Hotel builds giant Godzilla, puts guests in a room near him

If you’ve ever visited Shinjuku and thought to yourself that Godzilla would fit right in with all those towering buildings, you were right, and in the near future you’ll be able to find him there — from the shoulders up, at least. This is thanks to Hotel Gracery, a hotel above Toho Cinema (hence the mythical monster focus), which is … Continue reading

Full-scale Hyperloop track planned for California launch in 2016

hyperloop-600x315Elon Musk’s Hyperloop concept is exciting for California, and possibly the country. Via a network of tubes, we’ll potentially fly around the country feet off the ground, rifling past farmland at breakneck speeds. Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, a startup that wants to bring Musk’s vision to reality, has secured land for a Hyperloop test track. In the town of Quay Valley … Continue reading

Neurio adds hard-wired brain to your connected home

Neurio_SensorYour home and the ‘Internet of Things’ is an interesting concept, but there are so many devices out there aiming to help you do similar things. It’s maddening. LEGO Atari 2600 & TV Diorama: My Old Basement

The latest custom LEGO set from professional builder Chris “Powerpig” McVeigh is for 80s kids. It has an Atari 2600, a TV, a few toys and trinkets and most of all a drab orange and brown rug. You can practically feel the fibers under your feet, eternally damp from sweat and spilled drinks.

Man I forgot TV screens used to bulge like that. You can pre-order the My Old Basement set for $90 (USD). If you already have one of Chris’ My First TV ’80s sets, you can save by getting just the diorama’s base. Chris says the toys and household objects included in the set may vary depending on supply. As always Chris will also upload the set’s building guide on his website.

T-Mobile US Delivers Denim Update For Lumia 925

nokia-lumia-925-review-23Time surely passes us by all too quickly, and here we are, three months down the road after Microsoft made an announcement concerning the Lumia Denim update in early September last year. Despite the announcement, there was nary a single handset that picked up this particular update, never mind the fact that the company did outline plans to complete its rollout before Christmas of 2014 was over. Well, in real life, things were rather different since the rollout began only a week before Christmas, although it is nice to know that the pace has been picked up ever since. It seems that the Denim update has finally made its way over to the Lumia 925 in the US, where owners of the device who are rocking to T-Mobile have started to receive it.

With the Denim update running on your Lumia 925, this would mean that the operating system has been given a bump up to version 14226, while there is also a minor firmware increase from 1439 to 1451.

T-Mobile US did make mention earlier this month, citing that the Lumia 925 will receive a Denim update in due time, which is also set to happen on the Lumia 521 as well, which is one of the more affordable Windows Phone handset s out there. Better late than never! [Press Release]

Windows 7 ISO Download Now Available

windows7topsLong time Windows users would have known by now that trying to fix issues involving Windows, or to perform a simple reinstall can end up as a real annoying experience, especially when it comes to making use of the install DVD – which some machines were sold without one of these bad boys. Thankfully, Microsoft is, at long last, making available a Windows 7 ISO for download.

This is certainly a more than welcome solution to what seems to be a long standing problem, and Microsoft has made it all the more easy for the masses to download Windows 7 directly from their site. Needless to say, this is not a free version, since you will first need your license key before you are able to authenticate the copy, but it is a step forward in the direction to say the very least. Do take note, however, that should your device arrive with an OEM volume license, you might end up running into a brick wall. Basically, those of you out there who are still able to access your license, this is a perfectly legal method for downloading a Windows 7 ISO that could come handy down the road, as you can never quite tell just when you might need it.

Microsoft Xbox Live Gold 12-Month Membership Going For $39.99

xbox-live-gold-free-515x287Things in life tend to be divided into two segments – one of them would fall under the “must have” category which would be a need, while the rest can be said to be wants. Having said that, the Xbox Live Gold membership used to be something that could be considered to be coveted among gamers on the console front, but it certainly has lost its popularity in recent times, as Microsoft made amendments to its policies in June last year in order to enable console owners to run third-party apps like Netflix, BBC iPlayer or YouTube without first having to be a Gold member.

Well, it seems that those who enjoy more than a spot of online multiplayer gaming would find that Xbox Live Gold is indispensable. Now would be a good time to jump on board if you haven’t yet done so already, taking into consideration that membership will now include free and discounted games every single month – not only on the Xbox One but Xbox 360 as well, and to sweeten the deal, the Xbox Live Gold membership will now come with a 33% discount from the normal price.

This means the 12-month Xbox Live Gold membership will retail for a mere $39.99, which will free up $20 for you to spend on something else – a game, perhaps?
