It would appear that our hatred of rats for the past several hundred years may be due to a bit of mistaken identity. Scientists this week have published a paper which suggests that it wasn’t so much rats that spread the bubonic plague across the planet, but gerbils. Your best buddy, the gerbil – the one you’ve got in a … Continue reading

If you build it, he will come – and then build a LEGO version of it. So goes the quote from the classic non-existent drama Brick of Dreams. Today that “he” is Instructables member W1ll14m. The alphanumeric boy wonder recently shared his progress on a 3D printer made of LEGO Technic and Mindstorms EV3 pieces.
Even if he’s already on his second version of his MOC, W1ll14m knows that it isn’t a practical 3D printer. It uses a glue gun and hot glue instead of an extruder and filament, and I’m pretty sure the Mindstorms EV3 program can’t process 3D files on its own. That said, W1ll14m wants to improve on his design. Besides, I’m sure he’s had a lot of fun making his own 3D printer.
Extrude to W1ll14m’s Instructables page to find out how he built the 3D printer.

Drone tech is exciting and full of potential, but few companies are focusing on tech that provides benefits drone users can enjoy now, without spending a fortune or managing an architectural firm or large-scale agricultural concern. Perceptiv Labs, a YC Winter 2015 cohort startup with a founding team out of Waterloo’s top-flight robotics engineering department, is offering high-flying… Read More
Even though Samsung has been endlessly teasing its upcoming flagship smartphones the company hasn’t confirmed what they will be called. Everybody is assuming that Samsung will go with Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, history dictates that much, but some reports have said that the curved screen variant might simply be called Galaxy S Edge. AT&T may have confirmed monikers of the upcoming flagship smartphones if what has been spotted on its website is true.
Like T-Mobile and Sprint, AT&T was one of the major U.S. carriers who posted the same teaser on their websites, the only change was that the teaser carrier each carrier’s own colors.
AT&T’s website contains the names “Galaxy S6″ and “Galaxy S6 Edge,” possibly confirming what we have thought about the monikers all along, or the carrier might simply be going on rumors that are floating around and may have punched in these names as placeholders. I should point out here that these names are only visible in the website’s source code and not visible on the page itself.
All three of the aforementioned carriers have published their pre-registration pages for Samsung Galaxy S6. Only Verizon is left out. Nevertheless all four major U.S. carriers will certainly offer the device once it goes on sale, some expect that Samsung will release the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in April.

HBO’s Game of Thrones is undoubtedly one of the most popular TV shows of all time, look no further than all of the piracy records that this show has set, and now that a new season is just around the corner HBO is gradually building hype for it. Recently the company released deleted scenes from season 4 of Game of Thrones and today it has released a blooper reel online, which is evidently more fun to watch than the deleted scenes.
Those who have watched the show will attest that Game of Thrones is anything but a funny show. It is filled with death, despair, betrayal and schemes, themes that have actively contributed to its popularity.
The Game of Thrones blooper reel also shows us our favorite actors out of character as they forget lines, have fun on the set, get surprised by random cats and trip over themselves.
Its hard to imagine Tywin Lannister actually having fun, but in the blooper reel you can see him break a piece off the Iron Throne and walk it off like nothing even happened.
Check out the Game of Thrones blooper real if you have a few minutes to kill, and get pumped for season 5, which will premiere on HBO on April 12th.

There is a lot of anticipation for all of the new flagship smartphones that will be unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2015 next week. The new smartphones from HTC and Samsung are the ones that many are most looking forward to. Many renders of the HTC One M9 have already offered us glimpses of the design and today we might be getting our best look yet at the next HTC flagship courtesy of a purported promotional material.
The picture has been leaked by @upleaks, which has established itself as a pretty solid source for such things, so the possibility exists that what we see here might really be true.
This picture shows that the HTC One M9’s design, at least from the front, isn’t all that different from its predecessor. We can also see that the Duo Camera no longer exists, and that the improved BoomSound speakers are placed where they’ve always been.
Some rumors had suggested that the black bar at the bottom, which only features the HTC branding, might be removed but in the picture we do see that black bar with the same branding.
Today’s leak only hints at the design and doesn’t reveal anything about the specifications. The HTC One M9 is expected to bring a 5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB RAM, 20.7 megapixel rear camera and a 2,900mAh battery.
HTC is going to officially unveil its next flagship smartphone on March 1st.

We picked up on an interview of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe President Jim Ryan yesterday in which he was noncommittal about the release of Driveclub PlayStation Plus edition. He declined to confirm anything about the status of this edition in the interview which made it seem like Driveclub PS Plus edition had been thrown in limbo. Sony has now issued a clarification and has reiterated its commitment to making a free version of Driveclub available to PS Plus subscribers.
It was first said almost two years ago that PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive a free edition of Driveclub. If they liked what they saw they could pay to upgrade to the full game.
However when the title was launched in October last year it was riddled with bugs and server side issues which forced the developer to postpone the launch of the PlayStation Plus edition.
Since then PS Plus subscribers have been waiting for a status update and yesterday’s interview didn’t make it seem like the free edition will be released at all.
Sony doesn’t want them to lose hope though. The company says that while it can’t provide an update regarding the timing for launch, it does confirm that “we are continually working on improving the server capacity to enable us to launch the PS Plus Edition as quickly as possible.”

Set between Halo 4 and 5, Halo: Nightfall is an episodic live-action TV series which was aired last year on the Xbox consoles. Initially the series was only released for Xbox One and Xbox 360 but Microsoft never denied that at some point Halo: Nightfall will be available for everyone even if they didn’t have the company’s console. It was reported recently that the series will be released as a collection next month and today Microsoft has formally confirmed that Halo: Nightfall will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on March 17th.
All five episodes of this series, which is directed by Sergio Mimica-Gezzan and produced by Ridley Scott, have been merged together in a feature-length film and will be released in this fashion on Blu-ray and DVD next month.
Microsoft has released a new trailer for this series as well apart from confirming today when the physical launch is going to take place. A digital version of the series will be released as well, also on March 17th. Microsoft hasn’t said if and when Halo: Nightfall will be made available to on-demand services.
The series tells the story of Jameson Locke who is a “legendary manhunter and agent with the Office of Naval Intelligence,” and it revolves around the events between Halo 4 and Halo 5.
