I’m not sure that CineFix included all the most visually awesome aerial dogfight scenes in their top 10 video for best dogfights of all time, but I do know that it’s always fun as hell to see two flying killer bird machines try to take down each other in an incredible array of skill, weaponry, quick reflexes and oh yeah, masterful film editing.
If you’re over the age of thirty, you’re a musical dinosaur. You probably don’t understand the garbage those “damn kids” are listening to and you don’t want to. You’re not cool. When did this happen? Spotify may have just figured it out.
Perhaps you’ve heard a thing or two about “Valve” and “Skyrim” and “mods” over the past few days. What does it all mean? The company that built the world’s most successful game store proposed an app store to pay people for remixing virtual worlds—and 100,000 angry internet denizens just shot down that idea.

We have to admit that the “OK Google” feature on Android has to be one of the coolest features on the platform. It’s quick and responsive and seems to be able to understand what we want when we give it commands, but oddly enough it seems that the Samsung Galaxy S6 has decided to omit the feature.
Now we should point out that the feature is still there, but it is only accessible if you were to use it from within the Google search app which kind of defeats the whole point to begin with. This is according to user reports from all around the world where it has been noted that the feature is missing from both the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge.
It seems initially the feature was available and working as intended at the launch of the phone, but it was only recently that it was removed/disabled much to the surprise of everyone involved. It isn’t clear as to why or who removed it, but there is a good chance that Samsung is probably involved as Google Now essentially clashes with the company’s S-Voice feature.
At the same time there are other theories, one of which claims that it might have to do with battery life optimization which was included in the latest Samsung update. Another theory is that it might have to do with the handset’s 64-bit Exynos chipset. In any case we can’t be sure if Samsung/Google will return the feature in the future, but in the meantime can any Galaxy S6/S6 Edge owners confirm this?

Autocorrect on smartphones usually deals with correcting typos as opposed to grammatical mistakes. This is probably because everyone types/talks differently and trying to correct everyone to the proper grammar might prove to be a monumental task. However it seems that this is something that SwiftKey wants to take on in their latest Clarity keyboard.
The Clarity keyboard is past of SwiftKey’s “Greenhouse” endeavor which is basically an experimental arm of the company where they take on projects that may or may not actually be released to the masses in the future. Clarity would be the first of its many experiments and what the keyboard tries to do is take into context what you’re trying to say before correcting it.
For example typing, “I will do this on the future,” would autocorrected to, “I will do this in the future,” which is correct. Normal keyboards might ignore the first sentence as there are no typos, but with Clarity it will detect that there is a grammatical mistake and will fix it for you. Users who are either trying to type that way on purpose or if there is slang involved can just press backspace to revert back to the original text.
So far it seems that this is the extent of Clarity and if you’d like to learn more about the keyboard and take it for a spin, which is currently in beta by the way, then head on over to SwiftKey’s Greenhouse page for the details.

At the start of the month before the launch of the Apple Watch, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook revealed that over a 1,000 apps had been submitted for the Apple Watch, although like we noted at that time, having an app submitted does not mean that it will be approved and put up for sale/download as there are certain requirements that developers have to meet.
So now with the Apple Watch having been launched, how many apps are there at this point in time? Speaking during Apple’s earnings conference call, Cook revealed that the number has since jumped to a whopping 3,500 apps which have been specifically designed for the Apple Watch in mind.
This growth is a much speedier one compared to the iPhone and iPad which launched with 500 and 1,000 apps respectively. Cook stated during the call that Apple only expected and aimed to beat it by a slight margin but were surprised when the more than tripled their estimates. “And we thought it would be great if we were able to do that by a little bit, and as I’ve mentioned before, we now have over 3,500 apps in the App Store for the Watch.”
That being said developing for the Apple Watch has not proved easy as for the first-gen device, Apple has restricted access to a lot of its hardware functions, and only select developers were given access to more features. Presumably like in the case of iOS, Apple will eventually start opening its doors to more features and we will start seeing more creative and unique apps for the device.

Last week Valve launched a new feature on Steam that allowed modders to sell their creations. This led to some controversy as some believed that mods should remain as it is which is largely donation-based. Valve’s Gabe Newell then took to Reddit to state that the company would pull the feature if they deemed it was bad for the community.
We assumed this meant that maybe they would let it run for a couple of weeks or months to see how things would pan out. but that did not happen as Valve has officially pulled the plug on the payments feature for its mods. It seems the issue here has to do with Valve underestimating the differences between the communities based around their own games, like Half-Life, Team Fortress, Counter-Strike, and etc., versus that of communities built around other developers’ games, like Skyrim which has it own dedicated modding community.
According to a statement released by Valve, “We’ve done this because it’s clear we didn’t understand exactly what we were doing. We’ve been shipping many features over the years aimed at allowing community creators to receive a share of the rewards, and in the past, they’ve been received well. It’s obvious now that this case is different.”
Is this disappointing? Slightly, as we would have loved to see how it panned out in the future once things stabilized, but with copyright issues such as other modders using assets from other mods without permission, it could have ended up pretty messy.

While BlackBerry might not necessarily be equated with being cool these days, there was a point in time when their handsets were selling like hotcakes, largely thanks to its keyboard design which was surprisingly comfortable to use despite its size, and the fact that BBM offered a form of exclusiveness that other platforms could not get in on.
However these days it’s an entirely different story but it seems that the company is working on bringing “cool” back. Speaking at the Milken Institute Global Conference, BlackBerry’s CEO John Chen revealed that the company has “something brewing” that would allow them to make the next “cool” phone.
Speaking to CNBC, Chen was quoted as saying, “I’m not at liberty to tell you what we’re doing beyond the Amazon apps, but we’re working hard at it … something [is] brewing. It’s really about creating the next cool phones, so to speak. It will evolve. There are opportunities to regain the market share.”
That being said the company is currently focusing more on the enterprise market and working on improving its security features, so we have to wonder what exactly does the company have up their sleeves that would make the general population start viewing them as being “cool” once again. Not to mention they’d have to deal with the likes of flagships from both Samsung and Apple, both of which are currently dominating the consumer market. In any case it should be pretty exciting so stay tuned for more updates in the future.

The upside to owning a gaming PC and playing games on the PC is that the graphics quality of the game will depend on the hardware of your PC. If you have a high-end rig you can bump the resolution to 4K and still enjoy a buttery-smooth 60fps, but on console it will have to depend on the hardware used by the console maker, as well as how well developers optimize their game for said hardware.
That being said it’s not all bad news. For gamers who are looking forward to Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and was wondering how it would run on their PlayStation 4, you will be pleased to learn that according to the developer, the game will run at a Full HD 1080p resolution on the PS4 while holding a 60fps framerate, although given that the game is still in development these numbers might change later, but hopefully it won’t.
As for Microsoft’s Xbox One, Treyarch did not provide any numbers just yet, but given that last year’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare only managed to switch between 900p and 1080p (depending on the intensity of the fight), we can only assume that Black Ops 3 will at the very least have a 900p resolution, but maybe Treyarch will surprise us all.
In the meantime for those wondering when the game will be released, it has been recently reported that the game has been pegged for a 6th of November 2015 launch so gamers who are interested should mark that down on their calendars.
