Yotaphone 2 Hits The FCC

yotaphone2-fccWe have read about how the Yotaphone 2 is set to launch via a major US mobile carrier some time later this year, but as to which particular carrier that will be, it remains to be seen. Regardless, before anything can be introduced by mobile carriers, it would have to go through the paces over at the FCC first. Hence, the Yotaphone 2 is not exempt either, where this Android-powered handset that comes with a unique physical makeup, sporting a 5” color display on one side, while there is a 4.7” E Ink display on the other, will surely turn heads whenever you pull it out from your pocket.

After all, with both displays, you will be able to make use of it like a normal handset, and flip it over whenever you would like to indulge yourself in a little bit of e-book goodness. Not only that, imagine sending the likes of maps, photos, and other content to the black and white display, allowing them to remain visible (since E Ink displays take up so little juice), they can remain visible even when you decide to give the primary display a rest.

The new Yotaphone 2 will let you use the E Ink display for just about anything, which means you can make phone calls through it and surf the Internet, although I would not suggest the playback of videos. To recap, the Yotaphone 2 has the following hardware specifications – a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB of internal memory, a 2,500mAh battery, Wi-Fi, an 8MP shooter at the back and a 2.1MP shooter in front.

Nintendo Pulls Out From Brazil Market

nintendo-exits-brazilBrazil, the land of samba and the carnival, not to mention buffets that can satisfy the carnivore in us, looks set to be hit by a major blow where the world of video games is concerned. Nintendo looks set to pull out from the South American country’s video game market entirely. Apparently, Nintendo will stop selling its wares in Brazil, citing the country’s high tariffs and import fees on electronics and video games. While Brazil has its fair share of Nintendo fans, they are not enough to help keep the Japanese company profitable. However, it is not all doom and gloom, since Nintendo will not be pulling out from South America completely, just Brazil, so I guess folks living there who might want to get in on some Mario action will need to hop to a nearby neighbor and pick up a Nintendo console and/or title.

Consoles are super expensive in Brazil – the PS4 itself is not exempt from this phenomenon as it costs approximately $4,000 Brazilian Real (which is close to $1,500 USD), while the Xbox One is going for R$2,200 ($800 USD thereabouts), and all of these can be attributed to Brazil’s notoriously high import fees and taxes. Microsoft has managed to keep the costs down somewhat, thanks to a local manufacturing plant in Brazil itself, but Nintendo has so far refused to erect one in Brazil.

Here's Tina Fey And Amy Poehler Playing 'Would You Rather' At The Golden Globes

The secret to friendship is finally revealed!

During their Golden Globes opening monologue on Sunday, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey explained the key to their nearly “50-year” friendship: they never think the same man is attractive. In order to prove it, the pair played a game of “Would You Rather” using Hollywood hunks.

In the case of Colin Farrell vs. Colin Firth, Poehler would choose Farrell “all day,” while Fey has a different opinion:

Though the pair seems to avoid overlap in their choices of men, when it comes to Chris Pine vs. anyone, Fey says it best:

John Legend & Common Win Best Original Song At The 2015 Golden Globes For 'Glory'

The Golden Globe for Best Original Song was awarded to John Legend and Common for their song “Glory” from the film “Selma.”

In an exclusive video shared on NME, Common and John Legend discussed how the two decided to collaborate together, explaining that the song is meant to capture the spirit of fighting for change that is demonstrated in the film and the inequality that “still exists.”

“The first day I stepped on the set of ‘Selma’ I began to feel like this was bigger than a movie,” Common said during his acceptance speech. “As I got to know the people of the Civil Rights Movement I realized I am the hopeful black woman who was denied her right to vote. I am the caring white supporter killed on the front lines of freedom. I am the unarmed black kid who maybe needed a hand, but instead was given a bullet. I am the two fallen police officers murdered in the line of duty. ‘Selma’ has awakened my humanity.”

This is Common and John Legend’s first nomination and win, beating out Lorde’s “Yellow Flicker Beat” (from “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1”), Lana Del Rey’s “Big Eyes” (from “Big Eyes”), Patti Smith and Lenny Kaye’s “Mercy Is” (from “Noah”) and Sia and Greg Kurstin’s “Opportunity” (from “Annie”).

U2 and Danger Mouse’s “Ordinary Love” was crowned Best Original Song at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, from the soundtrack to the film “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.”

Benedict Cumberbatch Photobombs Meryl Streep And Margaret Cho At Golden Globes

Leave it to Benedict Cumberbatch to complete the first on-air photobomb at the 2015 Golden Globes.

The actor literally jumped into Meryl Streep’s photo-op with an in-disguise Margaret Cho during hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s North Korea bit.

And to make this entire moment better? Michael Keaton was the paparazzo.

Why History Will Be Very Kind To Obama

It is my view that history will be very generous with Barack Obama, who has compiled a broad record of accomplishment through three-quarters of his presidency.

Golden Globes Best Dressed 2015: See All The Stars Who Stole The Show

The Golden Globes red carpet is like a glorified fashion show, with stunning gowns and amazing heels galore. As the event that kicks off award show season, the pressure is most certainly on. Many celebs were up for the challenge and completely wowed us in some dresses for the ages. We were so distracted by all the beautiful looks, we almost forgot that the red carpet isn’t the entire show.

The theme of the night appeared to be yellow dresses, with A-listers like Naomi Watts, Jenna Dewan Tatum and Leslie Mann really standing out from the pack in the bright hue. Another consistent trend was strapless necklines, which were seen on Viola Davis, Reese Witherspoon and more, with stunning results.
