These ideas were obvious failures before they were even built, and yet, they were built anyways.
The display is literally the crown jewel of the smartwatch, and Apple delivers with its OLED, sapphire crystal display on the Apple Watch.
Google’s legal team has just announced that they’ll be buying as many patents as possible in order to “remove friction from the patent market” and defeat patent trolls, companies that buy patents just to sue people on bogus charges of infringement. But there’s a big problem with this strategy.
A few weeks ago, Verizon announced they were getting away from the stodgy model of large, confusing TV packages. Instead of bringing bundles with 30-plus channels, FiOS customers would be able to select from much smaller bundles, a move akin to Sling TV. ESPN was none-too-happy about the move, saying it violated contracts that are intended to keep all Disney … Continue reading
The device you’re seeing here is not what it seems. While you might have never owned an Alcatel smartphone before – and you might never have even seen one in the wild – they’ve been around for a while. Here, with the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3, the company has created a device that aims to take out the top tier … Continue reading
Imagine your surprise when you check out an Apple Watch collection at an Apple Store this week and find that the best display isn’t the most expensive. It’s not the display that’s making the difference, it’s what’s covering it. According to a study done this week by DisplayMate, the sapphire crystal that covers the OLED display on the Apple Watch … Continue reading
When a business is finished with a patent or just needs some cash, it often winds up selling its intellectual property to a patent troll. With it, these “non-practicing entities” can then fire courtroom broadsides at outfits like Microsoft and Google…
Splurging on a gold or steel Apple Watch might get you a fancier timepiece, but there’s one thing you won’t get: the best possible display. DisplayMate has taken a close look at the OLED screen in the smartwatch, and it notes that sapphire carries it…
T-Mobile subscribers who own the Galaxy Note 4 have been waiting for quite a long time to get a taste of Lollipop. It was only earlier this month that it was revealed that T-Mobile had started testing said update for the phablet. However the carrier hadn’t revealed when we could expect to see Lollipop arrive for the Galaxy Note 4. That day is today. T-Mobile has finally released Android 5.0.1 for the Galaxy Note 4 over-the-air.
A couple of days back Des Smith, senior product manager at T-Mobile, tweeted that technical approval had been received for this update, which meant that the roll out would begin very soon.
It certainly didn’t take too long after Smith tweeted this for the update to start hitting Galaxy Note 4 units across the country. Reports are coming in from T-Mobile subscribers who have now already received the much awaited Lollipop update on their device.
T-Mobile subscribers should keep in mind that this update weighs more than 1GB so they’re required to hook up to a good Wi-Fi network before they can start to download it. Ample juice in the battery will also be required for the installation process to begin.
We all know what Lollipop brings to the table, a new user interface, many new features and enhancements, as well as crucial security fixes.

Late last year Apple unveiled its new payments service called Apple Pay. The service was then launched with support from almost all major credit card companies in the United States, Visa, MasterCard and American Express to be precise. Discover was missing from the list and it wasn’t immediately clear if and when Discover card support would be added to Apple Pay. A few months after the service was launched it has now been confirmed when Apple Pay users will be able to use their Discover cards with the payments service.
Since its launch in October last year Apple has gradually been adding more banking partners so that the most amount of people can use its payments service.
Questions were obviously asked about Discover and there was no concrete statement from Apple or the credit card company for that matter, so all we could do was wait and see if support for Discover cards would be added to Apple Pay at some point.
It has been announced today that Discover card support for Apple Pay is indeed coming, though we’ll have to wait until the fall. That’s when Apple Pay will tout support from all four major credit card companies in the United States.
The announcement doesn’t make it clear why it took so long for Discover to hop on the Apple Pay bandwagon, but now that it has, that’s all that matters.
