No, literally, polar bears smell other polar bears’ footprints to know if they can follow them to a suitable mate. How romantic!

Verizon Prepaid Plans Now Offer More Data

verizon sign

Prepaid cellular plans are popular with people who don’t want to be tied down to conventional service contract. The flexibility that these plans provide customers with can’t be found on postpaid connections. Major mobile carriers in the U.S. cater to both kinds of customers. Verizon’s prepaid plans have received an update, the carrier is now offering more data on its prepaid plans.

Previously the $45 prepaid plan on Verizon Wireless brought just 500MB of mobile data. Starting today subscribers of this monthly smartphone plan will receive 1GB of data at no extra charge. Those who enroll in Auto Pay will receive a bonus, Verizon will give them an additional 500MB of data every single month.

This $45 prepaid plan also includes unlimited talk, text and unlimited texting to Mexico and Canada. The international long distance add-on opens up calls to Mexico and Canada for just $10 per month on top of the plan.

Subscribers can customize their plans with data add-ons as well. For $5, $10 and $20 they can get 500MB, 1GB and 3GB of data with 30, 90 and 90 day expiration respectively. Those on the 1GB and 3GB plans don’t use up their data allotment can carry over remaining data for over 90 days so there’s no pressure to use up all of the mobile data within one month.

DirectX 12 Exclusive To Windows 10

windows10-free-upgrade

Yesterday at its much awaited event Microsoft made a few announcements that many of us were looking forward to. The consumer version of Windows 10 has finally been unveiled. Microsoft showed off the new features that it has been working on and all of the improvements that have been made to the OS. DirectX 12 was something that caught the attention of people interested in PC gaming and a report confirms that this API is exclusive to Windows 10.

What this means is that the DirectX 12 graphics API will not be available for any other iteration of the operating system except Windows 10. PC owners who are currently on Windows 7 or Windows 8 will have to upgrade their OS to take advantage of DirectX 12.

Fortunately Microsoft has tweaked its upgrade policy. Windows 10 is going to be a free upgrade for the first year only but it should give individual users ample time to jump up to the latest iteration of Microsoft’s operating system.

To take full advantage of DirectX 12 and all of the features that are included in it Rock Paper Shotgun reports that even Windows 10 users will have to upgrade their graphics cards, which are yet to be released, so that their machines can be fully compatible with the API. Though a few existing graphics cards will be able to take advantage of some of the improvements.

It is going to take a few months before Windows 10 is finally released, by that time the new graphics cards should have hit the market.

Back in November 2014 the BlackBerry Classic was released. This smartphone is seen as a successor to the successful BlackBerry Bold 9900 and is meant as a workhorse for professionals. It is currently available for purchase in black but the company did say last year that it will also be released in other colors. White is one colors that fans were looking out for the most. Today some white BlackBerry Classic pictures have surfaced online.

For the past few years BlackBerry has offered many of its devices in both black and white colors, so fans were already expecting this for the Classic. The BlackBerry Passport also comes in white.

Pictures of this device were first published online by MondoBlackBerry. It says that the white version of the Classic uses the same materials as its black counterpart, even though there were doubts initially that the white version would have a different material for the back cover which would have made quality and ergonomics across both models different.

This may not be the only color option that Classic customers get. BlackBerry CEO John Chen has previously said that this smartphone may also be released in blue and bronze variations, though it is unclear right now when these models will be released.

No word as yet from the company on when it will put up the white BlackBerry Classic for sale.
