut-outs, while West wore a tailored suit. And of course, they each had unamused facial expressions:

Kardashian took to Instagram to congratulate her husband, who took home the Visionary Award at the BET Honors ceremony, which airs Feb. 23.

“Kanye & I tonight at the BET Honors! My baby received the visionary award!!!! #BothWearingBalmain,” the 34-year-old reality star wrote alongside the photo:

Pope Travels To Philippines To Visit Poor, Country Sends Homeless Kids To Resorts

Outraged activists are demanding answers after hordes of homeless children were removed from Manila during Pope Francis’ recent visit, an accusation local authorities initially denied.

The Pope, who has made caring for people on the streets a cornerstone of his papacy, arrived to the Philippines on Jan. 15 with a mission to engage with the country’s poor people, The Philippine Star reported.

But the main purpose of his five-day visit was pretty much derailed when nearly 500 impoverished people were removed from the streets of Manila and taken to a far-off, upscale resort the day before the Pope arrived, according to Time.

According to British tabloid the Daily Mail Online, children as young as 5 were rounded up and also thrown into squalid concrete detention centers alongside adult criminals.

Local authorities refuted the Mail’s claims, but Philippines Welfare Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman admitted that 100 homeless families were taken to the upscale Chateau Royal Batangas resort.

The accusations are particularly concerning considering the scope of Manila’s homeless crisis.

According to a report released last year, 22.8 million people in metro Manila don’t have roofs over their heads, making it the highest homeless population in the world, The Star reported. The issue was exacerbated even further after Typhoon Haiyan hit in 2013.

Juliano-Soliman said the goal of relocating the homeless people was to protect the vulnerable families from the crowds, but she also admitted that she feared they would be something of an eyesore, Time reported.

“[They] could be seen as not having a positive influence in the crowd [and be] used by people who do not have good intentions,” Juliano-Soliman told Time.

The process was organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), a group that offers social services to underserved families.

But advocates are hardly satisfied with Juliano-Soliman’s justification.

Kabataan party-list Rep. Terry Ridon, who initiated the investigation into the claims, was aghast by the “clearing operations,” she told The Star.

She told the news outlet that it was “truly horrendous given the fact that Pope Francis visited our country to — first and foremost — see and talk to the poor.”

Man Transforms His Home Into A Cat Paradise For Maximum Kitty Fun

Since the 1990s, home builder Peter Cohen has spent tens of thousands of dollars transforming his Goleta, Calif., house into a kitty paradise for his many rescue cats.

The result? One awesomely purr-fect pad.

“cat-house”

Home design website Houzz details just how Cohen turned his home into a cat playground. He’s spent years building a colorful and intricate network of perches, tunnels, ramps and walkways (called “catwalks,” natch) for the enjoyment of his and his roommates’ many cats. They currently have 15 of them — all of them rescues.

“We try to take the kittens that other people don’t want, especially kittens that have been traumatized,” Cohen told Catster in an interview last year.

“cat-house”

Cohen has reportedly spent thousands of dollars constructing the kitty paradise. He told Houzz that the catwalks have cost him about $40,000 to build.

“Way more expensive than a sane person would build, but I didn’t care,” he said. “I love my cats, my house and art, so I designed it to be beautiful to me.”

Ultimately, Cohen says it brings him a lot of satisfaction knowing that he’s providing a safe and happy environment for his rescue animals.

“Giving rescued cats a better life means giving them a place that is solely their own,” he told Catster. “They give us unconditional love, and building the catwalks is one way of expressing my gratitude for that.”

In the video above, which was first posted online last month but has experienced a viral resurgence this week, take a tour inside Cohen’s cat-opia.

Bobby Jindal Endorses Ted Cruz's Push To Ban Same-Sex Marriage

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) said Sunday he would support an amendment to the Constitution that would enable state legislatures to outlaw same-sex marriage if the U.S. Supreme Court were to overturn various state bans.

“If the Supreme Court were to throw out our law, our constitutional amendment — I hope they wouldn’t do that — if they were to do that, I certainly will support Ted Cruz and others that are talking about making … a constitutional amendment to allow states to continue to define marriage,” Jindal said on ABC’s “This Week,” referring to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

Gay Americans are unable to marry the partner of their choice in more than a dozen states. Jindal’s home state defines marriage as between a man and a woman, and he argued that the ban on same-sex marriage was not tantamount to intentional state-sponsored discrimination.

