Kiss Me I’m Elvish Shirt Prevents St. Paddy’s Day Pinches

I was walking through the store with my daughter over the weekend and she went neigh hysterical when we passed a green shirt. I simply had to buy it because if I didn’t she would get pinched at school on “Irish Day” and if I didn’t buy it that means I wanted her to get pinched and hated her. Naturally, I gave in and bought the shirt, and then reminded her it was called St. Patrick’s Day. Irish Day is basically any day with beer.

Her subtle reminder that getting pinched sucks resonated with me. If you don’t want to get pinched or have someone at home you don’t hate, you need to buy them this shirt. It’s green and that’s all that really matters when it comes to not getting pinched on St. Patrick’s Day.

The fact that it says “Kiss Me I’m Elvish” is icing on the geeky cake. You can pick it up for $19.99(USD) at ThinkGeek or drop $30 on other clothing from the store and get it free while supplies last. If you don’t buy this for someone you love, thereby preventing pinches, it basically means you hate them.

Sony Xperia E4g Introduces LTE Connectivity

xperia-e4gAnother day, another spanking new handset to look forward to. It does look as though smartphones do arrive in a non-stop barrage, rather than the far more relaxed annual updates or refresh that we were used to when Nokia ruled the roost. Having said that, there we are with word that the Sony Xperia E4g has just been introduced, which will be a natural successor to the Sony Xperia E4, and as you can tell by its name alone, this would be a 4G capable handset thanks to the built-in LTE connectivity.

Similar to the 3G-only twin device, this particular model will arrive with a dual SIM option, too, if you so require something along the lines. Apart from that, new owners of the Sony Xperia E4g will also be able to enjoy a brand new quad-core 1.5GHz processor that offers a slight increase in performance from 1.3GHz. However, one ought to take note that battery capacity remains the same at 2,300mAh, although Sony has promised a couple of days’ of battery life.

As for the rest of the hardware specifications, they will remain the same with a 5” qHD display, Android 4.4 KitKat as the mobile operating system of choice, 1GB RAM, a 5MP shooter at the back with a 2MP front-facing camera. Expect the Sony Xperia E4g to arrive later this April for approximately €130 a pop. [Press Release]

BlackBerry Classic Verizon Launch Date Confirmed

blackberry-classic-verizon

We reported a couple of weeks back that Verizon might launch the BlackBerry Classic on February 26th. Apart from Big Red, AT&T is the only carrier that will sell this device, and it has already gone ahead with the launch. Verizon kept quiet about the date but word has come in today from BlackBerry itself. The company has confirmed the BlackBerry Classic Verizon launch date.

The BlackBerry Classic has a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 16GB onboard storage with microSD card support, a 3.5-inch HD display with Gorilla Glass 3, 2,500mAh battery and BlackBerry 10.3 OS.

It is meant for those hardcore BlackBerry users that just can’t live with the QWERTY keyboard and the iconic key belt which contains the trackpad, back button, BB key and buttons to pick up and reject calls.

BlackBerry Classic also comes with the Amazon Appstore preinstalled. Users can directly install Android apps from there, and BlackBerry World will be available to them as well.

The smartphone is compatible with Verizon’s 4G LTE network and is XLTE-Ready. Those who purchase it from Big Red on the MORE Everything plans will also receive 25GB free storage on Verizon Cloud.

BlackBerry Classic Verizon launch date is February 26th, customers will be able to purchase it online, and starting March 5th Verizon is going to have it in stores as well.

Customers will pay $99.99 if they go with a two year contract after a $50 mail-in rebate. BlackBerry Classic can also be purchased on the Verizon Edge installment plan.

Console OS Delivers Android To Several PCs

console-osEver wished that you had the ability to enjoy Android apps while you are using a PC instead of an Android-powered smartphone or tablet? Well, it does not take too much effort in order to enjoy just that, where one can always install Android-x86, which is a port of Google’s mobile operating system for computers that run on Intel or AMD processors, or perhaps take their chances with an Android emulator including the likes of Bluestacks or Genymotion. Right now, Console OS opens up another option, being an operating system that is based on Android 4.4 KitKat, although its “secret ingredients” would be having been optimized to run on computers that are powered by more recent Intel Core or Atom processors.

Android can be installed as a standalone operating system, or one can always configure it as a dual-boot option so that it can run alongside Windows. The developers of Console OS happened to have raised money for this particular project in a crowdfunding campaign in 2014, which is why Console OS Developer Release 1 is readily available for just about anyone to give the download a go – for free, too!

One installs Console OS using a USB flash drive, although do take into consideration that your machine needs a 64-bit UEFI with Secure Boot disabled.

Google No Longer Allows Sexually Explicit Content On Blogger

blogger-logo-main

Blogger is a popular, and free, blogging platform owned by Google. It was one of the few platforms that were used for hosting sexually explicit content since Google didn’t stop users from doing so, Tumblr is another popular venue for such content, but now Google is changing its position. Starting next month the company will no longer allow sexually explicit content on websites that are hosted on Blogger.

Google has updated a support page for Blogger which now reads that “starting March 23, 2015, you won’t be able to publicly share images and video that are sexually explicit or show graphic nudity on Blogger.”

According to reports Blogger users were sent emails that notified them of this change. Google is not going to delete websites that host such content when the deadline arrives next month however after March 23rd all of those websites will be made private.

Those who want to make their websites public again will first have to delete content that Google will no longer allow on Blogger. The company does point out any new blogs created after March 23rd may automatically be deleted should they not adhere to this rule.

Google also makes a clarification: “We’ll still allow nudity if the content offers a substantial public benefit, for example in artistic, educational, documentary, or scientific contexts.”

The company itself will be the judge of that.

Guitar Hero For PlayStation 4 And Xbox One Reportedly Being Developed

guitar-hero-ps4-xbox-one

Earlier this week we reported that a new Rock Band title is possibly under development and thus it could land on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at some point later this year. Now there’s a report which claims a new Guitar Hero title is being developed which would also put this popular franchise on the latest consoles from Sony and Microsoft. Apparently the new title will be announced at the E3 conference this year.

Kotaku claims to have heard from two different sources that a new Guitar Hero game is being developed for next-generation consoles, and it says that the title will take “a more realistic” approach than previous titles in this franchise. New guitar peripherals are also said to be in development.

According to the report this title might be unveiled at E3 and a release could take place by the end of 2015. The previous title in this franchise, Warriors of Rock, was released back in September 2010.

It isn’t known for sure right now which studio is developing the new title, there is speculation that it might be one of Activision’s studios on the West Coast, which would mean that Vicarious Visions would have nothing to do with it.

When contacted by the scribe for a comment on the possible revival of this beloved music game franchise an Activision spokesperson pointed out that they don’t comment on rumor or speculation.
