Reaction videos are all the rage anymore: we’ve seen videos of kids reacting to old cameras and gaming systems, older folks reacting to Google Glass, and a bunch between. The newest reaction video again goes with the older folks among us, and eschews hardware for a dose of video game fun. Mortal Kombat X, that is. These perhaps unsuspecting gents … Continue reading

The Flyte – a levitating light that blends old and new aesthetics

Flyte Levitating light

When you decorate your home, you want to choose things that will inspire you to think outside the box, fit your aesthetic, and be multi-functional. It’s not necessary to have every single item be five things in one, but it is nice to have the option. If you want something that is going to wow guests, look awesome, and be functional for your everyday life, you should know that sort of item is going to cost you a pretty penny.

The Flyte Levitating Light is one such item, being a lamp and a wireless charging dock. The most awesome part is that the light bulb for this doesn’t just illuminate a room, it floats in midair. Sitting about a half inch above a wooden base of either ash, oak, or walnut, will be a soft white LED-filled light bulb. The aesthetics are a pleasant blend of antique and modern. The bulb is shatter-proof, and as it sits above the base, uses induction to stay alight. It can be removed so that phones which are able to be charged wirelessly can be put on for a power up.

The base does need to be plugged in for this to do anything, so it will need to be near an outlet. This is going to cost you $249-549 depending on how fancy of a base you want. This would be an excellent reading light to put by your bed so you can switch between light and charging your phone at night. Of course, it would also be lovely to have in the living room so you can charge up on a whim during the day, but still have access to some illumination if you want it in the evening.

R2-D2 Coffee Table/Pinball Machine

This amazing R2-D2 coffee table features the guts from a Star Wars pinball machine from 1991. It features external lights and R2 sound effects too. There’s also a light that resembles Artoo’s holographic projector.

Basically it is the best coffee table ever. It was made by ALTAR Furniture, a company that specializes in taking old pinball machines and putting them inside coffee tables. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’s playable any more, but it still looks amazing.

Sadly, it is outside of my budget at $13,000(USD). I can only afford the R5-D4 unit with the bad motivator. Damn Jawas.

If you have the cash, this is obviously the droid you have been looking for.

Watch Dogs 2 Reportedly In The Pipeline

watch dogs

Watch Dogs was a new Ubisoft IP that arrived last year, it’s an open-world adventure and action game that’s set in Chicago. The title did quite well when it arrived and since then there has been talk of a sequel particularly after it became evident that there will be no further DLC expansions. While Ubisoft is yet to formally confirm Watch Dogs 2 the title was listed briefly on a Ubisoft employee’s LinkedIn account leading to speculation about whether or not its in the pipeline.

The Watch Dogs 2 listing was spotted on Julien Risse’s LinkedIn profile, Risse works at Ubisoft Paris and lists the original Watch Dogs and Bad Blood DLC as previous projects.

There have been hints at a potential sequel but Ubisoft has never outright confirmed if and when Watch Dogs 2 will be made public. Even after this snafu the developer has not yet released a statement to clear things up. The reference to Watch Dogs 2 has since been removed from Risse’s profile.

Rumors have already been circulating about Watch Dogs 2 and some believe that the next title might actually be set in a city outside the United States, though once again there has been no official confirmation and it’s just pure speculation.

Fans of the first title will certainly be excited at the prospect of a sequel, perhaps we might hear something about it later this year.

P.T. Pulled From PlayStation Store But It Will Remain Accessible To Some

silent hills

We first got word earlier this week that the Silent Hills Playable Teaser or P.T. for PlayStation 4 was being removed from the PlayStation Store. It was then confirmed by Konami that Silent Hills has been cancelled so there’s no need to keep P.T. around any longer. P.T. has been pulled from the PlayStation Store so if you didn’t download it before you won’t be able to get it now, however the teaser will remain accessible to some.

As it turns out if you added P.T. to your PlayStation Network account before it was taken down by Konami you will be able to re-download it even if you deleted the teaser after trying it once.

Those who installed and deleted the teaser before it was pulled from the PlayStation Store only need to go through to the PS4 Library and access the game page to re-download it. Once its downloaded the teaser is fully playable as before.

Unfortunately there’s no recourse for people who didn’t get their hands on P.T. before Konami took it off of the PlayStation Store as they won’t be able to download or play it now, unless of course they’re willing to spend $1,500, because that’s how much PS4 units with P.T. pre-installed are going for on eBay.

HTC One M9 Gets RAW Image Support Via Google Play Camera Update

htc-one-m9-live-10

HTC One M9 has got away from its much touted Ultrapixel shooter, which was also present in the One M8. HTC also rectified the camera hardware in order to make it work better. The latest feature to collaborate with One M9 camera, is the facility to save and send pictures in the RAW format.

For all those wondering what is it, RAW is a setting which can be usually found on digital cameras, it is basically a file type option that is preferred by ace photographers over the JPEG format because it captures the picture as it is (in its original texture).

The latest update for this feature doesn’t even require a firmware correction, unlike many other OEMs, HTC had already worked on the basic apps, so that users would just be required to update the camera app right away through Google Play.

Interestingly, the same feature was announced by LG announced on its G4. This update by HTC surely seems to rival LG’s latest flagship in terms of camera hardware.

The RAW feature won’t come very handy for most of the general users. Especially, If a user is clicking a picture to simply upload on the Instagram, this feature will not really matter that much. Now, talking about the casual photographers HTC has also added image filters (even the third-part ones will work well). Also, this feature will not enable itself by default, in order to save the photo in RAW format, users would be required to go into the camera app settings and turn it on.

Moreover, RAW plays an important role when using photo editing apps like, CameraBag 2, or Photoshop. RAW provides enhanced editing control, and it doesn’t end up compressing the images, unlike the JPEG format.

HTC One M9 is the first device to roll out an update for RAW support, even the devices like Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 edge lack the feature.