“I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman,” Jindal said. “My faith teaches me that, my Christian faith teaches me that. I’m not for discrimination against anybody. I know that many politicians are evolving, so-called evolving on this issue based on the polls. I don’t change my views based on the polls.”

The Supreme Court this month said it would decide on gay-rights cases that seek to enable same-sex marriage across the country. The cases will be argued in April. A decision is expected in June.

About three dozen states allow people to marry their partners regardless of their sex. Courts in states led by Republicans have been among those calling for an end to bans on same-sex marriage.

Samson delivers Go Mic Direct portable microphone

samson-g-micCommunication is extremely important – one is unable to go through life smoothly without having to possess good communication skills, although communicating well does not mean that one is immune to the downs of life, either. Still, it does help you in your friendships and relationships if you can always convey your thoughts and message across in a clear and accurate manner. There are many ways to communicate, and doing so through a computer via a VoIP program is one of them. Well, the regular built-in microphone found in most notebooks might be functional, but this does not mean it is the best solution. Why not settle for something better, where for the small investment of just $39.99, Samson’s Go Mic Direct would help you talk to the other party in a crystal clear manner.

It does not matter if you are using Skype, FaceTime, voice recognition software, or even recording audio for YouTube videos, lectures, podcasts and webinars, the Go Mic Direct will also come with the Samson Sound Deck Noise Cancellation Software (Mac OS X and Windows compatible), which would then enable one to capture pristine, accurate vocal communications and recordings regardless of the environment. Thanks to the Go Mic Direct, one would no longer need to make use of the computer’s internal microphone ever again, unless necessary, of course.

The Go Mic Direct’s custom, ultra-compact design would boast of a built-in USB connector which would enable the mic to be plugged directly into your Mac or PC – all without having to block any of the surrounding ports. Not only that, the connector will be retractable for maximum portability and safe transport when you are toting around. We are talking about convenient plug-and-play operation with no driver installation required here.

The included Samson Sound Deck Noise Cancellation Software will make use of patented noise cancellation algorithms in order to minimize recurring background noise, ranging from fans to hisses, delivering only clean, high-integrity audio for your computer applications.

Chemists Figure out How to “Unboil” Egg Whites: Welcome to the Future

Though we still don’t have hoverboards and self-lacing Nike high tops, we have managed to live up to the futuristic image of 2015 predicted by the prophet Zemeckis, thanks to chemists from the University of California, Irvine (UCI) and the University of Western Australia. These heroes have come up with a way to “unboil” egg whites. Huzzah!

university_of_california_irvine_unboil_egg_white_protein_1zoom in

By “unboiling” the scientists meant they managed to return a protein in egg whites called lysozyme to its normal state after being boiled at 194ºF for 20 minutes. The scientists used a urea-based substance to melt the boiled egg white back into a liquid state. They then put the liquified egg white into a machine called a “vortex fluid device” to force the lysozymes into their “untangled, proper form.”

As you may have guessed, these geniuses didn’t merely set out to unboil eggs. UCI explains, “The ability to quickly and cheaply re-form common proteins from yeast or E. coli bacteria could potentially streamline protein manufacturing and make cancer treatments more affordable. Industrial cheese makers, farmers and others who use recombinant proteins could also achieve more bang for their buck.” That’s way better than a floating skateboard.

Moog Theremini: The Accessible Theremin

Ever wanted to play a theremin just so you could play the opening theme song from Star Trek? Most theremins are expensive and extremely difficult to master. On the other hand, this modern theremin by Moog is only about $300 and includes features to help you learn how to play it correctly.

Like the original, the Moog Theremini is played by waving your hand in proximity to the instrument’s antenna. But this new version provides visual feedback to help ensure your hand is placed correctly. It also offers assistive pitch quantization – which is fancy talk for saying you can’t play a bad note. This feature can be adjusted based on your skill level. It’s also capable of playing 32 different sounds – not just the traditional outer space whine we all know and love, but a wide variety of otherworldly sounds.

One Missouri Lawmaker Wants To Make Apple Pay Way Less Convenient

Apple Pay survives on convenience. “Don’t worry about getting out your wallet or fishing in your purse. Just point your iPhone 6 at this register thing and be on your way!” Anything that disrupt that simple flow would pretty much doom the technology, such as asking customers for physical IDs every time you buy something for instance.
