The Heartbreaking Story That Truly Moved Sheryl Sandberg

In a conversation with Arianna Huffington at the World Economic Forum, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg talked about what had moved her most while in Davos: the story of a mother who learned her son was a jihadist.

“I hadn’t really thought about the fact that these jihadists, who are committing such atrocities in the name of religious extremism, have mothers — and mothers who are grieving along with them,” said Sandberg. “That’s pretty powerful. To see these mothers interviewed and talking about the sorrow that their lives have become… I think every mother does the best they can, and no one thinks this will happen in their family.”

To hear more of the mother’s story and how she is now working to help women in similar situations, watch the full HuffPost Live clip in the video above.

Instant Hot Or Cold Pain Relief Wand treats aches and pains in double quick time

pain-relief-wandAs one grows older, one does not only get wiser (hopefully), but you would most probably notice that the vigor of your youth would have started to disappear – slowly and surely. No longer are you able to party all night long without suffering from a terrible hangover the next day, but your body might not be able to stand up to the strain of intense physical activity without aching all over the place when you wake up the next morning. The traditional method of treating aches and pains would be to make use of ice packs or microwavable heat packs, but those lose their temperature in a short while, making the $59.95 Instant Hot Or Cold Pain Relief Wand worth checking out.

It does work in a manner different to that of the Wide Coverage LED Pain Reliever, but there are added advantages to the Instant Hot Or Cold Pain Relief Wand. This will be a cordless handheld device for added freedom, and it will be able to instantly emit cold or heat to treat aching muscles and joint pain, thanks to its special dual thermal system that will cool to 43º F in one minute for inflamed joints or heats up to 104º F heat in order to relieve pain and help stimulate circulation. The wand can be comfortably held in one’s hand, and the user can apply pressure to hard-to-reach areas without any worry. The entire shebang will run on a couple of AA batteries, so I would strongly recommend making use of rechargeable batteries in the long run to save even more money.

Leatherman Tread Puts a Multitool on Your Wrist

A long time ago, I bought a Leatherman multitool that has a pouch you are supposed to attach to your belt. I found quickly that I don’t like things on my belt and stopped using it. It seems that every time I turn around at work, I need a tool of some sort and I am left searching for what I need. I still refuse to wear that multi-tool on my belt though. A new multitool that Leatherman is showing off might be perfect for folks like me who don’t like things on their belt.

The Leatherman Tread is a wearable tool that comes in either bracelet or watchband versions. The bracelet has 25 tools built in including a cutting hook, screwdrivers, box wrenches and a bottle opener. Each link has two or three different tools.

While I refuse to wear bracelets because this isn’t the ’80s, I would totally be down with the watchstrap version. Still, I would totally buy the bracelet version in black if it’s sized to allow me to put my Pebble smartwatch on it. A smartwatch with a multitool band sounds fantastic to me.

Pricing is expected to be somewhere around $150 to $200 so it’s not exactly cheap, and I’m assuming that doesn’t include the watch. Still, I want one pretty bad.

Knightlight is for Dark Knights

This night light is actually a knightlight. Get it? I do and it’s very pun-ny. This humorous and no doubt noble knightlight was created by Professor Theodosius O’Bliviate, a 15-year old crafter and prop maker. And it looks awesome.

It was made from a novelty radio he found in a junk shop. He took the speaker and electronics out, then put a 12-volt light in the opening for the speaker. He used a junk harmonica to cover up the slots for the volume and tuning knobs.

This knightlight would look great in any castle. I love all of the details. Not bad at all for a Professor of that age.

What You Can See From the Tallest Observation Decks On Earth

What You Can See From the Tallest Observation Decks On EarthIt’s only been a few years since humans could climb more than half a mile above the surface of the Earth without the help of jet fuel. It’s easy to forget that buildings that reach this high into the atmosphere are a new phenomenon in our world—at these heights, it’s more like aerospace engineering than architecture.

Say what you will about the actual beer, but Bud Light has made some pretty memorable Super Bowl commercials over the years.
