In this release of the game Fable Legends, creators at Lionhead have suggested that you’ll be able to have free access to the entire game. This is one of three “commitments” the gaming studio says … Continue reading

Google Might Make An Investment In Jawbone

jawbone-up-family

Jawbone is widely known for its UP products, a line of fitness trackers, it has already captured the attention of many people around the world who opened their wallets to pay for its products and now it appears that Google is looking into the company. Citing several sources close to the situation a report from Re/code suggests that Google is looking to make an investment in Jawbone.

According to the report this “strategic investment” doesn’t mean that Google is going to acquire the company. It is believed that Google doesn’t want to completely buy this company rather it is just interested in making an investment.

Jawbone is reportedly talking with other investors as well so Google is not the only company might put money in this company. The report suggests that so far both Google and Jawbone are not in agreement over a potential investment, the size and implied valuation of which is not clear, talks are said to in a preliminary stage at this point in time.

Jawbone’s recent funding efforts seek to close a $250 million investment round with the startup pegging its value north of $3 billion.

Google has not given a response, so there’s no confirmation or denial from the company as yet, the possibility exists that talks might fall through and Google may end up not putting money in Jawbone at all.

Galaxy S6 Edge Display Reportedly Not As Useful As Its Note Edge Counterpart

galaxy-note-edge-official-14

In just two days Samsung is going to formally unveil the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Ever since the company unveiled Galaxy Note Edge last year it was rumored that a similar version will also be released with the next Galaxy S flagship. Sure enough all rumors and leaks point to this possibility but a new report out of Korea claims that the curved Edge display on this Galaxy S6 variant isn’t going to be as useful as its Galaxy Note Edge counterpart.

One thing that has become evident from the recently leaked pictures of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge is that the curved display isn’t as curved as it is on the Galaxy Note Edge. One of the reasons for this could be the fact that Galaxy Note Edge has a larger display, 5.6-inch, whereas the Galaxy S6 is only expected to come in at 5.1-inch.

Since the display isn’t as curved as many of us would have expected, Business Korea reports that it would be difficult to use this side panel due to the lower screen area, which means that it might not display message alarm or information like users can see on Galaxy Note Edge.

So what will the Galaxy S6 Edge be good for? Samsung will reportedly allow some software features to take advantage of the curved display, but if this report is to be believed then we shouldn’t expect it to be as useful as the Galaxy Note Edge.

Apple Watch Event Confirmed For March 9th

apple-watch-event

Even though the Apple Watch was unveiled last year the company kept some of the crucial details to itself. Only recently did CEO Tim Cook reveal that shipments of this new product are going to begin in April 2015. We still don’t know the final pricing for Apple’s first wearable device and might still be in the dark about some of its features. The company is going to shed more light on all this at its Apple Watch event which has been confirmed today. The event takes place on March 9th in San Francisco.

Therefore it is highly likely that at this event Apple will finally reveal the final pricing for Apple Watch, possibly even for the Apple Watch Edition models, which many estimate could cost more than $5,000.

Apple today sent out invites to the media for an event titled “Spring forward,” the event is scheduled for March 9th and will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California.

While many of us would like a greater look at the watch’s features I’m sure that almost everybody that’s waiting for this product to arrive will be curious about the release date. Apple just might end our curiosity once and for all at this event.

Jawbone UP3 Release Date Still Uncertain

jawbone-up3

In November last year Jawbone announced the third generation model of its popular UP fitness tracker. Despite the fact that many months have passed since this product was announced Jawbone is yet to ship this product. In fact the company does not have a Jawbone UP3 release date to share at this point in time due to the fact that it is facing manufacturing issues.

When the UP3 was announced last year Jawbone initially said that it would begin shipments by Christmas. That’s when the first delay happened with the release date being pushed into 2015.

A spokesperson for the company tells TechCrunch that its having troubles maintaining quality when manufacturing is scaled up at a level that would enable Jawbone to bring UP3 to the market. The units that it manufactures during small test runs work just fine.

The spokesperson said that quality is a major priority for the company and it wants to nail it before UP3 is shipped to the public. Jawbone hopes to announce a ship date soon.

Interested customers can still pre-order the Jawbone UP3 today even though the product page doesn’t provide a proper release date. Those who do pre-order, or have already done so, can have their money refunded at any time. Jawbone is providing this option to customers who might change their mind about purchasing the UP3.

China Bans Apple, Cisco And Other Companies For State Purchases

china-flag

It was first reported in August last year that China may have banned Apple products for state purchases. The country didn’t provide an official explanation at that time and it was believed that China made this move following the revelations of widespread electronic spying by the NSA. A new report from Reuters reveals that China has indeed banned Apple, Cisco and other U.S. tech companies so their products can’t be purchased for state business.

Reuters has obtained a list of the technology vendors approved by China’s central government. The list doesn’t contain Apple, Cisco, McAfee and Citrix Systems.

This isn’t the first time that China has dropped the banhammer on technology products by U.S. companies. In 2014 the government banned its offices from purchasing the latest version of Windows, even security software from Kaspersky Lab and Symantec was banned.

There are two popular theories on why China might be doing this. Some believe the country really does want to shield itself from electronic spying by Western agencies, which would make perfect sense, others argue that China is only doing this to prop up local manufacturers by eliminating competition from U.S. tech companies.

This list doesn’t apply to China’s military, which has its own system of procurement approval, or state-owned enterprises. Local governments in the country don’t follow this list as well.

Microsoft Confirms Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious

We picked up on a report yesterday which pointed towards the possibility that a DLC inspired by the popular Fast & Furious movie franchise might be released soon for Forza Horizon 2. Sure enough Microsoft has now confirmed that this is going to happen. Xbox and Universal Partnerships & Licensing have come together to bring this experience exclusively to Microsoft’s console owners.

An important clarification has been issued by Microsoft. You don’t need to own Forza Horizon 2 to take advantage of this experience. Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious is actually a standalone, open-world expansion, which will put you behind the wheel of 11 cars seen in the Fast & Furious films, including some that you will see in the upcoming Furious 7 movie.

Players will be recruited by Tej Parker, a character in the movie franchise played by Chris “Ludacris” Bridges who also voices the character in this expansion, to source cars for the Fast & Furious crew’s next mission.

As a result you will be put through multiple car challenges in the south of France, a setting that’s inspired by the movies and Forza’s gameplay. As game challenges are completed more cars will be unlocked which you can then drive in the open world.

The expansion will be available for download on Xbox One and Xbox 360 from March 27th. It will be free until April 10th after which players will have to pay $10 to download it. Those who download during the two week window will keep it for free.
