Hanging Out in Hanging Lake (Colorado Rocky Mountains)

While living in Colorado a few years ago, a friend took me on a hike to Hanging Lake in Glenwood Springs. She mentioned that it was an easy hike, and it was in fact moderate with rocks acting as steps much of the way. The added bonus was the river that flowed alongside the trail the entire ascent. Since both my friend and I are avid photographers, it took us a little longer to do the hike than it probably would most people because with the flowing river, canyon walls and wildlife running about, the photo-ops were abundant, and we took advantage of every single one.

We passed people ranging from athletes running up the one mile ascent to a cluster of nuns on a casual climb.

The reward of climbing up through the canyon was when it broke out into the breathtaking view of Hanging Lake. One can’t help but pause and take in the unexpected waterfalls and the pristine lake reflecting the sky, canyons and trees above. Who would think that at the top of a canyon sits this magical place? I never would have. Thankfully, my friend knew of it and shared this wondrous place with me.

'Optimistic' Predictions From 1950 That Warned of the Coming Dystopia

It’s so easy for us to look back at old predictions for the future and see them as quaint or overly optimistic. But when we take a closer look—when we stop to really process what’s going on in these predictions—we often find that they weren’t merely silly or naive. They were warning of the horrific, dystopian future to come.

Brik Case Turns MacBooks into Expensive LEGO Baseplates

We’ve seen LEGO-compatible iPhone cases, so why not one for Apple’s laptops as well? The Brik Case is compatible with MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models released in 2013 or later. It works not just with LEGO but with Mega Bloks, PixelBlocks, KRE-O or K’NEX pieces as well.

Maker Jolt Team says its case works best with 1×1 bricks. Fortunately the case comes with 100 generic 1×1 bricks, so all you’ll need is a bit of creativity and you’re good to go.

Pledge at least $30 (USD) on Kickstarter to receive a Brik Case as a reward.

Asus Zenfone 3 Set To Feature A Fingerprint Sensor

asus-logoIt does seem as though Asus is about to jump aboard the bandwagon for the next big thing when it comes to smartphone technology, and that would be the incorporation of a fingerprint sensor. Well, Apple can more or less be credited for bringing this particular feature back under the spotlight thanks to the release of their iPhone 5s, and other manufacturers, too, would have liked to hop on board that particular bandwagon not too long after. Asus is one of them, where at a press conference in Beijing recently for the launch of the current Zenfone 2 in China, Asus CEO Jerry Shen did mention that the upcoming Zenfone 3 will boast of a fingerprint reader.

Taking into consideration that it might actually be as long as an entire year before the Zenfone 3 hits the market, it might also be possible to see this particular feature arrive in an updated Zenfone 2 model some time later this year, who knows? I am quite sure that there will be fans as well as detractors to the presence of a fingerprint sensor on a handset, where it does deliver a safer and quicker unlocking process, not to mention secure folders as well as the logging in of websites.
