China Has Close To 1.3 Billion Mobile Phone Users

china-500millionWe do know that China is the country with the world’s highest population, and out of the billion plus people, it seems that there were 1.286 billion mobile phone users as of last month. This is a hefty amount for sure, and to think of the infrastructure that has to be in place in order to support that many number of users is mind boggling. Well, the above figure is an official number from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), and that would mean that whopping 94.5% of the country’s population have actually made use of a mobile phone at the end of 2014.

Needless to say, this is far more than the number of landline users, but then again, this is to be expected. After all, how many of you out there actually made use of a landline last year, as opposed to your mobile phone? I am referring to moments when you are at home and need to call someone, the phone at your office does not count. Over in China, just 18.3% of the population in made use of a landline last month, which is nearly 250 million people. Well, it would be interesting to see just how much higher the number of mobile phone users will be by next year.

Asus ZenFone 2 Could Arrive In 5” Variant As Well

zenfone-2-7At the recently concluded CES 2015, we managed to get hold of the Asus ZenFone 2, and spent a fair amount of time with it so that we could bring you a video on the smartphone as well as share our two cents’ worth. Well, that was a 5.5” model, and just in case you were wondering, it seems that there is a very real possibility of seeing a 5” ZenFone 2 model in the pipeline – at least according to Taiwanese website Sogi.

Basically, the 5” Asus ZenFone 2 could very well hit the market not too long after the 5.5” model is released. The latter is tipped to roll out worldwide from this March onward, and the 5.5” Asus ZenFone 2 is touted to arrive with variants of up to 4GB RAM, although that remains to be seen whether similar standards in terms of hardware specifications underneath the hood would apply to the 5” model. Apart from that, it would not be too far off the mark to have expectations of the smaller ZenFone 2 to be similar in terms of its aesthetics – other than the obvious difference in size, of course, as the larger 5.5” sibling.

As for pricing, that also remains to be seen – but logic dictates that it ought to be a wee bit more affordable as opposed to the 5.5″ ZenFone 2.

Alleged HTC One (M9) Photo Sample

htc-m9-sampleIt is without a doubt that the next round of flagship smartphone releases will be an extremely interesting one, with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S6, Sony Xperia Z4 and the HTC One (M9) duking it out with one another where the Android mobile operating system is concerned. In fact, there has been a fair number of HTC One (M9) rumors going around, and its camera has gotten plenty of speculation in recent times, too. It does seem as though the HTC One (M9) will offer a 20MP camera that is located at the back.

What you see were photos snapped by an alleged HTC employee using a couple of rather mysterious devices, simply known as the “HTC 0PJA10″ and the “HTC 0PJA13″. In the past, there were certain leaks as well as whispers on the grapevine that claimed that these two code names could be connected in one way or another to the HTC One (M9), although as with any other rumor out there, one should take this with a pinch of salt. After all, we should not rule out the possibility that there is also another rumored, beefed up version of the upcoming flagship that will be known as the HTC One (M9) Plus. Seems to be a page out of the iPhone 6 playbook, right?

Both Moto G Generations To Get Android 5.0 Lollipop Update In India

moto-g-lollipop-indiaMotorola India has tweeted that not one, but two generations of the Motorola Moto G would be on the receiving end of Android 5.0 Lollipop over in India. Of course, this is in addition to whispers of Android 5.0.2 Lollipop rolling out to Moto G (2014) owners that we carried more than a week ago. The tweet from Motorola India does inform that owners of the first as well as second generation Moto G to look out for the update notification to make an appearance on the display. In fact, the Motorola Moto G happened to be one of the first non-Nexus handsets to be on the receiving end of such an update, although there are several territories, such as in India, where Motorola would need to step in and do the necessary.

With the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop, the aged first generation Moto G would have just received a new lease of life at the very least. has to fill in the gaps. If you happen to live in India, fret not if your handset has not yet received the update notification. It seems that the update would be sent out in phases, so it would be best to make patience your top virtue at this point in time. When you are told to download the update, it would be in your best interest to make sure that you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network before proceeding, not to mention having made a back up of all your important files while ensuring that the battery on your device does carry a minimum of 50% charge.
