E FUN announces the Nextbook Ares 11

nextbook-ares-11It was just yesterday that we brought you word on how E FUN actually revealed a quartet of upcoming tablets under the Nextbook umbrella, and being the fifth largest tablet supplier in the U.S., it seems that the company has taken the necessary steps to announce the availability of its very first Android 2-in-1 device, which will be known as the Nextbook Ares 11. Somehow, the name Ares resonates with me, as I am a huge fan of the God of War series, and the Nextbook Ares 11 sure is a “fighter” of a device, especially when you take into account that this 11.6″ tablet will come with a detachable keyboard.

Sure, the Nextbook Ares 11 will be larger compared to a regular tablet, but on the other hand, it happens to be smaller than a laptop, which is a good thing, especially when you need to get work done while traveling and do not want to tote around something that is heavy. In fact, this particularly versatile 2-in-1 device is said to bring the best of both worlds together into one, where folks who are looking for entertainment would fall in love with its portability and multitude of apps, whereas it’s ease of use will prove convenient for work.

The Nextbook Ares 11 can be picked up from Walmart stores as well as Walmart.com for $197 a pop if you are interested. Hardware specifications include a detachable backlit keyboard, where it will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop with Google Play, a pair of standard 2.0 USB ports (would have been nice to see USB 3.0 thrown into the mix of course), a 1366 x 768 IPS capacitive touch screen display, a quad-core Intel Atom Z3735F Processor (X86, 1.8GHz), 1GB DDR3L system memory, 64GB of onboard storage memory that can be further expanded by another 64GB thanks to the microSD memory card slot, Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, 2.0 megapixel front and rear cameras, miniHDMI and microUSB ports, and a 9,000mAh internal rechargeable battery that will help to keep it running with minimum fuss.

Rocketeer Legacy Action Figure Won’t Work for Nazis

Way back in the early ’90s a movie called The Rocketeer hit theaters. It was really cool and followed the story of a stunt pilot named Cliff Secord as he found and learned to fly an awesome rocket pack. As it turns out all you really need to fly a jetpack safely is a cool helmet with a fin on top and a leather jacket.

If you are a fan of that flick, check out this action figure. It sort of looks like Billy Campbell from the movie and comes with two heads. One head has the gold helmet on and the other has no helmet. The rocket pack is also removable.

The jacket also comes with a removable flap to cover the rocket pack straps. You even get an old-fashioned gun that fits in his hand. The action figure is on ThinkGeek right now for $19.99(USD).

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Is The New Hotness

scaled-5328 The Edge Case This review is primarily about the S6 Edge. Out of the two phones released by Samsung at MWC the Edge most deserves to be called a flagship – a device that shows the best of what the company has to offer. While the “standard” S6 is solid, usable, and handsome, I think the Edge is the real winner here. Why? First off the design is unique and unique to Samsung. It… Read More

T-Mobile Accepting Pre-Orders For Gold Galaxy S6 And Galaxy S6 Edge

t-mobile logo 2

When T-Mobile started taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge it was only offering the devices in black and white colors. The carrier did say that the gold color will arrive but it didn’t specify when customers will be able to place an order for it. Today T-Mobile cleared things up. It is now accepting pre-orders for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in gold color. Keep in mind though that only one storage option is available in color right now.

Customers looking to purchase a Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge from T-Mobile in gold color will only be able to get the 64GB storage option right now. The carrier will offer the 32GB and 128GB model but currently they are listed as “coming soon.” T-Mobile has not yet confirmed when they will be available.

Like all other units T-Mobile will ship the gold Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge on April 10th, which is Samsung’s official release date for its new flagship smartphones.

However some of the carrier’s customers have already received their units so who knows, people who order the gold color might get lucky as well.

There’s no change in pricing for this particular model. Pre-orders can be placed right away at T-Mobile’s online store.

OnePlus DR-1 Drone Will Land Next Month

one-plus-dr1-drone

OnePlus has recently been building hype about a new product that it’s going to unveil in the very near future. While we wait on the OnePlus Two smartphone to arrive it appears that the company has a totally different product for us next month. Whispers about a drone have already been circulating online and now there’s word from the company that the OnePlus DR-1 drone will land on its online store in April.

The bit about the drone was actually confirmed by OnePlus CEO Carl Pei during a recent AMA session on reddit. He posted a screenshot which more or less confirmed that OnePlus is actually working on a drone.

OnePlus, which most of know is great at building hype for its products, says that the drone is going to be a game changer. It remains to be seen though how the DR-1 disrupts the drone arena which is already a battleground for many contenders including but not limited to DJI and Parrot.

In a tweet sent out today the company confirmed that the DR-1 is “flying” into its store next month. So far it hasn’t revealed technical details about this drone and hasn’t even shared the design.

We’ll anxiously be waiting to see, like many others, just how good or bad the OnePlus drone turns out to be.

My Passport X Portable Hard Drive Targets Gamers

mypassport-xGamers are a discerning bunch, especially when it comes to the kind of hardware that they use. Having said that, Western Digital has just announced the My Passport X portable hard drive which will target gamers, and them being a very demanding market, you can be sure that the My Passport X is no slouch when it comes to performance. In fact, the My Passport X, when connected to the Xbox One or a PC, will deliver 2TB of much-needed storage space so that gamers will not have headaches trying to stash away a fair number of titles. This would also do away with the need to delete previously purchased games.

Tony Tate, vice president and general manager of WD’s Content Solutions unit, shared, “Game file sizes are expanding to 36 GB per game and upwards, and are projected to continue growing. Console gamers are able to store on average only 10 games on the 365 GB out of 500 GB that is available on the onboard hard drive. The My Passport X portable drive delivers a fast and easy way to expand capacity and enables an expanded library of games on the go.”

With USB 3.0 thrown into the mix, users can access and save files on the My Passport X portable hard drive without having to wait too long unlike before, and with a stylish and compact design, it has also been constructed to come with added durability and shock tolerance. One will have to fork out $139.99 for the My Passport X 2TB portable hard drive. [Press Release]
